Abstract

AbstractThe new curriculum for junior high schools known as Curriculum 2004 calls for a change in the name of the school subject PhysicalScience into Physical Knowledge. The change in name has veryimportant consquences on education in science. One of the mostimportant consquences is that the subject should be taught in anintegrated way. This article studies the consquences of the changein the name of the subject on its instruction and whether thestructure of the curriculum enables the subject to be taught in an integratedway.The results of the study indicate that a consquence of the change in the name of the subject is that the way junior high school students learn science is not to be as scientific as scientists; rather, they are to come only to the level of introduction to concepts and scientific work which is applied in nature (which implies applied science). Therefore, there needs to be a change in the formulation of leaning objectives and a simplification of the basic copmpetencies to be achieved and the indicators of achievement. An integrated teaching of the subject in an integrated way, however, can ideally be conducted only when the development of the important aspects (or the strands) of the subject in the curriculum is based on themes or problems instead of objects. The objects selected should represent a facilitation of the mastery of scientific concepts to be developed in students, as seen in the structure of the curriculum used in Singapore or of the one proposed a science teachers association in the United States.Key words: science education curriculum, integrated science education

Abstract

Penelitian Tindakan Kelas(PTK) ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan mahasiswa menstrukturisasi pengetahuan hasil belajarnya dengan cara menggambarkan peta pengetahuannya (mental map). untuk memacu perkembangan kemampuan mahasiswa tersebut digunakan pendektatan konstruktivisme melalui tiga tahap (three steps of constructivist learning) sebagaimana yang dikembangkan di Jepang. Sebanyak 55 mahasiswa yang mengambil matakuliah Pendidikan Biologi terlihat sebagai subjek dalam penelitian ini. penelitian menggunakan dua siklus. Siklus pertama mengambil topik Biologi dalam Pendidikan Biologi, siklus kedua mengambil topik siswa sebagai subjek belajar.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian penyusunan media pembelajaran berupa video yang layak untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep suksesi. Metode pengambilan video berlokasi di lereng Merapi yang sesuai dengan perkiraan perkembangan suksesi ekosistem. Pengujian kelayakan produk melibatkan beberapa ahli sedangkan pengujian kelas terdiri dari uji coba terbatas dan uji coba lapangan. Uji coba terbatas melibatkan 30 mahasiswa sedangkan uji coba lapangan melibatkan 30 mahasiswa kelas eksperimen dan 30 mahasiswa kelas kontrol. Penelitian pertama tentang kondisi perkuliahan, penelitian kedua tentang pengujian produk. Hasil uji produk, mendapatkan penilaian minimal “Baik”. Uji coba terbatas, hasilnya “Sangat Baik”. Pada uji coba lapangan, produk diuji penggunaannya pada peningkatan motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep, serta uji beda terhadap kelas kontrol. Hasil uji kelayakan mendapatkan penilaian “Baik” dan analisis gain score kedua variabel, mendapatkan hasil lebih tinggi untuk kelas eksperimen. Hasil uji beda menandakan adanya perbedaan antara kedua kelas, artinya media pembelajaran berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep. Kata Kunci: foto, video, perbandingan, suksesi ekosistem, gunung Merapi, motivasi belajar, penguasaan konsep.   THE DEVELOPMENT OF VIDEO LEARNING ECOSYSTEM SUCCESSION TO IMPROVE LEARNING MOTIVATION AND MASTERY OF CONCEPT FOR BIOLOGICAL STUDENTS Abstract This research was aimed to establish video learning ecosystem succession that deserves to improve learning motivation and mastery of the concept of succession. Capturing video is located on the slopes of Merapi, which according to estimates of ecosystem succession development. Testing the feasibility of a product involves several experts and testing in a class consisting of limited testing and field trial tests. Limited test involving 30 students while the field trial involving 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. The first step in this research is to analyze condition of the course and the second step is on product testing. Test results of product, get a minimum grade is "good". On limited testing, the results is "Very Good". In field trial tests, its use product tested on improving learning motivation and mastery of concepts, as well as different test against the control class. The results of the feasibility test get grades of "Good" and the gain score analysis the both of variable, getting higher results for the experimental class. Results of the different test indicate a difference between the two classes, it means video learning influential to improving learning motivation and mastery of concepts. Abstract

