Abstract

The comprehension of overarching principles in texts for elementary and junior high school is deficient. The objective of this study is to create an instructional plan for understanding the notion of square and rectangular regions using GeoGebra as a tool. This study employs a didactical design research methodology with a descriptive-qualitative approach. The didactic design discussed in this study pertains to the acquisition of knowledge regarding square and rectangular regions in junior high school. The study was carried out in a public junior high school located in Sungai Raya Kubu Raya. The data sources consist of primary and secondary data. Primary data is collected firsthand from sources in the field, directly from the research subject. The data is derived from test results and observations of eighth-grade students and mathematics teachers, which serve as the foundation for the development of didactical design. The secondary data consists of a literature review, which is derived from relevant literature sources that provide support or relevance to this publication, such as earlier research. The findings revealed that students had difficulties mostly in identifying flat shapes, calculating the area of squares and rectangles, understanding the correlation between square and rectangular areas, and utilising the notion of square and rectangular areas to solve problems. This learning impediment is surmounted by implementing a didactic design. The resulting didactic design incorporates the utilisation of GeoGebra software to address and overcome students' learning hurdles in the context of square and rectangular materials, with a focus on problem-solving.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to explain the conceptual understanding of students refer to  SOLO taxonomy in the material of exponential function at SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak. The research method used is explorative descriptive method. The subject of the research are 10 students class of X IPA 6 in SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak. Subject taking was done by giving a SOLO taxonomy test first and then each of the 2 subjects selected representing each of the SOLO taxonomy levels was selected. The technique of collection data used are written tests and interviews. The tools of collection data used are test instrument, interview guide, voice recorder, and camera. The result of the data analysis of this research showed that students conceptual understanding of SOLO taxonomy is very low category with a percentage of 54%. The students conceptual understanding of level 0, level 1, and level 2 is very low category with a percentage of 34%, 44%, and 53%. Meanwhile, level 3 is low category with a percentage of 59%. Abstract

AbstractThe aim of this research is to find out the geometrical thinking stage of junior high school students in the material of triangle and quadrilateral based on the field dependent and field independent model of cognitive style. It needs to be clarifed that the main aspect of this research is student’s geometrical thinking stage based on the cognitive style. The research method used is descriptive method in the from of case study research. The subjects of this research are students in the class VII A of SMP Negeri 11 Pontianak. Based on the result, it showed that the students with field dependent model of cognitive style in the class is particulary in stage 1 a.k.a analysis stage. It explained that student’s thinking stage had reached the understanding to the problems corresponding with the properties of geometrical figures. Meanwhile the students with field independent model of cognitive style is particularly in stage 0 a.k.a visualization stage. This showed that in triangle and quadrilateral materials, students can only identifying, denoting, comparing, and operating the geometrical figures.Keywords: Cognitive Style, Thinking Stage.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the students' critical thinking skills in learning mathematics using the CTL approach in SMP Negeri 5 Pontianak. The method used in this research was descriptive. This research was conducted for approximately two months from the pre-test to the post-test. Learning was carried out by the researcher himself. After the treatment was finished, the researcher gave a posttest to measure students' critical thinking skills in mathematics. It also provided a questionnaire for students to know their opinions on the learning conducted and conduct interviews with teachers. The results showed that students can do critical thinking processes in mathematics learning using a CTL approach in SMP Negeri 5 Pontianak. The students ability to think critically before being given learning with the CTL approach was relatively weak, with an average percentage of students on pre-test scores, which was 46% (good enough). The learning process took place systematically and students follow it carefully. The ability to think critically after learning with the CTL approach was in the good category, namely with an average percentage value of 75%. Learning with the CTL approach was considered to be able to improve students' critical thinking skills. This was based on the value of the effect size, which was equal to 0.5877 so that it can be said there is a large influence on learning with the CTL approach to critical thinking skills of students.Keywords : Contextual Teaching and Learning, Critical Thinking Skills, Learning Mathematics, SMP Negeri 5 Pontianak.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of research is to develop learning media with android structured problem posing to improve students’ learning motivation in content of algebra operation in Junior High School. The methodology that use is a research and development. The first phase in this research is self-evaluation, in the next phase is one-to-one pilot which run in parallel with experts review. Then pilot field the last in the small group phase. Qualitative data analisys is used in the beginning phase (one-to-one and experts review), while quantitave data analisys is used in the pilot field (small group). The research results in the form of a set the learning media structured problem posing which is very valid and very feasible to be used based on the result of expert review to improve student's learning motivation. Learning media obtained deliver instructional messages in the form content of Algebra Operation in 7th grade students of Junior High School, has more than one media (multimedia) is audio and visual, load Structured problem posing at problem solving phase in media. it is interactive and independent, and increase motivation learners. Keywords: Development Research, Learning Media, Android, Problem   Posing, Motivation to Learn

