Abstract

Mental health is a crucial aspect of an individual's overall well-being. Untreated mental health conditions, particularly unresolved past trauma or issues related to the "inner child," can significantly influence a person's current behavior and attitudes. The inner child refers to the part of the self that retains emotional experiences from childhood, including unfulfilled joys and unmet needs, which continue to impact adult life. Contributing factors to the development of the inner child include family environment, parent-child relationships, and early emotional experiences. A wounded inner child may manifest through symptoms such as frustration, exaggerated emotional reactions, childish outbursts, difficulty in expressing emotions, low self-esteem, immaturity, and fear of abandonment. This community service activity aimed to provide training for mothers experiencing high levels of negative inner child symptoms through the implementation of Butterfly Hug Therapy. Participants were selected based on their elevated negative inner child scores. The training involved both theoretical sessions and practical exercises in Butterfly Hug Therapy, which consists of crossing the arms over the chest and gently tapping the shoulders alternately. This self-soothing technique helps individuals achieve a sense of safety, allowing them to process emotional experiences effectively. Previous studies have demonstrated that Butterfly Hug Therapy can reduce anxiety levels across age groups, enhance self-awareness, and strengthen emotional regulation. The results of this program indicated a significant reduction in negative inner child symptoms among the participating mothers. These findings suggest that Butterfly Hug Therapy is an effective, non-pharmacological intervention for addressing unresolved childhood emotional issues. The therapy promotes emotional regulation and cognitive processing by stimulating brain regions associated with perception, evaluation, and emotional control, ultimately reducing psychological stress.

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to determine the effectiveness of individual counseling services using the Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach through self-instruction techniques in reducing learning difficulties at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Medan. Quantitative research is guided by a pre-test plan and a single-group pre-test-post-test plan. On the analyst's learning difficulties scale, 26 of the 28 statement items are used in a test of legitimacy and firm quality. The results are considered substantial if the determined r exceeds the table r value, namely 0.2329 at a 5% level of significance. For the reliability test, Cronbroach alpha data was collected with a Cronbroach Alpha value greater than 0.05 (0.999 0.05). The research population at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Medan includes more than three classes in class X (ten), namely classes X5, X7, and X8. Purposive testing techniques were used to select five students with high levels of learning difficulties from 110 students in each of the three classes. The Wilcoxon Marked Positions Test was used to test the data. The results of this research show that the significance value is asymptotic. Sig(2-follow) values greater than 0.05 or 0.005 It is reasonable to assume that independent, individual tutoring services are effective in overcoming student learning difficulties.

Abstract

School as an educational institution and a means to achieve educational goals. Within the school environment, students are required to adhere to the rules and regulations. The purpose of this research is to determine the individual counseling services in the problem check list and anecdotal records at SMK Mandiri Tembung. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects are the counseling teacher and students in the X class of Light Vehicle Engineering. The results of this study show that the implementation of individual counseling services in the problem check list and anecdotal records at SMK Mandiri Tembung indicates that the counseling teacher has provided individual counseling services to students with individual problems.

Abstract

Group guidance and counseling is one of the important services in schools. However, at SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate, the implementation of group guidance and counseling has encountered several obstacles. The aim of this study is to identify and analyze inhibiting factors that affect the implementation of group guidance and counseling at SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews and observations. The results of the study show that there are several inhibiting factors that affect the implementation of group guidance and counseling at SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate, including lack of support from the school, lack of knowledge and skills of the BK teacher, as well as lack of participation and motivation of students.

Abstract

This study aims to find out whether the use of mobile phones can disrupt students' learning activities and to determine the handling usually given by guidance and counseling teachers. The research method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative research method using data collection techniques, namely interviews and observations. The research subjects in this study are guidance and counseling teachers at MAN 2 Medan and 21 students at MAN 2 Medan. The results show that the use of mobile phones can disrupt students' learning activities but on the other hand, the teaching and learning process at MAN 2 Model is also somewhat assisted by technology in the form of mobile phones, such as providing materials, google forms, and instructional videos in certain subjects. The handling provided by guidance and counseling teachers is to provide information services for mild cases and for severe cases, guidance and counseling teachers will call the parents of the students.

Abstract

Cyber counseling media can be an effective tool in improving the quality of counseling services at MAN 3 Langkat School. This media can help students who are difficult to reach directly to get counseling, provide easy access, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services, expand the reach of services, and increase security. However, in using cyber counseling media, it is necessary to pay attention to several things such as student data privacy and security, technology security, and applicable regulations. The school must ensure that cyber counseling services are carried out in compliance with professional ethics and applicable laws in Indonesia. In this case, cyber counseling media can help improve the quality of counseling services at MAN 3 Langkat School.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of parental divorce on children's social relationships and selfish attitudes. Parental divorce is a complex event that can have long-term consequences for children's development. This study uses a qualitative approach in collecting data from children who have experienced their parents' divorce. The results of this study are expected to provide a better understanding of the social and psychological impact of parental divorce on children.

Abstract

The spirit of learning for students is very important to support their academic and non-academic achievements. Student failures are a concern for researchers to see the background that is the source of learning spirit. Based on the research results, many cases make students lose interest in learning because there is no learning spirit from within the students themselves. This study will examine the factors that hinder and support student learning spirit at SMK Mandiri Medan. The method used in this research is qualitative method, with researchers conducting direct observations and interviews with several students as samples. The results of the study show that supporting factors for student learning spirit include high motivation, enthusiasm, sense of achievement, and desire for development. Meanwhile, the obstacles to student learning spirit in class XII of SMK Mandiri Medan include an uncondusive learning environment, lack of support for students, pressure, and excessive demands.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to get an overview of the personal and social guidance program in improving students' social adjustment in the school environment. The researcher used a qualitative method to understand the overview of the guidance program. The data collection technique used was interviews. The interview subject was the Guidance Counselor from MA Mualimin UNIVA, Medan City. The results show that the methods used in personal and social guidance to improve students' social adjustment are group and individual guidance. The materials used in the guidance program include effective communication skills, emotional management abilities, building self-confidence, coping with stress, and understanding the importance of maintaining mental and physical health. However, the researcher also found obstacles in the implementation of the personal and social guidance program, such as lack of support from students' parents, time constraints, and resources. Therefore, research on efforts to improve students' social adjustment is very important. Some previous studies have shown that group guidance programs can help students improve their social adjustment. Through effective personal and social guidance programs, students can learn to recognize and address personal or social problems that affect their ability to adapt to their environment.