AbstractIndonesian Government, putting into action the Educational System Law, isstarting its efforts this year to develop schools to reach international standardschools (SBI). The Educational System Law (2003), specifically act number 20, statesthat The government and/or district develop at least one school in every level tobe promoted into an international standard school (SBI). That act arises manyquestions in the school level concerning the international standards school (SBI),such as what is SBI, what is the main goal, what is the requirement of schools to bepromoted as SBI, how can schools develop themselves to reach SBI, what is thecriterion of the success? Indeed, there are many ways for schools to developthemselves into an international level. Every school may use a different way thatsuitable to the schools condition. This paper brings to mind the LearningOrganization (LO) as one of the generic promising ways to develop a school into aninternational level. LO is basically an organization that learns and doescontinuously improvement. LO comprises of five major components: (1) sharedvision, (2) system thinking, (3) personal mastery, (4) mental models, and (5) teamlearning. Abstract

Abstract: Biology learning must utilize technology and direct students to have problem solving skills, so that learning innovations are blended-problem based learning. This study aims to look at the effectiveness of blended-problem based learning on problem solving, when compared to learning that applies the scientific approach (5M). This study categorized as quasi-experimental research, using the design of the pretest-posttest control group. The independent t-test obtained the sig value. 0.00 <0.05, so that it can be interpreted that the posttest value of the executive class and control is significantly different. N-Gain score testing was obtained from the 0.70 high category experimental class, while 0.298 for the low category control class. Based on these data, blended-problem based learning can be said to be effective against solving ecological chapter problems.Abstrak: Pembelajaran Biologi harus memanfaatkan teknologi dan mengarahkan peserta didik memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah sehingga memunculkan inovasi pembelajaran blended-problem based learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat keefektifan blended-problem based learning pada pemecahan masalah, jika dibandingkan pembelajaran yang menerapkan pendekatan saintifik (5M). Penelitian ini dikategorikan penelitian eksperimen semu menggunakan desain pretest-posttest control group. Uji independent t-test memperoleh nilai sig. 0,00<0,05, sehingga dapat diartikan nilai posttest kelas ekseprimen dan kontrol berbeda signinifikan. Pengujian N-Gain score diperoleh reratal kelas ekspeimen 0,70 kategori tinggi, sedangkan 0,298 untuk kelas kontrol kategori rendah. Berdasarkan data tersebut, blended-problem based learning dapat dikatakan efektif terhadap pemecahan masalah bab ekologi.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of developing e-modules based on this contextual approach is to determine the quality, feasibility, and effectiveness of the developed e-modules. This research uses ADDIE model divided into five stages, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this study are e-modules based on a contextual approach to the reflex movement, the average overall evaluation criteria are very good, namely media experts by 84%, learning experts by 84%, biology teachers by 69%, small class trials by 80% and large.Abstrak: Tujuan dari pengembangan e-modul berbasis pendekatan kontekstual ini adalah untuk mengetahui kualitas, kelayakan, dan keefektifan e-modul yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE terbagi lima tahap, yaitu analysis, design, development, implementation, dan evalution. Hasil penelitian ini berupa e-modul berbasis pendekatan kontekstual pada sub materi gerak refleks, rata-rata penilaian keseluruhan kriteria sangat baik yaitu ahli media sebesar 84%, ahli pembelajaran sebesar 84%, guru biologi sebesar 69%, uji coba kelas kecil sebesar 80%dan uji coba kelas besar sebanyak 74%. Berdasarkan hasil penilaian tersebut, e-modul berbasis pendekatan kontekstual pada sub materi gerak refleks sangat layak digunakan sebagai media/bahan ajar di sekolah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan proses sains melalui percobaan sederhana pada anak usia 5-6 tahun di TK IT Albina Kota Ternate. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (kolaboratif) yang terdiri dari tiga siklus enam pertemuan. Subjek penelitian adalah anak-anak kelas B2 yang berjumlah 19 anak terdiri dari 8 anak laki-laki dan 11 anak perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi dan catatan lapangan. Instrumen menggunakan lembar observasi Keterampilan Proses Sains (KPS) anak dan lembar observasi kegiatan guru selama kegiatan pembelajaran. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif  kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan keterampilan proses sains anak secara keseluruhan pada siklus I sebesar 59,38%, siklus II sebesar 66,12% dan siklus III sebesar 78,82% dengan keterampilan proses sains masing-masing indikator KPS selama tiga siklus sebagai berikut: (1) KPS Membuat dugaan adalah 53,84%, 60,53%, 73,55%, (2) KPS mengamati adalah 65,02%, 71,71%, 85%, (3) KPS mengklasifikasi adalah 64,25%, 69,08%, 84,01%, dan (4) KPS mengkomunikasikan sebesar 54,39%, 63,08%, 72,70%. Aktivitas kegiatan guru mengalami peningkatan sebesar 36,84% dan 47,37% siklus I, 63,16% dan 73,68% siklus II, 89,47% dan 94,74% siklus III.Kata kunci: keterampilan proses sains, percobaan sederhana, anak usia 5-6 tahun Improving KPS Through the Simple Experiment for the 5-6 Year-Old Students in TK-IT Albina Ternate AbstractThis research is aimed to find out the improvement of the science skill through the simple experiment for the 5-6 year-old students in TK IT Albina, Ternate. This research was a Classroom Action Research (collaborative) consisted of three cycles with six meetings. The subjects of the research were the students of Class B2 in TK IT Albina Ternate which were 19 students consisting of 8 boys and 11 girls. The data collection techniques were by observing and making field notes. The instruments of the research used the students Science Process Skills (SPS) observation sheets and teacher observation sheets during the process of studying. The data then were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of this research indicats the improvement of science process skill entirely in the Cycle I is 59.38 %, in Cycle II is 66.12%, and in Cycle III is 78.82% with each SPS indicator as (1) SPS made judgment is 53.84%, 60.53%, 73.55%, (2) SPS observing is 65.02%, 71.71%, and 85%, (3) SPS classifiying is 64.25%, 69.08%, 84.01%, and (4) SPS communicating is 54.39%, 63.08%, 72.70%. In Cycle I The teacher’s activities improve from 36.84% to 47.37%, in Cycle II much as 63,16% and 73.68%, and in cycle III is 89.47%.Keywords: science process skill, simple experiment, 5-6 years-old students

