Abstract

Laboratory course activities often focus on "cookbook style," so their activities have not yet integrated with scientific thinking as an essential aspect. In this research, the laboratory experience of microbial analysis techniques was redesigned using alternative inquiry to involve students in isolating and characterising yeast to make the bread rise. This research aimed to determine the effect of implementing inquiry-based laboratory experiences on improving students' technical skills and the structure and characteristics of laboratory courses. The method used a single case study to obtain a complete picture regarding implementing laboratory course redesign. Laboratory experience activities consisted of pre-laboratory (reinforcement of theory) and investigation (preparation of methods, laboratory investigation activities, data analysis and presentation, and writing written reports). Overall, our results suggest that inquiry-based laboratory experiences can improve students' microbial analysis technique skills in strong collaboration. In addition, students considered several benefits from this learning, such as developing designs and conducting laboratory investigations close to the original context. With these results, educators can use the redesign of this laboratory course without applying full "course-based undergraduate research experiences" to students.

Abstract

Student organizations that exist in tertiary institutions cause different activities for students, just as students who are active in organizations are students who take their time to participate in student organization activities, but do not leave the obligation to take part in lecture activities. The purpose of this study was to find out the comparisons or differences between students who actively participate in organizations and students who do not join organizations regarding the presentation of learning outcomes at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Uinsu class of 2020. The research method uses a quantitative research approach, namely research whose analysis techniques emphasize data- data in the form of numbers and processed with statistical methods to show the relationship between variables. The research design uses a comparative research design (comparative). The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative statistics in the form of a student test ("t" test). The results showed that students who were not active in organizations scored higher than students who were active in organizations. However, there is no significant difference but the difference is not too far. Keywords: comparison of presentations, students, organizations, class of 2020

Abstract

The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model of high-level intellectual learning, namely analysis, criticism, and conclusions is applied to LKPD used as a support in learning activities according to the competencies achieved. The research aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of PBL-based worksheets on excretory system material. This type of research is Research and Development (RnD) with a 4D model (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). The results showed that student worksheets based on problem-based learning were made with a score of 100% (content validation) very valid criteria, 75% (construct validation) valid criteria, 98% (biology teacher response), and 81.5% (student responses) very practical criteria. The LKPD proved to be effective in achieving increased results (N-Gain) by achieving a high-class average score of 0.702. And it was concluded that the PBL-based LKPD that was made was valid, practical, and effectively applied in classroom learning activities