Abstract

  Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan potensi metakognisi siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah SPLTV di SMA yang terdiri dari empat tahap penyelesaian Polya: (1) memahami masalah; (2) merencanakan penyelesaian; (3) melaksanakan rencana; (4) memeriksa kembali. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu 9 siswa kelas X C SMA K Abdi Wacana Pontianak. Objek penelitian ini adalah potensi metakognisi siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah SPLTV. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa potensi metakognisi siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah SPLTV tergolong tinggi yaitu 63%. Secara khusus potensi metakognisi siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah SPLTV dibagi dalam empat indikator yaitu: (1) potensi metakognisi siswa pada tahap memahami masalah tergolong tinggi dengan persentase 79%; (2) potensi metakognisi siswa pada tahap merencanakan tergolong tinggi dengan persentase 67%; (3) potensi metakognisi siswa pada tahap melaksanakan rencana tergolong sedang dengan persentase 57%; (4) potensi metakognisi siswa pada tahap memeriksa kembali tergolong sedang dengan persentase 48%.   Kata kunci : Metakognisi, Penyelesaian Masalah, SPLTV Abstract: This research aims to describe student’s metacognition potential in  SPLTV’s problem solving at Senior High School consisted of four Polya’s solved : (1) understanding the problem; (2) devising a plan; (3) carrying out the plan; (4) looking back. Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to determine how to overcome the barriers of learning students in social arithmetic materials using Madura ethnomathematics in grade VIII B Islamic Junior High School Ashabul Kahfi Pontianak. The form of research used in this study is case study research. This study's data source is grade VIII B students of SMP Islam Ashabul Kahfi Pontianak, and the data were the initial and final test answer sheets and the results of interviews.. The results showed that Madurese ethnomathematics could overcome the barriers of student learning. Before using the ethnomathematics Madura tribe, students experienced errors in the concept of summation arranged downwards, errors in the concept of subtraction arranged downwards on numbers that have many zero digits, and errors in the concept of division, and errors calculating values in performing calculated operations. After using the ethnomathematics, the Madura tribe students can already operate using the way of counting done by traders, can already work on the problem of using the way of counting done by traders, and can already work on the problem by obtaining the correct value settlement. Although there is still students who still experience a slight error caused by the student's disability, all students cannot work using the correct steps.Keywords: Ethnomatematics, Learning Obstacles, Madura Tribe, Social Arithmetic

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to describe the mathematical connection ability of students studied from their adaptive reasoning ability in solving cube and block material problems in junior high school. This research was arranged in the form of a case study with the research subjects are 20 students of class IXc SMP Negeri 1 Tebas who have studied cube and block material, while the object in this research were the mathematical connection ability and adaptive reasoning abilities. Data collection in this research was carried out through tests of adaptive reasoning abilities and tests of mathematical connection abilities as well as interviews as a follow-up activity after being given the test. Based on the data analysis conducted, the results showed that students 'mathematical connection abilities tended to be in line with students' adaptive reasoning abilities. Students with high category adaptive reasoning ability tend to have high category mathematical connection ability, which is 75% of them. Students with moderate category addictive reasoning ability tend to have mathematical connection ability which is classified as moderate category, which is 76.92% of them. Meanwhile, students with low category of adaptive reasoning tend to have low mathematical connection ability, which is 67% of them.Keywords: Adaptive Reasoning, Cube and Block, Mathematical Connection

