Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between the use of AI chatbots and learning outcomes in the field of basic mechanical engineering among students of SMK Negeri 1 Lintau Buo. Although conventional teaching methods are used, this study is considered necessary due to the insufficient learning performance of the students in meeting the minimum completion criteria. The research method used in this study is quasi-experimental, this is a form of quantitative research. The participants were 59 students of class X of the mechanical engineering program. The analysis of the data showed that both the data come from populations with normal distribution and homogeneity. This has been confirmed by Liliefors and Fisher normality tests. Due to the fact that the calculated t-value of 2.341 exceeded the decisive t-value of 2.002, the results demonstrated the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1) at a significance level of 0.05. This was evidenced by a substantial improvement in the average pupils in the experimental group's post-test results, rising from an initial average score of 66.2 to 83.58 after the implementation of the AI chatbot as an educational support platform.

Abstract

One way to utilize organic waste waste is to process it into organic waste briquettes. Therefore, this study aims to utilize renewable energy from organic waste biomass to make briquette products that can overcome the accumulation of organic waste and obtain high-value products. Making briquettes from organic waste by applying heat and pressure is useful to get an orderly shape and a high calorific value. To obtain a solid, good and perfect briquette product, testing is carried out with temperature and moisture content regulation parameters during printing. The organic waste to be printed has become a powder that has been filtered with a sieve measuring 18 mesh. The briquettes are made using airtight molds by using threaded bolts at the time of pressing, applying heat during printing varying with temperatures of 250 ⁰C, 280 ⁰C, and 310 ⁰C, holding time of 10 minutes, and also setting the moisture content of 0%, 50%, and 80% of the dry weight of the raw material. The result of a good briquette product is obtained at a temperature of 310 ⁰C and a moisture content of 80% because it has become a solid briquette and has undergone a significant color change due to the decomposition process when the printing darkens.

Abstract

Social media is widely used in education for various learning activities, such as searching for educational materials, using it as a tool, giving assignments, participating in discussion forums, and many more. Optimizing learning outcomes is the goal of using social media in the classroom. Online communities, bloggers, social media, wikis, forums and virtual worlds are examples of social media platforms where users can interact, share and create content easily. This study aims to introduce social media as a teaching aid in the subject of basic knowledge of mechanical engineering (PDTM), Department of Machining Engineering Class X, State Vocational High School 5 Padang. A total of 32 class x students Department of Mechanical Engineering participated in the study January-June 2023/2024 school year. The results showed an increase from pre test to post test. In the pre-test value obtained a value of 74.422 and the post-test learning outcomes were 79.79, this. This proves that, there is a difference between learning outcomes that use audio visual media and do not use audio visual media at State Vocational High School 5 Padang.

Abstract

Transportation industry is the third largest energy consumer, the focus on energy saving in vehicles and reducing exhaust emissions is major concern. Aerodynamics is one of the important subjects in vehicle engineering today. The more aerodynamic the vehicle, the lighter the engine performance, which can reduce fuel usage. This study aims to examine the effect of vehicle body design on the value of drag coefficient (Cd), lift coefficient (), and the ratio between lift coefficient and drag coefficient (/Cd). The method in this research is a numerical method that utilizes the CFD feature in the Ansys Fluent 2024 R1. The drag coefficient value with a speed of 10 m/s is 0.0155, a speed of 20 m/s is 0.0110, and a speed of 30 m/s is 0.0083. While the value of the lift coefficient with a speed of 10 m/s is obtained worth 0.0177, a speed of 20 m/s worth 0.0358, and a speed of 10 m/s worth 0.0455. Then the vehicle body design obtained the value of the /Cd ratio with a speed of 10 m/s worth 1.1419, a speed of 20 m/s worth 3.2545, and a speed of 30 m/s worth 5.4819. The conclusion this research is that the design of the vehicle body has a drag coefficient value decreasing as the speed increases and conversely the lift coefficient value increases. Based on the /Cd ratio value, it indicates that the vehicle body design is an aerodynamic design because the higher /Cd ratio, the more efficient the vehicle performance.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the integration of policy and technology in vocational educational leadership, focusing on studies published between 2022 and 2024. The review addresses four key research questions: (1) technological tools and advancements supporting leadership in vocational education, (2) the influence of policies and frameworks on leadership strategies, (3) challenges associated with integrating policy and technology, and (4) the socio-economic and educational impacts of this integration. The findings reveal that technological tools such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital collaboration platforms, and advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) are instrumental in enhancing leadership and educational outcomes. Policies promoting digital transformation, industry alignment, and inclusivity significantly shape leadership strategies. However, challenges like infrastructure limitations and policy-implementation gaps persist. Effective integration of policy and technology in vocational education leads to improved learning environments, better skill acquisition, and enhanced socio-economic outcomes, though ensuring equitable access remains a critical concern. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of how policy and technology intersect to shape vocational education leadership in contemporary settings.Keywords: Vocational Leadership, Policy Integration, Educational Technology, Digital Transformation

