Abstract

The dairy industry plays a strategic role in providing animal food, especially milk and its processed products. However, the sustainability of this industry is faced with the challenge of disease, one of which is mastitis inflammation of the udder which is generally caused by bacterial infections such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, and Escherichia coli. Mastitis is divided into clinical and subclinical forms, with significant impacts on livestock health, animal welfare, decreased milk production and quality, and economic losses for farmers. This study aims to examine the causes of mastitis, its risk factors, and prevention and control strategies at the farm level. The method used is a literature study of various scientific sources and current publications. The results of the study indicate that controlling mastitis requires a holistic approach through hygienic milking practices, good barn management, application of dry cow therapy, chronic culling of dairy cattle, vaccination, and regular monitoring of udder health. Implementation of sustainable prevention strategies, accompanied by increased farmer awareness and policy support, is key to reducing the prevalence of mastitis and strengthening the resilience of dairy farming businesses.

Abstract

Isolasi Trichoderma sp. pada substrat tepung singkong merupakan salah satu inovasi teknologi alami untuk menghasilkan feed additive alami pada pakan broiler sebagai pengganti antibiotik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan Trichoderma sp. pada substrat tepung singkong dengan variabel yang diamati yaitu jumlah gula pereduksi, pH, dan total spora yang dihasilkan Trichoderma sp. dalam memfermentasi tepung singkong. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial dengan 2 faktor. Faktor A adalah berat media tepung singkong (100 gram dan 150 gram) dengan Faktor B yaitu persentase Trichoderma sp. (0%, 3%, 5%, 7%). Setiap satuan percobaan diinkubasi selama 21 hari untuk kemudian diamati pengaruh pertumbuhannya terhadap uji hemositometer, pH, dan gula reduksi. Data dianalisis menggunakan Two Way Analysis of Variance (Two Way ANOVA) dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95% yang dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (DMRT) dengan menggunakan SPSS 2.0. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan persentase Trichoderma sp. berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dengan hasil perlakuan terbaik pada persentase Trichoderma sp 5%. dari berat total media tepung singkong yang diinkubasi selama 3 minggu dengan kadar gula reduksi 0,39%, nilai pH 4,40 dan jumlah spora optimum yang dihasilkan adalah 6,2 x 109 cfu/g.