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang bertujuan mengembangkan video pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbimbing pada materi sistem hormon yang valid dan praktis sehingga layak digunakan oleh guru dan peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Model pengembangan yang digunakan mengacu pada model pengembangan 4D, yang terdiri dari tahap pendefinisian (define), tahap perancangan (design), tahap pengembangan (develop), dan tahap penyebaran (disseminate). Namun pada penelitian ini hanya pada sampai tahap pengembangan (develop). Tahap define tediri dari analisis ujung depan, analisis peserta didik, analisis konsep, analisis tugas dan perumusan tujuan. Tahap design dilakukan perancangan materi pembelajaran dan perancangan video. Tahap develop dilakukan melalui uji validitas oleh validator ahli media dan ahli materi, dan uji praktikalitas oleh guru dan peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Beringin. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Beringin adalah: 1) penilaian kevalidan video pembelajaran oleh ahli media dan ahli materi dengan persentase 94,2% berada pada kategori sangat valid; 2) respon guru dan peserta didik untuk video pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dengan persentase 85,7% berada pada kategori sangat praktis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka video pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbimbing dengan model 4D valid dan praktis digunakan dan diujicobakan dengan skala terbatas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan karakter peserta didik, sekaligus meningkatkan minat baca dan mengatasi kesulitan belajar dalam materi sistern ekskresi untuk kelas XI. Penelitian ini mengadopsi metode penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan model Borg and Gall. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 10 Medan selama semester genap tahun pelajaran 2023/2024, dengan melibatkan 12 peserta didik dalam ujicoba skala kecil dan 30 peserta didik dalam ujicoba skala besar. Hasil evaluasi mengenai kelayakan media komik digital menunjukkan bahwa menurut ahli, pengembangan media komik digital ini dapat dianggap "sangat layak," seperti yang tercermin dalam perolehan persentase rata-rata ahli materi sebesar 96,42% dan ahli media sebesar 94%. Dalam hal aspek bahasa, komik digital biologi dinilai sebagai sesuatu yang layak digunakan, dengan persentase nilai kelayakan mencapai 66,66%. Tanggapan guru terhadap komik digital ini juga sangat positif, dengan perolehan persentase sebesar 87,06%, yang mengindikasikan bahwa media ini sangat layak untuk digunakan. Demikian pula, tanggapan peserta didik menyatakan bahwa media yang dikembangkan sangat layak, dengan persentase kelayakan mencapai 83,9% dan 87,19%. Selama penelitian, karakter peserta didik mengalami peningkatan sebesar 19,01%, dari nilai awal sebesar 47% menjadi 66,01%. Oleh karena itu, media komik ini dianggap efektif dalam meningkatkan karakter peserta didik. Dengan temuan ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media komik digital biologi yang berorientasi pada pendidikan karakter dalam materi sistem ekskresi untuk peserta didik kelas XI di SMA/MA sangat sesuai untuk digunakan oleh guru sebagai solusi dalam meningkatkan nilai karakter dan kualitas pembelajaran dalam mata pelajaran biologi di SMA/MA.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the percentage level of 21st century skills in students at SMA Negeri 1 Beringin in Biology Learning. The research methodology uses descriptive quantitative descriptive research. The research population was students of class X-1 and X-2 of SMA Negeri 1 Beringin with a total sample of 69 students. Data collection techniques with interviews, test instruments, observation sheets and documentation. Data analysis techniques using validity and reliability tests and analysis using percentage value analysis. The results showed that the 21st century skill level of SMA Negeri 1 Beringin students in Biology Learning obtained a percentage score of 72.28% in the good category. The percentage value of each aspect of 21st century skills is critical thinking skills 75.00%, creative thinking skills 61.08%, communication skills 76.81%, and collaboration skills 75.94%.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the critical thinking skills of class X IPA students at Harapan Bangsa Tanjung Morawa High School in the matter of ecosystems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The instruments used are critical thinking test questions, observation sheets, interviews and documentation. Data collection was carried out in April 2023. The sample used in this research was class X Science students, totaling 28 students. The research results show that students' critical thinking abilities in class X Science are relatively low with a percentage of 72.6⁒. The critical thinking indicator that has the highest percentage is the strategy and tactics indicator with a percentage of 83⁒ and the lowest indicator is the conclusion indicator with a percentage of 62⁒. Other indicators are providing simple explanations with a percentage of 78⁒, indicators providing further explanations 64⁒, and indicators of building basic skills 76⁒.

Abstract

This study aims to know the integrated pedagogical competence of wahdatul ulum in pre-service biology teacher. The measured pedagogical competence indicators focused on the design and implementation of learning. It can be seen from the ability of students to develop wahdatul ulum-based learning scenarios and its implementation. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method using learning scenario assessment sheet and observation sheet on the implementation of learning scenarios as data collection instruments. Participants were 4th semester of biology education students who take biology learning strategy courses. 12 participants were selected by purposive sampling. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that pre-service biology teacher students were able to create an excellent learning scenario covering aspects of the completeness of the learning scenario components, the suitability of the subject name, the selection of learning models, the formulation of learning activities, and language. The suitability of learning objectives and wahdatul ulum aspects were classified as good. There needs to be an emphasis to put the learning objectives in learning scenarios so that the learning outcomes are clear. The meaning of the verses of the Qur'an regarding the material also needs to be explained to support the integration of wahdatul ulum in learning. In the implementation of learning, each stage of the preliminary activity, core activity, and closing activity was carried out very well, according to the learning scenario that had been made. The implication of this research is that there is a need for strengthening of a comprehensive understanding in the delivery of material on learning strategies and planning for biology course

Abstract

This study aims to review, investigate, and compare various research published in Scopus-indexed journals related to the theme of literacy for disabilities so that it will contribute to the development of literacy studies for disability groups. This study used the systematic literature review method with the PRISMA 2020 model. The search was conducted in the Scopus database, inclusion-exclusion, to obtain 41 articles. Data were collected from the Scopus database tend to increase in 2019-2023. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The study results showed that this theme (literacy and disability) has broad dimensions and involves all parties. Various aspects of literacy can be promoted for people with disabilities, although there are adjustments. Ahlgrim-Delzell is the dominant researcher, the reference, and the pivot. The disability aspect was related to education, children, and young adults. Interestingly, the theme "literacy and disabilities" is the focus of researchers from all continents and is generally written in groups. Although this theme deserves global attention, it is not yet interesting for international cooperation. We discuss all aspects of the trend. Researcher interest continues to increase regarding "literacy and disabilities," which can be seen based on distribution year, research types/methods, instruments, study aspects, author, keywords, author's nationality, and collaboration.