Abstract

A stable room temperature is essential for comfort. This study tests the performance of split wall air conditioners with R-22 refrigerant and evaluates how to improve their efficiency through the influence of cooling air temperature. The experiment was carried out by varying the air temperature and cooling load using a heater. Data is taken every 15 minutes for 2 hours using a digital thermometer. The results showed that the maximum coefficient of performance (COP) value reached 8 indoors and 7.2 outdoors. Meanwhile, the maximum energy efficiency ratio (EER) value was recorded at 4.2 indoors and 3.7 outdoors. The stability of COP and EER values indicates that the Split Air Conditioner can operate efficiently despite variations in air temperature and cooling load. Cooler cooling air proved to be crucial in improving system efficiency. Conversely, higher refrigerant loads tend to decrease efficiency. However, this drop can be minimized by keeping the cooling air temperature low. The selection of the appropriate refrigerant, such as R-22, also plays an important role in supporting optimal performance. The combination of cooler cooling air and the right refrigerant allows the split air conditioner to operate with high efficiency. This research provides an important basis for the development of energy-efficient and efficient cooling systems. Optimizing the temperature of the cooling air is one of the main keys in improving the efficiency of the cooling system. With the right approach, split air conditioners can be used more effectively to create thermal comfort while saving energy.

Abstract

Kebutuhan energi di Indonesia terus meningkat seiring dengan pertumbuhan populasi penduduk dan perkembangan industri, sedangkan suplai energi mulai menipis. Akibatnya ketersediaan energi menjadi langka. Biomassa sebagai enegi terbarukan memberikan solusi yang efektif untuk menghasilkan energi. Penelitian ini melakukan pengujian untuk mengetahui peforma dan kinerja gasifikasi dengan empat jenis variasi bahan bakar berbasis biomassa antara lain pellet kayu 100%, campuran pellet sampah pasar dan pellet kayu dengan perbandingan volume 1:1, campuran pellet sampah pasar dan pellet kayu 2:1, serta pellet sampah pasar 100% menggunakan alat downdraf gasifier. Metode penelitian ini merupakan uji eksperimental karena melibatkan pengujian langsung untuk mengukur temperatur gasifikasi, waktu gasifikasi, nyala api efektif,serta suhu air yang dipanaskan menggunakan uji titik didih/ boilling test. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pellet kayu memberikan kinerja terbaik dalam hal stabilitas pembakaran, rendeman syngas, dan menghasilkan nilai kalor yang tinggi dengan waktu nyala api efektif selama 85 menit. Campuran pellet kayu dan pellet sampah pasar 1:1 menghasilkan syngas dengan nyala api efektif selama 15 menit. Sedangkan campuran pellet sampah pasar dan pellet kayu dengan perbandingan volume 2:1 menghasilkan syngas dengan waktu nyala api efektif selama 25 menit. Sementara itu, pellet sampah pasar memberikan peluang untuk memanfaatkan limbah pasar menjadi energi walaupun menghasil syngas dan nilai kalor yang rendah, tercatat waktu gasifikasi selama 25 menit namun, tidak efektif dalam menyalakan api. Selain itu campuran bahan bakar yang lain perlu dikaji untuk menawarkan potensi untuk menghasilkan energi yang relevan demi keberlanjutan lingkungan hidup.

Abstract

Students currently being faced are students who were born in the digital era, they are accustomed to things related to the internet, they are already good at playing the gadgets they have, while there are still teachers who are not very good at using various applications for learning. This study aims to determine the readiness of vocational high school teachers to face artificial intelligence in the era of 21st century education.The type of research used in this study is a descriptive quantitative method. The population is 274 teachers. The number of samples is 73 teachers who are drawn using the proportional random sampling technique. The data collection technique is carried out through primary data in the form of questionnaires filled out by respondents and secondary data in the form of data obtained from the school. The test results show the unpreparedness of teachers in terms of technological skills influenced by critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration and creativity. The conclusion of this study is that there is a positive and significant relationship between critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration and creativity on the readiness of vocational high school teachers in facing artificial intelligence in the 21st Century Education era.

Abstract

The engaging and personalized nature from short video makes it quickly popular, yet concerns persist about their potential to diminish critical thinking skills. This study investigates whether short videos with educational content can improve students' critical thinking skills. Using a quasi-experiment method, Thirty-three participants were divided into control and experimental groups, with critical thinking measured using the Holistic Critical Thinking Scoring Rubric (HCTSR) based on essay analysis in pretest and posttest. After administering educational short videos to the experimental group, the results showed that there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills, shown by the result of controlling the pretest variable through the ANCOVA test with a p-value of <0.001. The result highlights the potential of educational short videos as tools for fostering critical thinking by providing interventions which prioritize treatment fidelity through standardized protocols (SOPs) for content delivery, validating assessment tools, and structuring content design. Recommendations for future research include larger sample sizes, repeated data collection at strategic intervals, and rigorous validation of question complexity.

Abstract

Indonesia has a humid tropical climate and many major cities are located along the coast, causing a large energy demand for thermal comfort. It takes a lot of energy to get thermal comfort. So one of the effective strategies for energy efficiency of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems is passive cooling techniques. Therefore, savings are made by using heat transfer devices as passive cooling in air vents. This research was conducted to see the comparison between experimental data and Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulations. The implementation method in this research was carried out on Solidoworks 2020 software. Based on experimental data, the inlet temperature is 32.35˚C, the outlet temperature is 28.4˚C and the water temperature is 27.58˚C and the mass flow rate is 0.0936 kg/s, the effectiveness is 0.228, then a variation with a mass flow rate of 0.1872 kg/s is obtained with an effectiveness of 0.122 and a mass flow rate variation of 0.2808 kg/s is obtained with an effectiveness of 0.083.
