Abstract

Vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals and are generally widely consumed by the public. One popular type of vegetable is lettuce because of its attractive texture and color. The cleanliness of vegetables is very important to prevent diseases caused by food contaminated with pathogenic bacteria. In this study, the number of bacteria on lettuce leaves in three different markets in Padang city was tested. The method used was the laboratory observation method by diluting with 3 repetitions. The results showed that the number of bacterial colonies on lettuce in Pasar Raya was 93 colonies, in Pasar Gaung was 61 colonies, and in Pasar Pagi Lolong was 69 colonies. The placement of vegetables in Gaung Market which has a special row for vegetables can maintain the cleanliness of vegetables, while in Raya Market and Lolong Market there is no special placement for vegetables so that vegetables are vulnerable to contamination with other materials. Bacterial contamination of vegetables can come from various factors such as the planting process, spraying organic fertilizer, harvesting, and washing. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to hygiene and sanitation in processing and selling vegetables to prevent bacterial contamination.

Abstract

Ecoenzyme is a fermented liquid product containing lactic acid bacteria in fruits and vegetables. Nutrients derived from ecoenzymes such as nitrogen are used for growth. This study evaluated the effect of ecoenzyme administration on the number of Trichoderma asperellum spores in brown glutinous rice medium. Trichoderma asperellum is known as a beneficial fungus in the decomposition of solid waste and the enhancement of plant growth. The use of medium made from brown glutinous rice was tested as an alternative to Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA), with the addition of ecoenzyme as an additional nutrient. This study used a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with six treatments and five repeats. The treatment given is the addition of ecoenzyme concentrations of 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. Data was analyzed using fingerprints and follow-up tests with DNMRT at an error rate of 5%. Observation of the number of spores is carried out at the age of 60 days by dilution and hemasitometer. The results showed that the 60% ecoenzyme concentration had the highest average spore count and was different from the 0% control. In contrast, the 20% concentration had the lowest average and was the same as the controls. Giving ecoenzyme to brown glutinous rice medium can increase the number of Trichoderma asperellum spores.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze dextran-producing bacteria, especially from the general Leuconostoc, Weissella, and Lactobacillus, which produce the enzyme dextransucrase for dextran synthesis. This research uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method based on the PRISMA protocol, with data sources from various trusted scientific databases for the 2020–2024 period. The results of the study show that variations in dextran structure, such as molecular weight and degree of branching, are highly dependent on the bacterial strain and fermentation conditions. Optimization of production parameters, including pH, temperature and substrate concentration, can increase dextran production efficiency The conclusions of this study emphasize the need for a multidisciplinary approach to optimize the potential of dextran in industrial and biotechnology applications. Further research is recommended to explore new strains, optimize production processes, and diversify dextran applications.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract – SD Negeri 12 Padang Panjang is one of the schools that has made efforts to implement the Adiwiyata program. In 2024, the school represented the city of Padang Panjang in the Adiwiyata competition at the West Sumatra provincial level; however, it did not achieve optimal results. For the 2025 Adiwiyata program, SD Negeri 12 has set a target to become the provincial representative of West Sumatra. Based on the evaluation results from 2024, it was found that the assessment indicator for Participatory-Based Environmental Activities needs improvement. One activity that can support this effort is hydroponic cultivation. A hydroponic cultivation training was conducted by 26 fifth-grade students. The training included both theoretical material and hands-on practice in cultivating green vegetables using a hydroponic system. The training was guided by two experts who are competent in the field. This training successfully increased students' knowledge of hydroponic vegetable cultivation. Moreover, over 90% of the participants demonstrated teamwork and developed a greater awareness of environmental care. This outcome is a significant contribution to supporting SD Negeri 12 Padang Panjang Barat’s efforts toward achieving Adiwiyata School status.

Abstract

Phosphate is a vital nutrient required for plants, yet its presence in the soil is frequently limited due to being held by specific ions. Microorganisms that solubilize phosphate, particularly fluorescent Pseudomonas, are considered among the most efficient agents for phosphate solubilization. This research intends to assess the capacity of six fluorescent Pseudomonas isolates derived from the rhizosphere of different plants to solubilize phosphate, and to analyze their IKF values. The research was carried out descriptively from June to August 2025 at the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Padang State University. Observations were conducted by noticing the development of clear zones and determining the IKF values. The findings indicated that every isolate, specifically PfPj1, PfS36, PfLAHP2, PfCas, PfS31, and PfKd7, was capable of solubilizing phosphate. The highest IKF value was found in isolate PfKd7 (4.91), whereas the lowest was recorded for PfS36 (4.08). Variations in IKF values indicate differences in the capacity of each isolate to release organic acids, which are involved in the phosphate solubilization process. This discovery reinforces the capability of fluorescent Pseudomonas as an eco-friendly biological agent to enhance phosphorus availability.
