Abstract

Social media has evolved into an inclusive communication tool, enabling individuals with disabilities to share various messages with the broader public. This study explores how the educational content shared by the TikTok account @jennifernatalie_ fosters audience engagement with deaf-related issues. Using a qualitative approach through content analysis, the research examines how five dimensions of Social Media Influencer (SMI) communication—namely information usefulness, dialogic interaction, affectivity, collectivity, and connectivity—are manifested in the content uploaded. The analysis was conducted on 189 selected videos from four educational-themed playlists. Findings indicate that despite verbal communication limitations, @jennifernatalie_ effectively utilizes social media features to communicate in a creative and inclusive manner, delivering messages that foster emotional connection and interactive engagement. Through her authentic expression as a deaf individual, she succeeds in activating audience participation via comments, likes, and two-way conversations. This study highlights how influencer communication characteristics play a pivotal role in shaping engagement, particularly in disability-related topics. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of inclusive communication practices on social media and the role of disabled influencers in fostering digital social interaction.

Abstract

In the contemporary era, the hijab is no longer exclusively associated with a specific demographic. Its meaning has evolved and is now widely accepted within the community. While the hijab is a mandatory practice for Muslim women, it has also become a fashion statement. The growing acceptance of hijab has led to the emergence of local hijab brands. This article examines the use of social media, particularly Instagram, to examine communication between groups of hijab users, focusing on customers of a particular brand of hijab, namely Vanilla Hijab. Observing this group behavior used fantasy, emphasizing how individuals achieve a shared reality through communication. Individuals in the group conducted shared reality-seeing behavior among individuals guided by stories that reflect how reality is confirmed. The reinforcement of shared reality is repeated through personal, group, or community achievements and takes the form of stories or tales. In examining the theme of hijab customer group fantasy, the researcher employed a qualitative case study research method by conducting interviews with female Vanila Hijab customers. Producers use Instagram social media not only to inform the public about Vanilla Hijab's activities and introduce its products but also to build community involvement and receive input from a segmented audience. The findings indicate that group members added numerous fantasy themes to maintain group communication and foster group culture.

Abstract

The ongoing conflict between the Palestinians and Israelis has prompted a range of attitudes among the countries with which they have relations. The emergence of the cancel culture phenomenon, a movement to boycott certain companies' products, has raised growing concerns. The paper analyzes the social media messages of multinational corporations regarding products that are boycotted by consumers who see them as haram and pro-American because of their alliance with Israel. Through an analysis of digital media content from several multinational companies related to Israeli attacks on Palestine and the issuance of MUI Fatwa No. 83/2023, two frames of controlled media content emerge.

Abstract

Education, which is one of the "media" in the eradication of anti-corruption, still has an important role to play. However, the role of education in supporting anti-corruption prevention has reached a saturation point in society because the government's seriousness in carrying out strategic steps to prevent corruption crimes still seems slow. The research method uses descriptive analysis with a literature study approach. The theory of relational dialectic by L.A Baxter became an analytical instrument, to show the dynamics of giving gifts by students to educators as a form of gratuity that cannot be justified. The results of the study showed that there was a conflict between the two groups which was divided into satisfaction vs decision, cost vs reciprocity, and tradition vs code of ethics. The conclusion of this study is to show the dynamics of gratuities, which are carried out by both parties greatly affect the attitude of integration and honesty in the future. For this reason, there needs to be a role for the KPK institution in building an example of educators so that they can show the giving of gifts as a form of gratuity and a real violation of the law. The study of dialectical relational communication can certainly be considered for further research as a form of attention to anti-corruption attitudes in the educational environment as early as possible.

Abstract

Using an analysis of the film “The Great Hack,” this paper aims to examine the economic transformation of society from the post-Fordist era to the information society. The film reveals how data and information have become key commodities in today's digital age, impacting various aspects of social and economic life. The film “The Great Hack” serves as the main case study in this research, which uses a qualitative approach. Content analysis and critical discourse analysis are the instruments used in this study. This method involves reading literature on relevant economic and social theories, as well as conducting a critical analysis of the film's content and message. This research uses the theoretical frameworks of post-Fordism, network society, cognitive capitalism, and information society to study the forms of economic change that have occurred. The results of the study show that the film “The Great Hack” adopts the principles of post-Fordism that have developed in the digital context, resulting in a network society, the concept of cognitive capitalism, and a network society where data is the main resource. In conclusion, the film shows how the principles of post-Fordism have developed in the digital context, resulting in a network society, the concept of cognitive capitalism, and a network society in which data is the primary resource. The practices of Cambridge Analytica demonstrate cognitive capitalism, which shows that economic value comes from knowledge and information.
