Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to recognize place value concepts among a sixth-grade student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at SLB Negeri Tebo through the use of Dienes blocks as concrete learning media. The initial assessment showed that the student was able to recognize numbers but experienced difficulties in identifying unit, tens, and hundreds place values, with a performance score of only 20%, far below the schools KKTP standard of 75%. This classroom action research employed two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through structured observation to document learning behaviors, performance tests at the end of each meeting, and documentation to support qualitative findings. The data were analyzed descriptively by comparing test results across cycles and interpreting behavioral changes based on observation notes. The findings indicate a gradual improvement from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, although the student showed increased interest in using Dienes blocks, mastery of the concept had not yet reached the expected level. Significant improvement occurred in cycle II, marked by the students ability to independently arrange units, tens, and hundreds, and correctly solve place value tasks. The final score reached 93.3%, exceeding the KKTP threshold. The results demonstrate that Dienes blocks effectively support students with ASD in understanding abstract mathematical concepts by providing concrete, visual, and structured learning experiences.

Abstract

Anak dengan disabilitas intelektual ringan sering mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep matematika yang bersifat abstrak, khususnya kemampuan mengenal dan membilang bilangan, akibat keterbatasan kognitif dan rendahnya motivasi belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses penerapan aplikasi MARBEL (Mari Belajar) dalam pembelajaran matematika serta menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan mengenal dan membilang bilangan 1–10 pada anak disabilitas intelektual ringan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, melibatkan satu orang guru kelas dan tiga peserta didik kelas II dengan karakteristik disabilitas intelektual ringan. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif menggunakan persentase pencapaian hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan mengenal dan membilang bilangan secara bertahap pada setiap siklus, hingga seluruh peserta didik mencapai Kriteria Ketercapaian Tujuan Pembelajaran (KKTP) ≥70 pada akhir siklus II. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi MARBEL yang bersifat visual, auditori, dan interaktif efektif membantu anak disabilitas intelektual ringan memahami konsep bilangan secara lebih konkret. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan media pembelajaran digital berbasis aplikasi yang dikombinasikan dengan media konkret untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran matematika di pendidikan khusus.

Abstract

Discovery Learning model for first-grade students with physical disabilities. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted at SLB Negeri Pematang Siantar. The research subjects consisted of three first-grade students with physical disabilities, identified as PS, GH, and BH. Based on the initial assessment, the students’ early reading abilities were categorized as low, with achievement percentages of 30% for PS, 30% for GH, and 30% for BH. The study was carried out in two cycles, each comprising the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The observation results in Cycle I indicated an improvement in early reading skills, with PS achieving 45%, GH 50%, and BH 40%. Furthermore, a more significant improvement was observed in Cycle II, with achievement percentages increasing to 80% for PS, 80% for GH, and 75% for BH. Data were collected through observation using an early reading skills assessment sheet, while data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative techniques by comparing achievement results across cycles. The findings demonstrate that the application of the Discovery Learning model is effective in enhancing early reading skills among first-grade students with physical disabilities. These results indicate that learning activities emphasizing active student engagement in independently discovering concepts can optimally improve motivation, comprehension, and learning outcomes in accordance with the characteristics of students with physical disabilities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca permulaan suku kata pada siswa penyandang disabilitas intelektual ringan kelas IV di SLB Berkah Arsy Cupak Kabupaten Solok. Siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menyebutkan dan menunjukkan variasi suku kata, terutama pada suku kata dengan vokal selain “a”, sehingga diperlukan media pembelajaran yang konkret, visual, dan interaktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan suku kata melalui penggunaan media pembelajaran PowerPoint Interaktif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan pendekatan kualitatif, yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri atas tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah dua siswa penyandang disabilitas intelektual ringan kelas IV berinisial I dan F. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa, tes unjuk kerja membaca permulaan suku kata, serta studi dokumentasi. Penilaian kemampuan membaca dilakukan menggunakan skor kategori mampu, mampu dengan bantuan, dan tidak mampu, yang selanjutnya dihitung dalam bentuk persentase untuk menentukan tingkat keberhasilan pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan suku kata secara bertahap, yaitu dari kondisi awal sebesar 20% dengan kategori kurang, meningkat menjadi 50% pada siklus I, dan mencapai 100% pada siklus II dengan kategori sangat baik. Siswa mampu menyebutkan dan menunjukkan seluruh bacaan suku kata yang terdiri atas kombinasi huruf konsonan bilabial dan huruf vokal secara mandiri, tepat, dan konsisten. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran PowerPoint Interaktif efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan suku kata pada siswa penyandang disabilitas intelektual ringan.