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplanasi perbedaan proses pembelajaran rutin dan dengan pendekatan kinestetik untuk meningkatkan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis anak autis dalam materi sudut dan bangun datar, dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran seperti apa yang baik. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Lembaga Pendidikan Rumah Mtaematika dan Sains Pontianak dengan sampel purposive. Peneliti meneliti satu anak autis dimulai dari tanggal 17 April 2014 sampai dengan 20 November 2014 dengan sistem tatap muka. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen non tes berupa: angket, wawancara, lembar observasi, observasi, dokumentasi, analisis dokumen, diskusi terfokus. Pengembangan instrumen telah terlebih dahulu melalui tahap validasi. Teknik dan prosedur pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Prosedur analisis data menggunakan analisis data penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini tidak bertujuan untuk menguji suatu hipotesis, melainkan bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pembelajaran anak autis dan penalaran serta komunikasi matematisnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis anak autis akan menjadi lebih baik jika dikombinasikan dengan gerakan. Dengan adanya proses pembelajaran dengan pendekatan kinestetik ini, penalaran dan komunikasi matematis anak autis lebih meningkat. Dengan menggunakan gerakan, penalaran mereka lebih baik dan mereka mampu mengkomunikasikan dengan lebih lancar.Kata Kunci: Proses Pembelajaran, Pendekatan Kinestetik, Penalaran Dan Komunikasi Matematis, Anak Autis Abstract: The purpose of this research is to explain the difference between daily learning process and kinesthetic approach to increase the reasoning and mathematical communication of an autistic child in angle material and plane figure, with greatly intention to know what kind of learning process will be better to apply. This research was conducted at Educational Institution of Rumah Matematika and Sains Pontianak which took purposive sample. Researcher investigated one autistic child, started on 17th of April 2014 to 20th of November 2014 by using face-to-face way. The instruments used are non-test instruments in the form of; questionnaire, interview, observation sheets, observation, documentation, document analysis, focused discussion. The development of the instrument had successfully passed the validation stage. Technique and procedure of data collection used qualitative research of data analysis. This research is not intended to test the hypothesis;however, it is to know how the learning process and reasoning of an autistic child as well as his mathematical communication. This research finding showed that the reasoning and mathematical communication of an autistic child will be better if they are integrated with the movement. The reasoning and mathematical communication of an autistic child are significantly increased by applying the learning process with kinesthetic approach. Morever, by using movement, his reasoning is better and he is able to communicate fluently.Keywords: Learning Process, Kinesthetic Approach, Reasoning And Mathematical Communication, An Autistic Child

Abstract

AbstractThis study is entitled "Student Learning Obstacles Based on Analogy Reasoning in Social Arithmetic Material in Junior High Schools". The research method used is descriptive method with the form of case study research. The subjects of this study were students of class VII A Pontianak State Middle School consisting of 32 students. The results showed that student learning barriers based on the analogy reasoning in the social arithmetic material include: (1) Based on the components of thinking Encoding students do not experience obstacles and can identify the characteristics or structure of the problem sources and target problems; (2) Based on the components of Inferring thinking, there are students who experience obstacles in finding relationships in the source problem; (3) Based on the components of Mapping thinking, students experience obstacles in finding relationships or solutions found in the target problem; (4) Based on the components of Applying thinking, students experience obstacles in calculating the target number and choosing the right formula. Keywords: Analogy Reasoning, Learning Obstacles, Social Arithmetic
