Abstract

This study aims to identify the relevance of ethnoscience in the traditional spinning top game in East Lombok to science learning materials, especially the concept of force and motion. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and literature studies. Observations were conducted in Masbagik Village, East Lombok, involving spinning top players, spinning top makers, traditional leaders, and science teachers. The results of the study indicate that the spinning top game contains scientific principles such as torque, moment of inertia, center of mass, rotational energy, and mechanical properties of materials that are in accordance with science materials in junior high schools. In addition, this game also teaches character values ​​such as discipline, responsibility, and cooperation. Thus, the spinning top game has great potential to be integrated into ethnoscience-based science learning as an effort to preserve culture while increasing understanding of science concepts contextually.

Abstract

Kemandirian belajar peserta didik perlu ditingkatkan karena menjadi aspek penting dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas modul ajar kimia berbasis etnosains dalam meningkatkan kemandirian belajar peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu dengan desain one-group pretest–posttest. Populasi pada penelitian ini yaitu seluruh peserta didik kelas X SMAN 3 Mataram yang berjumlah 360 peserta didik. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas X SMAN 3 Mataram yang dipilih dari 360 peserta didik menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket berisi 20 pernyataan berdasarkan indikator kemandirian belajar, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji N-gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata pretest sebesar 34,25% dan posttest 32,88% dengan kategori cukup baik. Uji N-gain menunjukkan 35 peserta didik mengalami peningkatan rendah, 27 sedang, dan 11 tinggi. Berdasarkan indikator, dua indikator mengalami peningkatan tinggi dan empat indikator peningkatan sedang. Secara keseluruhan, modul berbasis etnosains pada materi struktur atom dan sistem periodik mampu meningkatkan kemandirian belajar pada kategori sedang.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the effect of media-assisted problem-based learning using ChemCollective on buffer solution material on the critical thinking skills of 11th grade students at SMAN 1 Narmada. This quasi-experimental study used a nonequivalent control group design and was conducted in classes XI F5 and XI F6 with a total of 72 students. Cluster sampling was used as the sampling technique. The determination of the experimental class and control class was based on the lower average pretest score as the experimental class and the higher score as the control class. The pretest results obtained in class XI F5 were 53.44 and class XI F6 were 59.69, so class XI F5 was the experimental class and class XI F6 was the control class. The data collection technique used a two-tier multiple-choice test instrument. The results showed that the average N-Gain score was 0.6 in the experimental class and 0.34 in the control class, both of which were in the moderate category. The t-test result obtained was tcount (4.25) > ttable (1.994), so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that the use of media-assisted problem-based learning chemcollective on buffer solution material had an effect on improving the critical thinking skills of grade XI students at SMAN 1 Narmada.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze learning autonomy in chemistry among senior high school students in Mataram City, based on gender, using a descriptive-quantitative approach. This quantitative descriptive research employed a survey method utilizing a four-point Likert scale questionnaire consisting of 20 statements measuring six indicators: (1) learning initiated independently, (2) independence from others, (3) having a learning plan, (4) disciplined behavior, (5) active participation during learning activities, and (6) the desire to progress. The results of the independent samples t-test (p-value = 0.021 < 0.05) indicate a significant difference in self-regulated learning in chemistry between male and female students. The mean difference score of –2.54 shows that female students have higher learning autonomy in chemistry than male students. Particularly in the indicators of active participation during the learning process, the desire to improve, learning initiative, learning planning, and disciplined behavior. Despite the differences, both male and female senior high school students in Mataram City demonstrate good levels of learning autonomy in chemistry.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the chemical knowledge (ethno-chemistry) of traditional food of the Sumbawa community, namely sepat. The research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach, using key informants as sources of information. The key informants are customary leaders or members of the Sumbawa community who have in-depth knowledge about the traditional food sepat. Information was obtained through observation and interviews using validated instruments. The data were analyzed descriptively using the Miles–Huberman method, which includes the stages of data collection, data reduction, presentation, data verification, and conclusion. The identification results found that in traditional sepat food, there is a connection with chemistry concepts, including: food chemistry, proteins, chemical reactions, acids and bases, energetics, systems and environment, solutions and mixtures. It is hoped that these findings can help teachers, students, and education observers in developing teaching materials or learning resources based on local culture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kelayakan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan e-modul kimia terintegrasi ekowisata gerabah Banyumulek melalui model pembelajaran etnopedagogi dalam melatih kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Subjek penelitian meliputi 34 siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 3 Mataram pada uji coba terbatas dan 51 siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 2 Mataram pada uji coba skala luas. Metode penelitian menggunakan Research and Development (R&D) dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Instrumen pengumpulan data terdiri atas lembar validasi ahli, angket kemandirian belajar, angket respons guru dan peserta didik, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, serta tes berpikir kritis dengan format pretest–posttest. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa e-modul memiliki tingkat validitas sangat baik (0,97) dan reliabilitas baik (0,81). Uji coba menunjukkan bahwa e-modul praktis digunakan dengan skor respons siswa sebesar 3,91. Analisis N-Gain menunjukkan peningkatan kemandirian belajar sebesar 63,65% dan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis sebesar 72%. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi ekowisata dalam e-modul kimia tidak hanya memperkuat pemahaman konsep termokimia, tetapi juga mengembangkan kesadaran budaya lokal serta mendorong pembelajaran kontekstual yang lebih bermakna. Secara praktis, penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan perangkat ajar berbasis kearifan lokal yang dapat menjadi alternatif inovatif dalam pembelajaran kimia di era Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Sembalun Bumbung Village faces significant challenges in maintaining a stable food supply and achieving economic resilience due to its location in a disaster-prone area. The region is at risk, making it dangerous to clear new land for agricultural cultivation. To address these issues, the Sembalun Mushroom Initiative aims to enhance food security and disaster resilience in the village by improving the quality of mushroom products and providing support in business management. The cultivation of straw mushrooms presents an alternative agricultural development that can support food security and boost the local economy. The advantages of straw mushroom cultivation include the fact that it does not require clearing new land or forests, and it typically yields good market prices. However, farmers in Sembalun Bumbung Village currently lack the knowledge and technology necessary to produce high-quality straw mushrooms and manage their businesses effectively. To help overcome these challenges, a community service team from the University of Mataram is assisting with advanced cultivation technology and business management practices. Their efforts include developing training programs that cover business management, marketing strategies, and resource management.