Abstract

One of the phenomena that has taken a lot of attention in the world of education is bullying that occurs in schools so that the phenomenon that is done by peers in Indonesia continues to increase. School bullying is a worldwide problem that can have lifelong negative consequences for students. One of them is bullying by normal students towards students with special needs in public schools. This study used a quantitative descriptive method which aims to determine the state of anti-bullying of normal students against students with special needs in class Xl at SMK N 7 Padang. Respondents in this study were forty normal students in class Xl. The results of this study indicate that efforts to prevent and see the bullying of normal students are quite good for students with special needs. So it can be concluded that the anti-bullying awareness of normal students is quite good for students with special needs in class Xl at SMK N 7 Padang.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of students with physical disabilities in the subject of adding two numbers up to 20 using interactive games, while also improving the teaching process. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four meetings. The research subjects included a third-grade teacher as the action implementer and two students with physical disabilities. Data were collected through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation, then analysed descriptively. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes in each cycle. At the beginning of the study, MG student achieved a score of 40% and AR student achieved a score of 50%. After the intervention in cycle I, learning outcomes increased to 60% for MG and 68% for AR. In cycle II, through the use of more targeted interactive games and the provision of rewards in the form of stickers, learning outcomes increased significantly to 84% for MG and 92% for AR. These findings indicate that interactive games are effective in improving mathematics learning outcomes in sideways addition for students with physical disabilities

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low ability of sixth-grade students with intellectual disabilities to button their clothes independently, as evidenced by their difficulty in adjusting the position of the buttons and buttonholes, thus still requiring assistance from others. This study aims to improve the ability to button clothes through the application of modelling techniques in sixth-grade students with intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri Binjai. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The research subjects were two sixth-grade students with intellectual disabilities. The research was conducted in two cycles with collaboration between the researcher and the teacher, where each cycle consisted of four meetings. Data collection techniques were carried out through performance tests and observations. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods and presented in tables and graphs. The results showed that the application of modelling techniques was able to improve the ability to fasten buttons in both subjects. In cycle I, the abilities of both subjects improved compared to the initial conditions, but one subject did not yet meet the minimum completion criteria. In cycle II, both subjects achieved a minimum mastery level of 75, with scores of 77 and 76 respectively. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the modelling technique is effective in improving the ability to button up clothes in sixth grade students with intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri Binjai.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of self-care ability of a child with Down syndrome in independently performing the skill of applying sanitary pads. Limitations in understanding the sequence of steps, remembering procedures, and coordinating fine motor skills caused the child to remain dependent on assistance from others, especially during menstruation. Based on the results of initial observations and assessments, it was found that the child’s ability to apply sanitary pads was still low and had not been carried out correctly and sequentially. Therefore, a structured, concrete, and repetitive learning model was needed. This study employed an experimental method using a Single Subject Research (SSR) approach with an A–B design consisting of a baseline phase (A) and an intervention phase (B). The research subject was a female third-grade student. Data collection was conducted through performance tests using a task analysis–based assessment instrument. Data were analyzed descriptively using quantitative methods through visual graph analysis, which included within-condition analysis and between-condition analysis. The results of the study showed an improvement in the child’s self-care ability in applying sanitary pads after the implementation of the Direct Instruction learning model. During the baseline phase, the child’s ability was at 58.3% and showed a stable trend. During the intervention phase, the child’s ability increased, reaching the highest percentage of 69.4% and showing a more consistent trend. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Direct Instruction learning model is sufficiently effective in improving self-care skills in applying sanitary pads for a child with Down syndrome

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang keterampilan vokasional pembuatan masker bengkuang. Tujuannya adalah untuk membuktikan model pembelajaran problem solving efektif digunakan dalam pembuatan masker bengkuang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode pre-experimental dengan jenis one group pretest-posttes design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini lima orang siswa SMA tunarungu di SLB Luak Nan Bungsu. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah tes perbuatan berupa pretest untuk mengetahui kondisi awal siswa dalam pembuatan masker bengkuang selanjutnya diberikan pre-experimen dengan menggunkanan model pembelajaran problem solving dan dilanjutkan dengan memberikan posttes diolah dan dibandingkan dengan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai rata-rata pada saat pretest yaitu 9,20 sedangkan nilai posttest di dapatkan hasil menjadi 20,20. Data di olah menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Sign Rank Tes diperoleh nilai Thitung = 15. Pada tabel uji wilcoxon, nilai kritis pada taraf kesalahan ( α ) 0,05 dan N = 5 adalah 0, didapat Ttabel = 0 maka Thitung = 15 > Ttabel = 0, oleh karena itu hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini dapat diterima. Dengan demikian dapat disimpukkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem solving dapat meningkatkan keterampilan vokasional pembuatan masker bengkuang.
