Abstract

The existence of traditional musical instruments, especially Betawi, is increasingly disappearing, eroded by modern life and a global lifestyle that is more adopting Western musical instruments with  all its conveniences. One effort that can be done is to develop an application using augmented reality  technology. This research will focus on developing augmented reality applications using a mix approach  approach, which is a merger of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Whereas in the applicationdevelopment process, the method of designing Interactive Multimedia System Design Development  (IMSDD) was developed. This application is evaluated using the System Usability Scale. It can be  concluded that the application is categorized as “Good” with a grade scale “C” and acceptability rangesAbstrakKeberadaan alat musik tradisional khususnya Betawi semakin lama semakin menghilang tergerus kehidupan modern dan gaya hidup global yang lebih banyak mengadopsi alat musik Barat dengan segala kemudahannya. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan mengembangkan sebuah aplikasi menggunakan teknologi augmented reality. Penelitian ini akan berfokus pada pengembangan aplikasi augmented reality menggunakan pendekatan mix approach yaitu penggabungan antara pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Sedangkan dalam proses pengembangan aplikasi menggungkan metode perancangan Interactive Multimedia System Design Development (IMSDD). Aplikasi ini dievaluasi menggunakan System Usability Scale. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa aplikasi tergolong kategori “Good” dengan grade scale “C” dan acceptability ranges termasuk “High”

Abstract

The connotation semiotical study of the Betawi’s gigi balang ornament discusses the meaning of the gigi balang ornament which has begun to be revived by the DKI Jakarta provincial government. The study of meaning is expected to be a guideline that an ornament is not only an art but can affect people’s lives. With the connotative semiotic method, the meaning of gigi balang does not only stop until the connotative meaning but until the mythic meaning which is held firmly by the Betawi people.

Abstract

Abstract This paper is a study of Andreas Gursky’s photo Rhein II. In this study, the post-structural semiotic analysis method is used to interpret meaning based on signs on the Rhein II. The post-structural semiotic analysis becomes the basis for interpreting meanings using related references. In the study of Rhein II photo objects, visual text analysis is expected to provide positive benefits for the development of photography, especially academically. Rhein II is a photo by Andreas Gursky. In Rhein II’s photograph, a contemporary photo is presented as a multi-reality representation analyzed using the post-structural semiotic method. The object of research is interpreted as a text that has a layer of meaning that is squeezed out of its essence by semiotics. The deconstruction of the signification system in the visual element is identified by reading the structural postal semiotic theory codes: text analysis process, creation process. The results of semiotic extraction produce an interpretive study of Rhein II which is full of meaning.Keyword: imagery, photography, semioticaAbstrak Makalah ini merupakan kajian dari foto Rhein II karya Andreas Gursky. Dalam kajian ini digunakan metode analisis semiotika post struktural untuk menginterpretasikan makna berdasarkan tanda-tanda pada Rhein. Analisis semiotika post struktural menjadi landasan dalam menginterpretasikan makna-makna dengan menggunakan referensi terkait. analisis teks visual, dalam kajian objek foto Rhein II diharapkan dapat memberikan kebermanfaatan yang positif bagi perkembangan fotografi khususnya secara akademis. Rhein II adalah foto karya Andreas Gursky. Dalam karya Rhein II, sebuah foto kontemporer dihadirkan sebagai representasi multi realitas yang dianalisis menggunakan metode semiotika post struktural. Objek penelitian dimaknai sebagai teks yang memiliki lapisan makna yang terperas esensinya oleh semiotika. Dekonstruksi sistem penandaan dalam elemen visual diidentifikasikan dengan pembacaan kode-kode teori semiotika pos struktural. Proses analisis teks, proses penciptaan. Hasil ekstraksi semiotika menghasilkan kajian interpretatif Rhein II yang sarat makna.Kata kunci: citra imaji, fotografi, semiotika

