Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are crucial contributors to economic growth worldwide. Yet, they often face considerable challenges in fully utilizing digital technologies. This extensive literature review explores the complex relationship between digital literacy and SME entrepreneurial performance across varied global environments. It examines a range of studies highlighting how digital literacy enables SMEs to innovate, integrate e-commerce solutions, enter new markets, and enhance their overall business performance. The review highlights the intricate digital landscape SMEs navigate, marked by regional differences, sector-specific challenges, and the continuous evolution of digital skill needs. The goal of this study is to offer practical recommendations for policymakers and organizations supporting SMEs, suggesting focused measures to bridge the digital skill divide. By improving digital literacy among SMEs, we can unlock their potential, boosting entrepreneurial success and contributing to sustainable economic growth globally.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the potential of human capital, competitive advantages, and women entrepreneurship innovation in Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur, as well as to provide academic policies to the government by establishing a cluster of human resources (HR) expertise and enhancing the development of women entrepreneurship, resulting in regulations to improve human capital and women entrepreneurship. The research problem is how female entrepreneurs can transform HR expertise in their business. The survey sample of active female entrepreneurs in various cities were selected using a multi-stage random sampling method, totaling 47 female entrepreneurs, consisting of 39 respondents from Medan and Deli Serdang, 5 from West Sumatra, and 3 from Kelantan, Malaysia. The qualitative descriptive research and a comparative analysis were applied to this research. This research proves that female entrepreneurs who act as housewives must continue to develop their human resource potential, competitive advantages, and innovative abilities in entrepreneurship to produce superior products, be competitive, increase economic income, and improve the welfare of their families.

Abstract

The era of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA) has created a business environment that is very dynamic and full of uncertainty. This has an impact on the digital transformation carried out by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) so that they remain competitive and sustainable. However, MSMEs face significant challenges in adopting digital technology in this VUCA era. This research uses the Systematic Literature Review ( SLR ) methodology. By exploring relevant literature, this research aims to explore and synthesize the digital transformation challenges faced by MSMEs in the VUCA era based on existing literature. This SLR also explores potential strategies and solutions to overcome these challenges in the context of the VUCA era, such as flexible technology adoption, continuous digital skills training, and strategic collaboration and partnerships. The findings from this SLR provide valuable insights for policy makers, MSME support organizations, and academics to facilitate MSME digital transformation more effectively and sustainably in the challenging VUCA era.

Abstract

Recruitment of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in Indonesia has undergone significant transformation in recent years. The process that was previously dominated by manual mechanisms has now shifted to a digital-based system through the SSCASN platform. This article analyzes the implementation of ASN recruitment in 2024 with an emphasis on transparency, efficiency, and the challenges faced. Using a descriptive-qualitative approach, this article provides insight into how ASN recruitment can continue to be improved to meet the needs of public services in Indonesia.

Abstract

The manufacturing industry often involves work with a high risk of work accidents and employees tend to be followers or workers who only follow the direction of the leadership and standard operating procedures from the company. This study aims to analyse the effect of occupational safety and health and the application of transactional leadership on employee performance through work discipline at PT Wira Duta Fiberglass. This study reveals that the factor that has the most positive and significant effect on employee performance is occupational safety and health, and the factor that has the most positive and significant effect on work discipline is transactional leadership, transactional leadership has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, occupational safety and health has a positive and insignificant effect on work discipline, work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, occupational safety and health has a positive and insignificant effect on employee performance through work discipline, and transactional leadership has a positive and significant effect on employee performance through work discipline.

Abstract

This research aims to determine and analyze the influence of work attitude and work environment on performance through job satisfaction. This research is associative and the type of data used is quantitative data. The population in this study consists of permanent educational staff at Universitas Katolik Santo Thomas. The number of samples in this study is 91 educational staff. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling. The data analysis used is Structural Equation Modeling. The results of this study indicate that work attitude and work environment have a direct, positive, and significant impact on job satisfaction and performance of the educational staff at Universitas Katolik Santo Thomas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of training and development on teacher performance with job satisfaction as a mediating variable among teachers at Namira Islamic School Medan. The urgency of this research lies in the strategic role of teachers in improving education quality and the importance of continuous professional training to support optimal performance. This study employs an associative method with a quantitative approach. The population consists of 114 teachers, with 89 respondents selected as samples using proportionate stratified random sampling and Slovin's formula. The results indicate that training and development have a positive and significant impact on teacher performance. Furthermore, training and development positively influences teacher job satisfaction. Job satisfaction also shows a positive effect on improving teacher performance. Moreover, job satisfaction is proven to mediate the relationship between training and development and teacher performance. These findings highlight the importance of implementing well-structured and relevant training programs, as well as fostering a supportive work environment, to comprehensively enhance teacher performance.

Abstract

Micro, small and medium enterprises are one of the driving factors of the Indonesian economy. This is because this business can be carried out by all levels of Indonesian society. One of the MSME sectors that is widely used is the home catering business. This is because the food business is a business that is always in demand by consumers. The obstacles that many home businesses face are a lack of production equipment and marketing processes that are still very traditional. This activity is expected to be able to improve the production process to be more optimal and in line with consumer needs. Apart from that, this activity is also expected to be able to help partners in their marketing by using social media so that they can be better known to the wider community so that demand for products will increase.

Abstract

In facing various challenges, companies understand that one of their greatest assets is quality of Human Resources (HR). Employees are not only expected to have superior technical skills, but to have skills and knowledge that are in line with business demands as the key to facing ever-growing competition. The existence of the Millennial generation has become the focus of attention for companies and organizations, not only because their numbers are increasing in the workplace but also because there are differences in characteristics and points of view with other generations. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of work-life balance and work motivation on performance through job satisfaction. This research was conducted at Bank SUMUT Medan Sukaramai Branch Office with a sample of 70 respondents who were Millennial generation employees. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and path analysis with the Smart PLS application. The research results show that work-life balance directly has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on performance, work motivation has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, work motivation has a positive and significant effect on performance, and job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on performance. Indirectly, work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on performance through job satisfaction and work motivation has a positive and significant effect on performance through job satisfaction.

Abstract

Organizational commitment is an important aspect that determines the long-term performance and success of a company. Business developments continue to change so it is necessary to look at employee security in maintaining their jobs. Job insecurity and job stress are important issues in the dynamic and unstable startup work environment, which can have a negative impact on employees' well-being, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Job satisfaction felt by employees can also reduce job satisfaction which has an impact on increasing performance. Employees who are satisfied with the work they have obtained will be motivated to improve their performance so that it will have an impact on increasing overall organizational performance thereby increasing loyalty and productivity in their company. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of job insecurity and work stress on organizational commitment through job satisfaction in employees of startup companies in the city of Medan. The population in this study was 420 employees from 47 Startup companies in Medan City from various businesses so that the population was used as a sample of 100 respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and SEM (Structural Equation Model) analysis. with the sampling method used Simple Random Sampling or Proportional Stratified Random Sampling. The research results show that job insecurity directly has a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction and is significant on organizational commitment, work stress has a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction and is significant on organizational commitment, and job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment. Indirectly, job insecurity has a negative and significant effect on organizational commitment through job satisfaction and job stress has a negative and insignificant effect on organizational commitment through job satisfaction.
