Abstract

Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood. Physically, adolescents experience an increase in body growth, such as an increase in height, as well as the maturity of the organs including the maturity of the reproductive function. Meanwhile, cognitive maturity is identified with the ability to think abstractly. The bad habit of teenagers at school is carrying not a few school supplies, they even carry an extra tote bag to go to school. This if done for a long period of time will result in bad posture or spinal abnormalities. Poor posture results in musculoskeletal problems and leads to postural skoliosis. Many students have complaints of pain and discomfort in the back and waist area, this is caused by sitting in the wrong position for a long time and also many students carry bags that are too heavy and even carry with a tote bag or sling. This can encourage educational activities related to preventive programs and early detection of skoliosis at OSIS SMPN 3 Surakarta. The method we use consists of presentation of material, discussion sessions, exercises and practices. The results obtained after delivering the material were an increase in students' knowledge and increased awareness of the importance of maintaining a good sitting pattern to avoid skoliosis.

Abstract

Introduction: Sports injuries refer to injuries that occur as a result of sporting activities, either directly or indirectly. Sports injuries that occur to a person will cause a sensation of pain caused by damage to the structure or function of the body, such as bones, joints, ligaments and muscles. One type of sports injury that often occurs is rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The ACL ligament is an important component in the knee. The main function of the ACL is to maintain stability when anterior tibial movement and internal rotation occur. Rupture is a condition when tissue is damaged or torn due to trauma. Case Presentation: The patient experienced limited movement and pain when flexing and extending the left knee accompanied by pain which made it difficult for the patient to carry out daily activities. The patient suffered an injury caused by an opponent's attack during a silat competition which resulted in a “pop” sound which made his knee ache and made it difficult to bend his knee. The patient was medically diagnosed with left knee ACL rupture. The patient complained of motion pain and tenderness in the left knee area, flexor and extensor muscle weakness, hamstring muscle spasm, decreased joint range of motion, and muscle atrophy. Management and Outcomes: Patients are given intervention in the form of phase I exercise including: quadriceps set, hamstring sets, clump sell, SLR, ankle theraband, slide heels, weight training. Before the exercise, the patient is given tens and given an ice pack after the therapy. After being given the intervention once, the results showed that there was no significant decrease in motion pain, there was no significant increase in muscle strength, there was an increase in the range of motion of the joints, there was no increase in muscle mass. Discussion: Tens aims to help reduce pain, stimulate muscle activity, and reduce swelling, phase 1 exercise therapy, namely strengthening exercises quadriceps set performed to increase strength in the quadriceps muscles, hamstring sets done to increase strength in the hamstring muscles, clump sell performed to increase strength in the gluteus muscles and stabilization of the hips, SLR to strengthen the abductor, adductor, gluteus, and hamstring muscles, ankle theraband to increase the strength of the ankle muscles (m. tibialis anterior, m. gastrocnemius, m. peroneus), slide heels performed to increase knee joint ROM and stretch leg muscles, weight training to add LGS to the knee extension movement and to reduce pain, and ice packs to reduce pain and swelling, so that it can help increase range of motion (ROM).

Abstract

Introduction: Chronic kidney failure is a condition in which kidney tissue has progressively decreased function so that it is unable to maintain fluid balance in the body and requires therapy, namely hemodialysis. Improving physical work capacity and reducing functional limitations of muscle strength can be done through regular physical exercise in patients with chronic kidney failure after undergoing hemodialysis. Therefore it is necessary to conduct a systematic review study to determine the effect of physical exercise on chronic kidney failure patients. There are 5 articles used in this research. Based on the articles obtained, it can be concluded that physical exercise in patients with chronic kidney failure during the hemodialysis period greatly influences muscle strength.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Scoliosis is defined as the lateral curvature of the spine reaching an angle of 10 degrees or more on coronal radiographs when an individual is standing. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), around 3% of the global population is at risk of experiencing scoliosis, while in Indonesia, the prevalence of scoliosis ranges between 3% and 5%. Leg length discrepancy is a situation where the length of both lower extremities is unbalanced. Leg length discrepancy can lead to various issues in body posture, such as scoliosis. This study aims to investigate the relationship between scoliosis and leg length discrepancy in children aged 4-6 years. The degree of scoliosis was measured using a scoliometer, and leg length examination was conducted using a measuring tape. Methods: This study is a quantitative research with a cross-sectional research design. The sample size was 567, selected through purposive sampling based on inclusion, exclusion, and dropout criteria. Results: The results, obtained using the Nonparametric Correlation Test with the Spearman Rank Test, indicate the absence of a relationship between leg length discrepancy and scoliosis, with a p-value of 0.189 (p>0.05) and a correlation strength level of 0.055, meaning the correlation is very weak, and the direction of the relationship is positive or in the same direction. Conclusion: There is no relationship between leg length discrepancy and scoliosis in children aged 4-6 years.