Abstract

The role of local wisdom in building cultural and national identity has veryimportant relevance in a society. By studying ethnoscience, we canunderstand different cultural ways of thinking and perspectives in explainingscientific phenomena. One of the local wisdoms in West Nusa Tenggara isthe traditional house of Beleq Village. This traditional house has a roofmade of reeds and poles and walls made of bamboo. The use of naturalmaterials as building materials by the Sembalun community has its ownphilosophy and reasons. The aim of this research is to obtain more detailedinformation regarding the relevance of public knowledge and scientificknowledge regarding the use of reeds and bamboo as building materials fortraditional houses in Beleq Village. The method used is a qualitativemethod. The results of this research show that use of reeds as a roof is abletoreverse the temperature. This is in line with sacientific knowledgeregarding the ability of alang-alang as an insulator in the thermal insulationprocess. Apart from that, the use of bamboo as poles, walls and roof trussesfor traditional houses has the ability to provide the strongest support and atthat time bamboo was easy to find. This is in line with scientific knowledgeregarding bamboo's ability to be a sustainable plant and become stronger ifdried. So, it can be concluded that there is relevance between publicknowledge an scientific science.

Abstract

Obat tradisional merupakan ramuan atau bahan-bahan yang berupa bahan hewan, bahan tumbuhan dan bahan mineral yang secara turun temurun dimanfaatkan untuk pengobatan berdasarkan pengalaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan unruk mengidentifikasi pengetahuan sains masyarakat relevansi dengan sians ilmiah pada minyak obat khas desa Semalun. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekata kualitatif berfokus pada pengetahuan masyarakat (etnosains) tentang obat tradisional minyak khas sembalun, pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen teks wawancara dan dokumentasi, alat yang digunakan dalam peneltian ini adalah peneliti itu sendiri dan dibantu dengan instrumen wawancara, dimana sumber data diperoleh dari hasil wawancara dengan narasumber yaitu Papuk Rismi sekalu tabib dari desa Sembalun. Tanaman obat yang digunakan dari segi pengetahuan sains masyarakat cukup relevan dengan sains ilmiah dimana hal tersebut dibuktikan dari hasil wawancara dengan masyarakat di desa Sembalun terkait khasiat tanaman obat dengan literatur ilmiah pengetahuan sains masyarat tentang khasiat tanaman obat.

Abstract

Anorganik yang sudah dicampurkan dengan tanah memberi dampak terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman strawberry dan hasil produksinya. Secara ilmiah, kesuburan tanah dapat dilihat dari kandungan ion hidrogennya atau tingkat keasaman tanah (pH). pH sangat mempengaruhi unsur hara yang diperlukan bagi tanaman strawberry Adanya relevansi sains masyarakat dengan sains ilmiah tersebut maka perlu dilakukan kajian tentang pengaruh pH tanah terhadap hasil panen strawberry. Pengumpulan data primer dilakukan melalui observasi secara langsung dan wawancara guru sekaligus penggiat tanaman strawberry di SMPN 2 Sembalun serta data sekunder melalui kajian pustaka yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan sains masyarakat yang berkembang dengan sains ilmiah tentang metode pemberian pupuk pada strawberry (Fragaria sp.). Strawberry adalah tanaman subtropis yang dapat beradaptasi baik di dataran tinggi tropis dengan temperatur 17-20°C dan disertai curah hujan 600-700 mm/tahun, berada di tanah lempung berpasir dengan pH 5,8-6,5 dan kondisi drainase yang baik. Unsur hara esensial yang dibutuhkan tanaman strawberry adalah unsur makro dan mikro terutama unsur N, P, dan K.