Abstract

Abstract A painting is not merely making doodles on canvas, but there are external factors that influence it; social, political, and cultural arts of the community. The visual language created by the painter is a personal symbol, formed by the experience of his creativity. Agus TBR chose horse as one of the visual languages for his paintings to form messages and symbolic meanings. This research was conducted to analyze the development of Agus TBR’s paintings. To understand the meaning in terms of denotation, connotation, myth and ideology as well as to identify the relation of visual signs in Agus TBR’s paintings. The analysis method is carried out using Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach in reading the signs contained in Agus’ painting entitled “Land of Hope”. This research is aimed to arouse artists and researchers ideas in creating paintings which include various visual objects that enriched with symbolic meanings. Keywords: AgusTBR, painting, semiotics, Roland Barthes Abstrak Sebuah lukisan tidak hanya sekedar membuat coretan di atas kanvas, tetapi ada faktor eksternal yang mempengaruhi seperti sosial, politik, dan seni-budaya masyarakat. Bahasa rupa yang dibuat oleh pelukis merupakan simbol-simbol yang bersifat pribadi, yang terbentuk dari pengalaman kreativitasnya. Agus TBR memilih objek kuda sebagai salah satu bahasa rupa untuk karya lukisannya dalam membentuk pesan dan makna simbolik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membaca perkembangan karya seni lukis Agus TBR. Untuk memahami makna dalam tingkatan denotasi, konotasi, mitos dan ideologi serta membaca relasi tanda visual pada lukisan Agus TBR. Metode analisa yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes dalam membaca tanda-tanda yang terdapat pada karya lukisnya yang berjudul “Land of Hope”. Melalui penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya pemahaman dalam memahami pesan yang terdapat pada suatu lukisan. Selain itu juga diharapkan seniman lukis dapat mengembangkan ide dan gagasannya dalam menciptakan suatu karya lukis dengan objek-objek visual yang memiliki makna simbolik. Abstract

AbstractThis study discusses self-efficacy in Generation Z in Surabaya in the perspective of therapeutic photography. Aims to find out the phenomenon of Generation Z decreased self-efficacy in Surabaya and how this problem can be seen through therapeutic photography. The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The results of the study were that the majority of six respondents experienced mild symptoms of depression as well as decreased self-efficacy and therapeutic photography could be a supplement to increase self-efficacy. Further research needs to be done with the design of therapeutic photography to find out more clearly about healing and increasing self-efficacy.Keywords: depression, self efficacy, terapeutik photography   AbstrakPenelitian ini membahas tentang efikasi diri pada generasi Z di Surabaya dalam perspektif fotografi terapeutik. Bertujuan untuk mengetahui fenomena menurunnya efikasi diri pada generasi Z di Surabaya dan bagaimana masalah tersebut dapat dipahami melalui perspektif fotografi terapeutik. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Hasil penelitian adalah dari enam responden mayoritas mengalami gejala depresi ringan (mild) serta penurunan efikasi diri dan fotografi terapeutik dapat menjadi suplemen untuk meningkatkan efikasi diri. Penelitian lebih lanjut perlu dilakukan dengan perancangan fotografi terapeutik untuk mengetahui lebih jelas efek healing dan peningkatan efikasi diri.Kata kunci: depresi, efikasi diri, fotografi terapeutik

Abstract

Abstract As a style that combines masculine and feminine elements in one look, androgyny style has become an important trend in the fashion world since the last few decades. The emergence of people who refuse to be dictated by gender stereotypes, and the dominance of pop culture which has succeeded in mastering human life’s aspects have made androgyny style an important part of the popular culture and fashion trends development globally. This study uncovers the origin of androgyny style, and the role of pop culture related to its development in the fashion world. This research will reveal the journey of androgyny style from its inception and to explore the pop culture’s role in the development of androgyny style. This research is a descriptive qualitative research using netnographic method. It can be concluded that the development of androgyny style is inseparable from the influence of pop culture because it has dominated aspects of human life for the past few decades and the culture’s existence will continue to influence the fashion world in the future.Keywords: fashion, androgyny style, pop culture Abstrak Gaya androgini sebagai gaya berbusana yang memadukan unsur maskulin dan feminin dalam satu tampilan telah menjadi tren penting di dunia fashion sejak beberapa dekade belakangan. Maraknya kemunculan orang-orang yang menolak untuk didikte oleh stereotip gender, serta dominasi pop culture yang berhasil menguasai aspek-aspek kehidupan manusia menjadikan gaya androgini sebagai bagian penting dalam perkembangan budaya populer serta tren fashion secara global. Penelitian ini mengungkap asal muasal kemunculan gaya androgini, dan peran pop culture terkait dengan perkembangan gaya androgini di dunia fashion. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap perjalanan gaya androgini dari awal kemunculannya dan mengeksplorasi peran pop culture dalam perkembangan gaya androgini di dunia fashion. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode netnografi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perkembangan gaya androgini tidak terlepas dari pengaruh pop culture karena budaya tersebut telah mendominasi aspek kehidupan manusia sejak beberapa dekade belakangan dan keberadaan pop culture akan terus mempengaruhi dunia fashion di masa depan. Abstract

