Abstract

The Covid-19 Pandemic, spanning from 2020 to 2022, ushered in unprecedented challenges for the healthcare system, impacting nurses who played a pivotal role in the global and Indonesian responses. Nurses faced emotional exhaustion, diminished job satisfaction, and suboptimal working conditions, compounded by increased responsibilities and monotony in delivering healthcare services. Utilizing purposive sampling, 88 nurses participated, providing data through a demographic questionnaire, Perceived Stress Scale, and Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQoL-21). Nurses' quality of life (p-value = 0.000). Conversely, age, gender, tenure, experience in caring for Covid-19 patients, and career level exhibited no significant correlations. The findings underscore the importance of addressing stress as a determinant of nurses' well-being. Abstract

Fatigue is one of the most common and disturbing symptoms among cancer patients, affecting almost all individuals undergoing radiotherapy, which lasts for a long time and interferes with the quality of life in performing daily activities. There has been a lot of research on the causative factors of fatigue in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. However, there is still a lack of literature review that looks at what are the factors that cause fatigue in cancer patients in general who undergo radiotherapy. This study aims to review existing literature to screen for factors contributing to fatigue in breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. This study is a systematic review using The Joanna Briggs Institute Guideline and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Of the 220 articles found in PubMed, ScienceDirect, and JSTOR databases (years 2017-2022), 77 articles met the full-text access criteria. After rigorous selection, 7 articles were selected for analysis. These articles were reviewed using a quantitative analysis approach to identify demographic, clinical, treatment, and psychosocial factors associated with fatigue in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. The results showed that there are several factors that cause fatigue in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy including demographic factors (age, occupation, education level), clinical factors (hemoglobin level, comorbidities, cancer stage), treatment factors (number of fractions, fraction dose), and psychosocial factors (insomnia, anxiety, and depression). Management of fatigue in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy requires a comprehensive approach that considers demographic, clinical, treatment, and psychosocial factors that influence the patient's condition. Thus, effective interventions should include all these factors to improve patients' quality of life.

Abstract

This study is a systematic review that aims to evaluate the effect of exercise on mental health, especially in overcoming stress and anxiety. By reviewing a number of studies selected through strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, the review gathered data from a variety of sources including peer-reviewed journals, articles. The data analysis method used is meta-analysis. The results showed that physical activity can significantly reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety. This applies to different types of sports, from aerobics, yoga, to strength training. This therapeutic effect is associated with the release of endorphins and other neurotransmitters that play a role in improving mood and reducing tension. In addition, exercise also improves sleep quality and aids in the regulation of circadian rhythms, which directly affect the management of stress and anxiety. The study also found that exercise intensity and duration played a role in its tiveness. Light to moderate exercise, performed regularly, is more effective in reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety compared to sporadic high-intensity exercise. Consistency and continuity in exercise routines prove to be more important than the intensity of exercise performed. However, the study also acknowledged variations in individual responses to exercise. Factors such as age, gender, initial health conditions, and personal preference for the type of exercise can affect how effective exercise is at coping with stress and anxiety in a particular individual. Taken together, these findings provide strong evidence supporting the use of exercise as a non-pharmacological strategy in managing stress and anxiety. The study encourages health practitioners to recommend exercise as an integral part of mental health treatment plans, as well as suggesting further research to explore specific mechanisms behind the psychological benefits of physical activity.

Abstract

Introduction: The research aimed to investigate the correlation between health literacy levels, medication adherence, and quality of life among hemodialysis patients with chronic kidney disease. Methods: The research employed a cross-sectional design. A random sample of 164 hemodialysis patients from two hemodialysis facilities in Padang, Indonesia, was collected between May and June 2023. Inclusion criteria were patients undergoing hemodialysis twice a week and aged over 18 years. Patients who experienced a decrease in consciousness and memory disorders such as dementia were excluded from this study. The questionnaires used to measure variables in this study were the demographic data questionnaire, the HLS-EU-Q16 health literacy questionnaire, the MMAS-8 medication adherence questionnaire, and the KDQOL-36 quality of life questionnaire for chronic kidney disease patients. Results: The high health literacy group (N = 73) exhibited a markedly superior quality of life compared to those in the mid-level (N = 48) and low-level (N = 43) health literacy groups. Multiple regression analysis revealed that, of the three components of health literacy, health promotion has the greatest influence on patients' quality of life, contributing 25.1%, while the aspect of healthcare has the greatest influence on medication adherence, contributing 43.3%. Abstract

Respiratory muscle weakness in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a problem that can affect the patient's ability to conduct daily activities. The aim of this study to see the difference between the intervention group given the pursed-lip breathing exercises, diaphragmatic breathing, and upper limb stretching with the control group which not given therapy. 38 COPD patients were grouped into intervention groups (n = 18) and control group (n = 18) randomly. The intervention group was given pursed-lip breathing, diaphragmatic breathing, and upper limb stretching for 4 weeks as much as two times for each week, while the control group was not given exercise. The dyspnea scale was measured using the MRC Dyspnea Scale questionnaire and was categorized as mild (scale 1), medium (scale 2-3) and severe (scale 4-5). The result showed there was a difference in dyspnea (p value 0.008) for intervention group and there is no difference in the dyspnea for control group that was not given exercise (p value 0.655). In conclusion, pursed lip breathing, diaphragmatic breathing, and upper limb stretching can give more significant benefits when done sustainably, especially for COPD patients.