Abstract

Media video pembelajaran merupakan salah satu alternatif yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Didalam video pembelajaran dilengkapi perpaduan antara suara, gambar, ataupun animasi yang dapat divisualisasikan sehingga peserta didik lebih senang dan termotivasi untuk belajar dalam pembelajaran biologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifias penggunaan video pembelajaran terhadap motivasi belajar peserta didik. Motivasi belajar yang dialami peserta didik dalam penelitian ini ditinjau berdasarkan penggunaan media video pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh pendidik dalam pembelajaran yang dikaji berdasarkan hasil-hasil penelitian terkait yang pernah dilakukan oleh peneliti sebelumnya. Dari perolehan hasil menyatakan bahwa pendapat siswa sangat terbantu terhadap penggunaan video baik didalam negeri maupun luar negeri diperoleh persentasi rata-rata 121. Frekuansi penggunaan video bagi guru mulai dari negara maju hingga negara tertinggal, menyatakan ada yang sangat setuju hingga kurang setuju terhadap penggunaan media video pembelajaran, dengan hasil rata-rata frekuensi tersebut sebesar 191,0. Sedangkan perolehan rata-rata nilai hasil belajar diperoleh sebesar 85,30. Perolehan total rata-rata hasil belajar tersebut menyatakan bahwa, sangat tinggi terhadap penggunaan video pembelajaran.

Abstract

Understanding the concept of numeral symbols in early childhood is fundamental to understanding mathematical concepts in the future. In view of that, children aged 4-5 years found many problems such as unable to distinguish the form of number symbols, unappropriated learning strategies, and monotonous learning activities. This study aimed to: (1) develop the learning strategies using number circuit games to introduce numeral symbols for 4-5-year-old-children; (2) assess the effectiveness of implementing number circuit games as the learning strategies introducing numeral symbols for 4-5-year-old children. ADDIE with five stages – namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation – was adopted in this research. The data were analyzed descriptively through qualitative and quantitative techniques. The evidence revealed that: (1) the introduction of numeral symbols for 4-5-year-old children by memorizing and understandings required the implementation of game-based learning strategies; (2) number circuit games which were modified based on the material, the implementation, and the purpose were suitable for children of 4-5 years old; (3) learning strategies using number circuit games to introduce numeral symbols for children of 4-5 year with p-value. Sig 0.000 < 0.05 had revealed that there were significant differences in children’s ability in identifying the numeral symbols.
