Abstract

Vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is an export commodity from the fisheries sub-sector which has high economic value. The development of aquaculture systems from traditional to intensive has the potential for disease attacks. Control of the spread of the disease must be done as early as possible, one method of prevention is using immunostimulants. An alternative source of immunostimulants that can be used to increase the immune system of shrimp is octopus (Octopus sp.) ink. Octopus ink is generally not used or thrown away when the octopus meat is processed. Research on octopus ink is also minimal compared to squid ink and cuttlefish ink. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of the potential of octopus ink as an immunostimulant for vaname shrimp. It is known that the content of octopus ink consists mostly of alkaloids, melanin, amino acids, and carboxylic acids. Octopus ink has various roles based on its compound content such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antibacterial, antiretroviral, anticancer, anti-ulcerogenic, anti-inflammatory, antivirus, antifungal, antiviral, and anti-proliferative. From the results of the literature study, it is explicitly necessary to carry out further research to find out more complete compounds content in octopus ink so that its potential as an immunostimulant in vaname shrimp cultivation can be identified more clearly.

Abstract

Mud crab or known as Scylla sp. is one of the coastal resources that has economic value and contains high nutrition. This causes the market demand for mud crabs is continue to increase from time to time. So, it is necessary to do mud crab cultivation. One strategy for managing crab cultivation can be done through an apartment system. This vertical aquaculture technology is the third evolution in mud crab cultivation after cultivation in nature and horizontal system cultivation which is generally carried out using ponds. Based on this, this study aims to determine the method of enlargement mud crabs with the apartment system. This research activity was carried out in March-April 2023 at the Brackish Water Aquaculture Center (BBPBAP) Jepara, Central Java. Data collection techniques used in this research are descriptive methods and field observations. The results obtained are knowing the stages of mud crab enlargement activities with the apartment system including preparation of rearing containers, crab selection, crab stocking, feed management, water quality management, harvesting, packaging, and transportation. The highest weight growth during the study was 372 g in Apartment 1 Floor 5. The highest Survival Rate (SR) value during the study was obtained from stocking 14 mud crabs per floor was 57% in Apartment 1 Floor 6. The value of water quality parameters during the study included temperature, pH, DO, and salinity are good and support for the life of mud crabs.

Abstract

African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is a type of freshwater fish that can grow and develop well because it can be cultivated on limited land. Currently, African catfish cultivation has developed rapidly because the cultivation and marketing technology is relatively easy for the community, and the funding required is relatively small. Catfish has advantages compared to other fish, namely faster growth, economical price and high nutritional content. Catfish is a type of consumption fish that has promising prospects because it has a fairly high level of market uptake. This research aims to determine the performance of African catfish cultivation in concrete ponds. This research activity was carried out in June-July 2023 at the Lingsar Fish Seed Center (BBI), West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The data collection techniques used in this research were descriptive methods and field observations. The results obtained are that African catfish cultivation activities include pond preparation, selection and stocking of seeds, the grow-out process where this grow-out process includes feed management, water quality management and health management of African catfish. Next, growth observations were carried out where growth for 21 days could provide significant results, which can be seen from the absolute weight and length obtained, namely 1.101 grams and a length of 6.3 cm. Previously, the initial average weight of farmed fish was 5.4 grams. After 21 days of rearing, the final average weight was 18.6 grams. Then the FCR value obtained was 0.8 and SR 88%. Meanwhile, for optimal maintenance water quality, the maintenance temperature range is around 26-28°C, pH is around 6.6-8.2 and DO is around 47.5-9.8 mg/l. From these data it can be said that catfish cultivation has been successful

Abstract

Koi (Cyprinus carpio) is a type of fish that belongs to a strain of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Koi fans in Indonesia not only keep koi fish in ponds, but also take part in koi contests so that they can increase the prestige of their owners. Koi fish is a freshwater ornamental fish commodity that has economic potential in national and international markets. This research aims to determine the performance of koi fish cultivation in concrete ponds. This research activity was carried out in January-February 2024 at the Lingsar Fish Seed Center (BBI), West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The data collection techniques used in this research are descriptive methods and field observations. The results obtained are koi fish cultivation activities including pond preparation, selection and distribution of seeds, the grow-out process where the grow-out process includes feed management, water quality management and koi fish health management. Next, growth observations were carried out where growth for 21 days could provide significant results, which can be seen from the absolute weight and length obtained, namely 2.3 grams and a length of 3.28 cm. Then the FCR value obtained was 0.53 and SR 99.6%. Meanwhile, for optimal maintenance water quality, the maintenance temperature range is around 26-30°C and the pH is around 6.5-8.0. From these data it can be said that the koi fish cultivation has been successful

Abstract

Seaweed is a leading aquaculture commodity with the largest production among other leading commodities. One of the seaweed that is widely cultivated in Indonesia is Kappaphycus alvarezii. Kappaphycus alvarezii is one of the main aquaculture commodities which is widely cultivated because its production technology is relatively cheap and easy, and post-harvest handling is relatively simple. One of the problems in seaweed cultivation is the use of poor quality seaweed seeds. One of the efforts to increase seaweed production is to use quality seeds, namely tissue culture. The aim of this research is to determine work steps, identify problems and identify the level of success of tissue culture activities on Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed so that maximum production results can then be achieved. This research was carried out in March-May 2023 at the Center for Brackish Water Aquaculture Fisheries (BBPBAP) Jepara, Central Java. The results obtained were Kappaphycus alvarezii tissue culture activities including sea water preparation, sterilization of tools and materials, making paste fertilizer, media preparation, selection and acclimatization of broodstock, sterilization and cutting of explants, planting explants, callus induction, regeneration of callus into micropropagules, regeneration of micropropagules into plantlets, and water quality management needs to be carried out to support the success of seaweed tissue culture