Abstract

Halal di Indonesia diatur dalam undang-undang No.69 pasal 10 ayat (1) tentang label dan iklan pangan setiap orang yang memproduksi atau memasukkan pangan yang dikemas di Wilayah Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengusulkan, mengembangkan, dan menerapkan perbaikan manual sistem jaminan produk halal (SJPH). Pengumpulan data mengunakan metode observasi dan wawancara meliputi profil umum, lokasi tata letak ruangan, fasilitas, kapasitas, legalitas, alur produksi struktur manajemen sumber daya manusia, proses penyembelihan, proses pra penyembelihan dan daftar hewan yang dipotong. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa manual sistem jaminan halal (SJH) dikembangkan berdasarkan kondisi nyata di rumah potong hewan (RPH) Bangkong dengan mengintegrasikan antara kriteria halal assurance system (HAS) 23000 tentang sertifikasi halal dan persyaratan SNI 01-6159-1999 tentang rumah potong hewan. Pengembangan manual SJH menghasilkan 7 persyaratan yaitu kebijakan mutu, tim manajemen mutu, pelatihan dan edukasi, hewan potong, produk, fasilitas, dan prosedur kerja. Persyaratan yang belum dapat diterapkan sepenuhnya yaitu pelatihan dan fasilitas. Persyaratan fasilitas tidak dapat diwujudkan dalam jangka waktu singkat mengingat bangunan RPH milik pemerintah, sehingga diperlukan penganggaran dana dalam pemenuhan persyaratan standar nasional Indonesia (SNI) RPH. Namun demikian, tidak menjadi suatu masalah pada kriteria SJH karena persyaratan fasilitas produksi yang dimiliki tercatat dengan baik pada manual SJH. Penerapan persyaratan dalam manual SJH dapat dilakukan secara konsisten.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding lamota (Salicornia europaea) extract on the antioxidant activity and organoleptic properties of yogurt. Yogurt is made by adding 5%, 10% and 15% lamota extract. Tests carried out included antioxidant activity tests using the DPPH method and organoleptic tests (color, aroma, taste, texture and overall acceptability) with 15 panelists. The results showed that the addition of lamota extract had a significant effect on the antioxidant activity of yogurt, with the highest value in the treatment being 15% (11.21%). Organoleptic tests showed significant differences in aroma attributes, where the addition of 15% lamota extract was less liked by panelists. The color, taste and texture attributes did not show significant differences between treatments. Overall, yogurt with the addition of 15% lamota extract was most liked by the panelists. This research shows the potential for using lamota as a functional additive in making yogurt to increase antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi penumbuhan kelembagaan ekonomi petani di Kecamatan Junrejo Kota Batu Provinsi Jawa Timur. Metode kajian menggunakan kajian sosial dengan spesifik lokasi Kecamatan Junrejo yang merupakan studi tentang hubungan antara, dan diantara orang, kelompok, institusi atau lingkungan yang lebih luas.  Variabel yang digunakan yakni variabel independen meliputi umur, pendidikan, status dalam kelompok, lama menjadi anggota, motivasi, komunikasi, kepemimpinan dan peran penyuluh, sedangkan variabel dependen meliputi penumbuhan kelembagaan ekonomi petani. Metode Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara dan penyebaran kuesioner. Analisis untuk mengetahui strategi penumbuhan kelembagaan ekonomi petani menggunakan analisis SWOT kemudian di jelaskan menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Penumbuhan kelembagaan ekonomi petani dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor. Secara bersama-bersama variabel umur, pendidikan, status dalam kelompok, lama menjadi anggota, motivasi, komunikasi, kepemimpinan dan peran penyuluh mempengaruhi penumbuhan kelembagaan ekonomi petani dengan nilai Chi-square yang diperoleh adalah 39,285 dengan nilai signifikan 0,000 (<0,05). Kedelapan variabel tersebut memberikan pengaruh sebesar 45,30%, sehingga masih ada variabel lain yang ikut berpengaruh namun tidak dimasukan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil strategi yang dijadikan materi penyuluhan adalah strategi S-O yakni Penumbuhan kelembagaan ekonomi petani dalam bentuk koperasi pertanian melalui bantuan dana PUAP. Strategi ini dianggap sesuai dengan kondisi dan karakteristik kelembagaan petani.

Abstract

The rising demand for sustainable and welfare-conscious poultry production has driven renewed interest in forage-based feeding systems. This systematic review explores the nutritional and functional roles of various forage types such as legumes, grasses, and aquatic plants in poultry diets. The review synthesizes evidence from recent Scopus-indexed publications, focusing on nutrient composition, bioactive properties, performance outcomes, and potential limitations. Forages provide protein, essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and phytochemicals that can enhance feed efficiency, immunity, gut health, and product quality in poultry. Their integration also aligns with circular agriculture principles and improves animal welfare through behavioral enrichment. However, the practical adoption of forage in poultry systems is constrained by variability in nutritional value, the presence of anti-nutritional factors (ANFs), low digestibility, and seasonal availability. Strategies such as fermentation, enzyme supplementation, and preservation techniques offer promising solutions to these challenges. This review identifies key research gaps, including the need for standardization of forage nutritional profiles, optimal inclusion rates, and long-term health impacts. Future directions highlight the potential of integrating precision nutrition technologies and policy support to enhance forage-based systems. Overall, forage represents a valuable component of sustainable poultry feeding strategies that balance performance, welfare, and environmental stewardship.

