Abstract

This research aims to present the results of the analysis of the implementation of the Project for Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students (P5) for class IV elementary school as evaluation material for the creation of an even better program. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis stage includes data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The research results show that the school has implemented P5 in class IV based on local wisdom of traditional games, which is an ancestral heritage that must be protected and preserved. Research findings at the stages in designing P5 include the preparation stage including forming a team of facilitators but they don't yet have a decree, there is only a coordinator, then identifying school readiness, determining dimensions, themes and time allocation, preparing strategies and project modules, but teachers sometimes haven't prepared project modules. , and develop a strategy for reporting project results. Then the implementation stage includes introduction, contextualization and P5 action. The evaluation stage includes reporting results, evaluating implementation achievements and program sustainability. It can be concluded that the implementation of P5 local wisdom of traditional games is carried out in the developing stage, integrating local wisdom, and involving parents and the community as P5 partners in order to develop students' character in accordance with the noble values of Pancasila.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) of elementary school students through the End-of-Year Summative Assessment (ASAT) in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject at SD Muhammadiyah Kutoarjo. The research approach employed a quantitative descriptive method with item analysis based on the Rasch model. The research subjects consisted of 64 fifth-grade students and 25 ASAT items from the 2023/2024 academic year. Data were analyzed based on difficulty level, discriminative power, and the distribution of thinking categories (LOTS and HOTS) in accordance with the revised Bloom’s taxonomy (Anderson & Krathwohl, 2016). The results indicated that 68% of the items fell into the lower-order thinking skills (LOTS) category, while 32% were classified as HOTS. Rasch analysis revealed an imbalance between students’ ability levels and item difficulty parameters (item–person map). These findings indicate the need for improved teacher assessment literacy in developing questions that better stimulate analytical, evaluative, and creative skills. The implications of this study contribute to the development of authentic assessment models in elementary schools in line with the spirit the Merdeka Curriculum, by integrating the principles of inquiry-based learning and transformative assessment to optimize the achievement of sustainable scientific thinking competencies.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study develops and validates the Five Senses Windmill, an innovative edutainment-based learning media integrating local wisdom, designed to enhance conceptual understanding and active engagement among students with intellectual disabilities in Special Needs Schools. Methodology: Employing Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, this study systematically developed the media through five phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Media and content validity were assessed using Aiken's V (≥0.80), with instrument reliability reaching 0.87 (Cronbach's Alpha). Three fourth-grade students with mild intellectual disabilities participated in purposive sampling trials. Data collection involved expert validation, pre-post testing, structured observations, and teacher interviews. Quantitative analysis measured validity and effectiveness through N-gain calculations, while qualitative analysis explored learning dynamics and engagement patterns. Main Findings: The Five Senses Windmill demonstrated high validity (Aiken's V = 0.91) and proved effective in improving students' conceptual understanding with moderate-to-high effectiveness (N-Gain = 64.5%). Students showed significant improvement in identifying sensory functions, increased from passive dependency to active participation, and demonstrated enhanced confidence in applying concepts to daily life. The bamboo-based media successfully integrated visual, kinesthetic, and cultural elements, creating meaningful learning experiences. Positive teacher responses confirmed the media's practicality and ease of implementation. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study uniquely combines edutainment pedagogy with Indonesian local wisdom through sustainable bamboo materials, addressing the gap in holistic, multisensory, culturally-responsive learning media for students with intellectual disabilities. The windmill's interactive design simultaneously develops cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains while fostering cultural identity and environmental awareness.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the important skills that need to be developed in 21st century learning. In the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject, critical thinking skills are needed to solve problems that require Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). However, assessments in elementary schools are still dominated by questions oriented to Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), so students' critical thinking skills have not been optimally measured. This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills in solving the Year-End Summative Assessment (ASAT) questions for science subjects grade IV Private Elementary School in Kutoarjo. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach involving 24 students in grade IV, while five students were selected purposively as the main subjects of the study. Data was collected through documentation, observation, and interviews, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman models. The results showed that of the 30 ASAT questions analyzed, as many as 18 questions (60%) were included in the LOTS category and 12 questions (40%) were included in the HOTS category. Students' critical thinking skills are divided into the categories of Developing Very Good (20%), Developing as Expected (40%), and Starting to Develop (40%) based on the achievement of Ennis' critical thinking indicators, namely focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview. Students in the Very Well Developed category were able to meet most of the critical thinking indicators and showed better ability to solve HOTS questions, while students in the Developing Beginning category still had difficulty in giving reasons, drawing conclusions, and evaluating answers. The findings of the study show that the better the students' critical thinking skills, the better their ability to solve HOTS problems in science subjects.