AbstractMotorcycles with retrospective style in the contemporary era have become popular in urban communities, especially in Jakarta. This is marked by the many emerging and individual communities of retro motorcycle enthusiasts of various types and becoming a trend among them. The author uses a cultural studies approach and an interdisciplinary approach to analyze this phenomenon. Retrospective style motorcycle design concept seeks to re-present the forms of the past. Redesigning the motorcycle by displaying hybridity, namely embedding several cultural elements in different eras into a new whole. Elements on retro motorbikes contain semiotic signs so that their iconic, symbolic and indexity meanings can be known. Based on interviews with informants, factors such as attachment to the past (nostalgia), interest in certain retro types of motorbikes, lifestyle and hobbies are the reasons for retrospective motorbikes to become popular, especially in urban Jakarta communities.Keywords: retrospective style, semiotics, popular culture. AbstrakMotor dengan gaya retrospektif di era kontemporer menjadi populer di tengah masyarakat urban khususnya di Jakarta. Hal ini ditandai dengan banyak bermunculan komunitas maupun individu penggemar motor retro dari berbagai tipe dan menjadi tren di kalangan mereka. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan cultural studies dan metode interdisciplinary approach untuk menganalisa fenomena tersebut. Konsep desain motor gaya retrospektif berusaha menampilkan kembali bentuk-bentuk masa lalu. Mendesain ulang motor dengan menampilkan hibriditas yaitu menyematkan beberapa unsur budaya pada era yang berbeda menjadi satu kesatuan yang baru. Elemen-elemen pada motor retro mengandung tanda semiotika sehingga dapat di ketahui makna ikonik, simbolis dan indeksitasnya. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan narasumber, faktor-faktor seperti keterikatan dengan masa lalu (nostalgia), ketertarikan terhadap motor retro tipe tertentu, lifestyle dan hobi menjadi penyebab motor retrospektif menjadi populer khususnya di masyarakat urban Jakarta.Kata kunci: gaya retrospektif, semiotika, budaya populer.

Abstract

This paper depicts the work of three women designers in the informal sector of the creativeindustry in Indonesia. The unique works of women designers in designing and building brands oflocal-domestic products, fashion, decorations, and, accessories produced in home-based studioshave made them financially self-sustaining. In addition, this research also shows that the ability ofwomen designers to negotiate in society which still burdens women with domestic activities can beself-supported and develop their businesses. Furthermore, the factors that influence the success ofbusiness sustainability include: 'personal style' design, ability to understand the market,proficiency in computer technology, and the utilization of communication media such as socialmedia and websites. This independent women designer figure in the informal sector indirectlycontributes to economic prosperity in Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to explore the visualization of damar kurung's painting with Nyonya Muluk theme and its meaning in the context of Javanese culture critically. It was stated that the figure of Nyonya Muluk was inspired by Masmundari's experience of meeting the Queen of the Netherlands who had visited Surabaya. Nyonya Muluk is described as a large woman who wears a dress and jewelery and has a pair of wings. Around her are other human figures painted in smaller sizes. To pursue the aim this study, the analysis was conducted using Gillian Rose's visual methodology which takes the position of the site of self. The analysis of this study found how Masmundari depicts objects by combining opposing cultural elements reflecting that the postcolonial subject is never completely the position of the colonized or the colonizing self. The ambivalence that arises in the practice of mutual views shows a form of negotiation or resistance from the colonized position. Masmundari's remitology also depicts the Indonesian nation as a colonized party trying to decolonize itself from colonial rule. By relocating the mythology of Nyonya Muluk in a contemporary context, this painting shows the efforts of the Indonesian people to regain 'independence' by using local traditions to fight against the culture imposed by the colonialists. In short, it can be concluded that the remitology of Nyonya Muluk in amar kurung's painting not only reflects Masmundari's resistance to Western colonial and post-colonial rule, but also represents Masmundari's resilience to the definition of her identity as Javanese.
