Abstract

Peanuts are a type of legume that is ranked second economically after soybeans. The decline in peanut production has received special attention from the government, which has made adjustments to the processing and use of superior varieties as well as the use of fertilizer. The research aims to study the response of several peanut varieties to doses of biological organic fertilizer. The research was carried out from December 2021 to March 2022 on farmers' land in Tanjung Steko Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The research used an experimental method with a split-plot design and three replications, so there were 27 plots. The main plot factor is the dose of biological fertilizer (P), which consists of: P 1 = 75 kg/ha; P 2 =100 kg/ha; and P 3 = 125 kg/ha. The subplot factor is the peanut plant variety (V), which consists of V1 = Garuda, V2 = Tuban, and V3 = Giraffe. Observation parameters are: plant height (cm); number of primary branches (branches); pod weight per plant (g); number of pods containing (pods); Number of empty pods (pods); Weight of 100 seeds (g); production per plot (kg). The research results showed that the three varieties had a high response to the application of biological fertilizer. The research results showed that plant growth was not significantly different, but there were differences in production. The interaction between the treatment doses of P3 biological organic fertilizer and V3 gave the best results, namely peanut production of 1.50 kg/plot or the equivalent of 2.00 tons/ha

Abstract

Majority of farmers in Ketapang 1.  Rantau Panjang District  are accustomed to using inorganic chemical fertilizers and a few use organic fertilizers. Excessive use of chemical fertilizers will have a negative effect on soil fertility, physically, chemically and biologically. Infertile soil can cause the soil to become hard and cause plant roots to develop less well and disrupt nutrient absorption, so that the production of all plants will decrease, therefore to increase soil fertility you can use organic fertilizer enriched with Azospirillum bacteria (N-fixing bacteria from air) and phosphate and potassium solubilizing bacteria. This organic fertilizer enriched with bacteria more quickly contributes the NPK nutrients needed by plants. This activity was carried out in Ketapang 1 village, Rantau Panjang District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, in the form of counseling and demonstration of the application of organic fertilizer enriched with bacteria. Knowledge about organic fertilizer enriched with bacteria is very beneficial to society to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, to make the soil more loose and fertile and crop production can increase.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a staple food crop that is being promoted as part of efforts to enhance national food security. The utilization of dry land in Indonesia is one mechanism that supports this food security initiative. Seed priming treatments have been shown to improve plant tolerance to drought stress conditions. This adaptation study aims to investigate the differences in seed viability among several rice varieties subjected to different concentrations of ZnO nanopriming, as well as the performance of selected seeds grown under drought stress conditions during the vegetative phase of the plants. The first phase of the research involved seed screening and variety selection, accompanied by seed priming treatments. The experimental design employed was a Factorial Randomized Block Design, with the first factor being ZnO concentrations of 0 ppm, 10 ppm, 15 ppm, and 20 ppm. The second factor involved the selection of four rice varieties: Ciherang, Inpari 32 HDB, Mekongga, and the expired Ciherang. The second phase of the research built upon the first phase, utilizing the best rice seeds identified from the screening results along with the most effective priming treatment. These seeds were subjected to drought stress treatments (without watering), which included 0 HTS, 5 HTS, 7 HTS, and 14 HTS. The results indicated that the seed priming treatment with ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) significantly increased the germination percentage of rice seeds across all varieties, with the optimal treatment combinations being 30 ppm for the Ciherang variety and 100 ppm for the Mekongga variety. Under drought stress conditions, the Ciherang variety at 30 ppm exhibited the best adaptation up to 14 HTS. Overall, the application of nano-priming with ZnO NPs enhanced seed germination and promoted plant growth.
