Abstract

This research aims to develop learning media in the form of a virtual laboratory for practicum observing protists and to find out how to develop procedures, their practicality and their effectiveness. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research with a 4 D research design, namely: define, design, develop, and disseminate,/1 however this research was only carried out to the develop stage due to researcher limitations. The subjects in the research were 30 class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Perbaungan. The research instruments used are validation sheets from media experts and material experts to measure the validity of the virtual laboratory, response sheets from field practitioners (Teachers) and students to measure the practicality of the virtual Laboratory. The research results show that the virtual laboratory has an appropriate category based on the percentage of validity by media expert validators of 80.33%, material expert validators of 98.66%. The virtual laboratory was declared very feasible based on the percentage obtained from student responses in phase I product trials of 92.71%, phase II product trials of 86.58%, and the percentage based on teacher responses was 100%. Recommendations for future researchers and teachers to develop a three-dimensional virtual laboratory to provide a more real experience for students when simulating a practicum.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze and determine the implementation of biology practicum and analyze the problems at SMAS Muhammadiyah 9 Kualuh Hulu. This research was conducted in a laboratory room at SMAS Muhammadiyah 9 Kualuh Hulu. This research is a type of qualitative research in this research which produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from the behavior of the people being observed. Participants in this research were students in classes X, XI, XII IPA. This research uses research procedures in the form of observation, interviews, documentation, questionnaires. The instruments in this research were interview sheets and questionnaire sheets. Data analysis techniques, data reduction (data reduction), data display (data presentation), Conclusion Drawing or Verification (Conclusion or verification). Data validity test, namely triangulation.

Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan Ibu Dwi selaku guru Biologi SMAS Persiapan Stabat dengan peneliti bahwa mayoritas hasil belajar siswa kelas XI baik nilai harian, nilai ujian tengah semester atau bahkan nilai ujian semester masih dibawah KKM yaitu pada rentang 70-80. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif. Lokasi penelitian dilaksanakan di Sekolah Menengah Atas Swasta (SMAS) Persiapan Stabat. Penelitian akan dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei - Juni pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak dua kelas yaitu kelas XI IPA 3 dan kelas XI IPA 4, dimana kelas XI IPA 3 memiliki 25 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI IPA 4. Dengan demikian, jumlah siswa seluruhnya adalah 52. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari definisi konseptual, definisi operasional, kisi-kisi dan kalibrasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelas eksperimen menunjukkan hasil yang lebih signifikan karena proses pembelajaran menggunakan model PBL sehingga mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Hasil uji statistik uji-t sampel independen terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < sig. = 0,005. Hal ini berarti bahwa kegiatan pembelajaran dengan model PBL berbantuan media informasi pada materi sistem imun berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract

The use of learning video media can attract students' attention so that it fosters curiosity and is motivated to learn. This study aims to determine the level of feasibility of learning video media based on the scientific approach that was developed. The eligibility criteria for the learning video used is validity. The development model used refers to the Borg and Gall model, where there are two main criteria, namely the design of learning videos and validation of learning videos. Assessment of the validity of the instructional video was evaluated by material experts and media experts. The test results are declared valid with an average percentage of 90% material experts, the average percentage of media experts is 90.8%. And the average percentage of the results of the limited field trial is 91.55%. The student learning outcomes have an N-Gain score of 0.60, this indicates a moderate category, the percentage of N-Gain Score is 60.09% with a fairly effective category. The overall results indicate that the learning video media based on a scientific approach is very feasible to be used as a medium for learning biology on cell material. The results of this study are expected to improve students' scientific thinking skills so that students have the ability to solve any problems they face and have high learning outcomes.Keywords: learning videos, scientific approach, research and development.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp844-853

Abstract

This study aims to develop a interactive multimedia based on STEM that was valid, practical and effective, to able improve motivation Students in biology learning. The study employs the method of research and development. The research model is model 4D (define, design, development, and dissemination). Based on validity test, the interactive multimedia based on STEM was categorized as very valid with 95,6 % by a materials expert and was categorized as very valid with 85% by a media expert. Based on practicality test, the interactive multimedia practically used with 77 % practicality level by educators response and verry practically with 77, 94% by students response. Based the questionnaire motivation students was very effective with 79,07%. Abstract

