Abstract

This study aims to detect changes in mangrove cover using 30-meter resolution Landsat imagery in 2019 and 2021 and analysis of changes in density to macrozoobenthos abundance. The research method used is the analysis of satellite imagery with NDVI transformation integrated with field surveys, the relationship between mangrove density and abundance of macrozoobenthos was tested by regression analysis. The results showed that in 1 decade (2009-2021) there was an improvement in the quality of the mangrove ecosystem with an increase in the cover of the mangrove ecosystem by 5.49 Ha, which was accompanied by an increase in mangrove density. Improvement of ecosystem conditions also affects the increase in the abundance of macrozoobenthos in substrates, roots, and stems in mangrove ecosystems even though with a small coefficient of determination.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the power struggle in George Orwell's novel Animal Farm. The author describes the novel Animal Farm using the historical hermeneutic approach of Wilhelm Dilthey and Roland Barthes' semiotic interpretive method. Research data comes from conflicts between animals and humans and between animals on farms. The data analyzed was taken from reading the novel Animal Farm repeatedly and understanding every element in the story. The author then divides the power struggle based on the tyranny that carries out slavery on the farms. Among them is the propaganda by pigs to rebel against all animals against humans. Animal propaganda is not to imitate and torment humans—and pig animal propaganda is to control the farm personally. The results showed that the power struggle in the form of propaganda and violence was influenced by the difference in ideology to exercise power on the farm. And the conclusion of this study is that George Orwell, through his work, is conducting propaganda and criticizing the ideology of power.

Abstract

The increasing volume of hazardous and toxic waste (B3), particularly from used cooking oil, poses significant environmental and health challenges. One promising solution is converting this waste into biodiesel, thereby promoting renewable energy development while reducing ecological risks. This study investigates the yield percentage of biodiesel produced from waste cooking oil using a magnetic stirrer. The research aims to determine the optimal stirring duration to maximize yield and evaluate the flame duration of the resulting biodiesel. The process involved tool and material preparation, biodiesel production via transesterification, and subsequent data collection and analysis. The findings revealed that the highest biodiesel yield, 58.4%, was achieved at a stirring duration of 45 minutes, whereas the lowest yield, 51.2%, occurred at 60 minutes.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal how the values of local wisdom, especially in the context of religious harmony, contribute to the economic improvement of the resin plantation community in Pakel Village, Gucialit District, Lumajang Regency. Through a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study found that the harmony between religious communities in the village has given birth to a strong practice of mutual cooperation, which is reflected in the joint management of resin plantations. A work ethic that upholds justice and equality regardless of religious background has encouraged increased productivity and income of the community, especially for resin seekers. These findings show that local wisdom has great potential to become social capital in the economic development of natural resource-based communities

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of leadership styles of MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) owners on business economic performance in the digital era, with a focus on MSME actors in Banyuwangi Regency. The background of this research is based on the importance of adaptive leadership in managing small and medium enterprises affected by technological changes and digital consumption patterns. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods including literature review, direct observation, and in-depth interviews with ten MSME owners actively using digital platforms. The findings reveal that transformational leadership style significantly contributes to business economic growth through motivation, innovation, and technology adoption. Meanwhile, democratic leadership style encourages employee involvement and operational efficiency through participative decision-making and a collaborative work culture. In contrast, authoritarian leadership style hinders the digital adaptation process and negatively impacts business performance. In conclusion, open, participative, and transformative leadership styles are key to the success of MSMEs in facing the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy. These findings reinforce previous research emphasizing the vital role of leadership in the sustainability and competitiveness of small businesses in the digital transformation era.

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive, simulation-based validation of a Luenberger Observer (LO) specifically designed for fault detection in storage tank systems. It commences with the development of a nonlinear storage tank model, which is subsequently linearized to streamline the observer design process. The LO estimates critical system states and produces residual signals that enable reliable fault detection. The observer gain is meticulously chosen using pole placement techniques to ensure rapid convergence of estimates and overall stability. To evaluate the effectiveness of this approach, three distinct fault scenarios—ramp, square pulse, and inverted ramp signals—are introduced to simulate various types of abnormal conditions that could occur in real-world operations. Simulation results demonstrate that the LO accurately estimates the liquid level states with a mean absolute error of approximately 0.02 meters, equivalent to about 2.6%. Furthermore, the observer detects faults with an average delay between 5 and 9 seconds following fault injection, indicating its prompt response capability. Notably, even with sensor noise levels reaching 6%, the observer maintains stable tracking performance, demonstrating strong robustness against disturbances. Across all tested scenarios, the residual signals show rapid increases during fault conditions and swiftly return near zero once the system reverts to normal operation, with no false alarms observed. Collectively, these results suggest that the Luenberger Observer provides an accurate, rapid, and disturbance-tolerant method for fault detection in storage tank systems. Such an approach offers a practical alternative to data-driven fault detection methodologies, as it relies less on extensive training datasets and can be more readily implemented for real-time industrial monitoring applications.