Abstract

Tropical regions are increasingly vulnerable to climate change, which threatens forage availability and livestock productivity due to drought, land degradation, and water scarcity. Opuntia cochenillifera   (L.) Mill, a drought-tolerant forage cactus, emerges as a promising solution for resilient and sustainable livestock feeding systems. This review explores its botanical and agronomic characteristics, nutritional profile, and environmental adaptability. Opuntia cochenillifera   demonstrates high water-use efficiency, biomass productivity, and nutritional value, making it suitable for arid and semi-arid regions. Its integration into silvopastoral and agroforestry systems enhances environmental sustainability through improved soil health, reduced erosion, and potential carbon sequestration. The cactus also offers economic benefits by lowering feed costs and supporting year-round livestock productivity. However, limitations such as low protein content, potential invasiveness, and high-input management needs remain challenges to be addressed. Future research should focus on genetic improvement, biotechnology applications, and supportive agricultural policies to promote widespread adoption. Overall, Opuntia cochenillifera   holds considerable promise for advancing climate-smart and sustainable livestock systems in tropical regions.

Abstract

Sago flour contains high starch and low price so it can be used as a substitute in making meatballs. The large amount of carbohydrate content (starch) contained in sago flour as a filler makes starch ingredients high and cheap so that it can be used as a substitute in making meatballs. This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of sago flour with different concentrations on the Physical and organoleptic tests of free-range chicken meatballs. This research was carried out in the laboratory room of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Technology, Sumbawa University of Technology, West Nusa Tenggara. This research was carried out in June 2024. Data analysis used a Complete Random Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 adventures. The treatment given in making kampung chicken meatballs is the addition of different chewy ingredients. The results of the study showed that the Physical and organoleptic properties of free-range chicken meatballs with the addition of free-range chicken at different concentrations had an effect on the pH of P0 15% 6.14 ± 0.8a, Taste P0 3.40 ± 0.86a, Color P3 3.16 ± 1.37a. while in the variables of cooking succulents, the yield, aroma and texture did not differ significantly (P>5%).

Abstract

Penyuluhan manajemen ternak sapi diberikan kepada kelompok ternak Iye Gati diDesa Sukadana Kecamatan Pujut Lombok Tengah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dalampemeliharaan, perkandangan, kesehatan, dan reproduksi sapi potong. Keberhasilanpeternakan bergantung pada pembibitan, pakan, dan manajemen pemeliharaan, denganfaktor non-genetik berkontribusi besar terhadap efisiensi reproduksi. Pengabdian inibertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penyuluhan manajemen pemeliharaan ternak sapiyang dilakukan di Kelompok Ternak Iye Gati di Desa Sukadana Kecamatan PujutKabupaten Lombok Tengah. Kurangnya pengetahuan peternak dalam pemeliharaanmenjadi tantangan utama. Penyuluhan dan pelatihan berperan penting dalam meningkatkanwawasan peternak serta mendukung ketahanan pangan dan pertanian berkelanjutan (SDGspoin 2). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui survei, wawancara,observasi, pemaparan materi, dan diskusi untuk meningkatkan produktivitas peternakan diDesa Sukadana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan yang diberikan berhasilmeningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam aspek manajemenpemeliharaan. Peternak yang mengikuti penyuluhan secara aktif menunjukkan peningkatansignifikan dalam praktik beternak yang lebih efisien dan berkelanjutan. Selain itu, hasilevaluasi juga mengungkapkan bahwa penyuluhan membantu mengatasi beberapa masalahyang dihadapi peternak, seperti kekurangan pakan dan penyakit ternak. Kesimpulannya,penyuluhan manajemen pemeliharaan ternak sapi di Kelompok Ternak Desa Sukadana telahmemberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan produktivitas dan kesejahteraanpeternak. Rekomendasi untuk penyuluhan selanjutnya adalah peningkatan frekuensi danvariasi materi penyuluhan, serta pengembangan program pelatihan yang lebih komprehensifuntuk menjawab kebutuhan spesifik peternak di wilayah tersebut.