A teacher, especially a science subject teacher at SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate, is required to choose and use a variety of appropriate learning methods or strategies to help improve student learning outcomes. One of the efforts that can be made to improve biology learning outcomes and meet biology goals is to apply an appropriate learning model. In this study using quantitative research methods where in this study we conducted experiments on 2 classes of SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate. The conventional method of sampling technique used in this study is a random technique sampling where the population has an equal opportunity to become the research sample. The selection of this sample was carried out by drawing lots of three classes with the same major to take two classes that would be used as research samples (random class in parallel class). This research was conducted in class IX at SMP PAB 10 Medam Estate, academic year 2022/2023. The number of samples in this study were 64 students. This sample is divided into 2 classes where the first class is an experimental class which is taught using the STAD type cooperative learning method and the second group is a control class which is taught by the lecture method which only asks students to pay attention to the material provided by the teacher.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of scientific literacy of high school biology textbooks grade XI based on the theme of scientific literacy and specifically this study emphasizes the dimensions of scientific literacy. This study uses a qualitative approach with the method (content analysis). The selection of biology textbooks analyzed using purposive sampling technique obtained two biology textbooks grade XI used in Medan Tembung District. Data on the assessment of scientific literacy was collected by analyzing one chapter in the biology textbook. Data analysis was conducted using the documentation method. The results of the research on the two books showed that scientific literacy as a body of knowledge became the most dominant dimension appearing in book II at 75% while in book I at 72.5%. The dimension of science as a way of thinking has a small proportion in book II which is 45%, while in book I it is 42.5%. Science as a way of investigation with an average percentage in book II of 45%, while in book I it is 42.5%. The dimension of science and its interaction with technology and society appears more after science as a body of knowledge, in book II which is 55% and book I is 52.5%. From these results, it can be concluded that the level of scientific literacy of grade XI high school biology textbooks used in Medan Tembung District is quite good according to the assessment criteria. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat literasi ilmiah buku teks pelajaran Biologi SMA kelas XI berdasarkan tema literasi ilmiah dan secara khusus penelitian ini menekankan pada dimensi literasi ilmiah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode (content analysis). Pemilihan buku teks pelajaran biologi yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling didapat dua buku teks pelajaran biologi kelas XI yang digunakan di Kecamatan Medan Tembung. Data penilaian terhadap literasi ilmiah dikumpulkan dengan menganalisis satu bab pada buku teks biologi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian pada kedua buku menunjukkan bahwa literasi sains sebagai batang tubuh pengetahuan menjadi dimensi yang paling dominan muncul pada buku II sebesar 75% sedangkan pada buku I sebesar 72.5%. Dimensi sains sebagai cara berfikir proporsinya sedikit pada buku II yaitu sebesar 45%, sedangkan pada buku I 42.5%. Sains sebagai jalan investigasi dengan rata-rata persentase pada buku II sebesar 45%, sedangkan pada buku I sebesar 42.5%. Dimensi sains dan interaksinya dengan teknologi dan masyarakat muncul lebih banyak setelah sains sebagai batang tubuh pengetahuan, pada buku II yaitu sebesar 55% dan buku I sebesar 52.5%. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingakat literasi ilmiah buku teks pelajaran biologi SMA kelas XI yang digunakan di Kecamatan Medan Tembung cukup baik sesuai dengan kriteria penilaian.

Abstract

This research investigates the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on students' creative thinking during the digestive system learning at SMAS Brigjend Katamso II. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study was all XI students at SMAS Brigjend Katamso II, which consisted of 4 classes with a total of 135 students. The research sample using the Cluster Random Sampling technique consisted of two classes: Science 2 with 34 students as the experimental class and Science 3 with 34 students as the control class. The research instrument used was a description test consisting of 4 questions to measure students' creative thinking abilities. This research hypothesis was carried out using the T-test with normal and homogeneous conditions. The results of the post-test analysis of the T test obtained tcount 4.34 and ttable 1.69, thus showing the hypothesis test results that tcount > ttable where Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. So, there is the influence of the project based learning model on the ability to think creatively about the digestive system material for class XI SMA/MA students.

Abstract

The Problem Based Learning (PBL) model of high-level intellectual learning, namely analysis, criticism, and conclusions is applied to LKPD used as a support in learning activities according to the competencies achieved. The research aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of PBL-based worksheets on excretory system material. This type of research is Research and Development (RnD) with a 4D model (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). The results showed that student worksheets based on problem-based learning were made with a score of 100% (content validation) very valid criteria, 75% (construct validation) valid criteria, 98% (biology teacher response), and 81.5% (student responses) very practical criteria. The LKPD proved to be effective in achieving increased results (N-Gain) by achieving a high-class average score of 0.702. And it was concluded that the PBL-based LKPD that was made was valid, practical, and effectively applied in classroom learning activities

Abstract

Pendidik selama ini belum memanfaatkan media pembelajaran secara ideal dalam mengajarnya, hal ini dikarenakan keterbatasan biaya dan waktu dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran sehingga motivasi guru dalam membuat media efektif, efisien, kreatif berkurang. Maka,  mengakibatkan siswa-siswi menjadi tidaktermotivasi dalam belajar dan minat bealajrnya berkurang.Tujuan umum dari pelaksanaan adalah peserta didik dapat memanfaatkan barang bekas sebagai media pembelajaran yang dapat membantu dalam proses pembelajaran serta dapat mengembangkan kreativitas peserta didik, dan juga dapat menanamkan nilai kepedulian terhadap lingkungan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah metode PAR (Participatory Action Research). Terdapat tiga tahapan yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi. Evaluasi dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini diukur dengan menggunakan angket untuk melihat respon siswa terhadap media pembelajaran dari barang bekas yang dilakukan, hasil angket respon siswa kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan skala Likert. Persentase rata-rata hasil angket respon siswa yaitu sebesar 90% yang menunjukkan pelatihan pemanfaatan barang bekas sebagai media pembelajaran biologi pada sistem pernapasan masuk kedalam kategori yang sangat baik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemanfaatan barang bekas sebagai media pembelajaran Biologi pada materi sistem pernapasan dapat menjadi salah satu tambahan alternative media pembelajaran untuk membantu pemahaman peserta didik, dapat meningkatkan kreativitas siswa, meningkatkan minat siswa, serta dapat mengedukasi mengenai pentingnya daur ulang sampah plastik untuk melestarikan lingkungan.
