Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Learning Cycle 5E model assisted by PhET simulations in improving students’ critical thinking skills and science literacy on the topic of sound waves. A quasi-experimental design was used with three classes: an experimental class (Learning Cycle 5E + PhET), control class 1 (Learning Cycle 5E only), and control class 2 (direct instruction). Classes were randomly selected from grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Piyungan. Instruments consisted of a critical thinking essay test and a science literacy multiple-choice test, each covering four indicators and validated using Quest. PhET simulations (“Sound” and “Wave on a String”) were integrated from the exploration to evaluation phases. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed significant differences between groups (p = 0.001). The experimental class achieved the highest posttest scores: 90.68 (SD = ±4.8) in critical thinking and 68.92 (SD = ±6.2) in science literacy. The most significant improvements occurred in evaluating arguments and understanding science concepts. These results suggest that integrating PhET simulations into the Learning Cycle 5E model effectively enhances students’ conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and science literacy. This approach can be recommended as an alternative learning strategy in physics education, particularly for abstract and complex topics.

Abstract

This study aims to develop AI-based learning media integrated with Yogyakarta's local wisdom, particularly gudeg, in physics education. The research aims to facilitate 21st-century skills and students’ physics identity in the 5.0 era through socially and culturally relevant media. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D model, including define, design, and development stages. Observations and interviews were conducted at two high schools in Yogyakarta to identify learning needs. We developed three AI-based learning products: an e-book, an e-module, and an e-worksheet. Expert feasibility assessment showed very feasible results, with the e-book achieving the highest score (2.15), followed by the e-worksheet (2.05) and e-module (2.00). The use of these media increased students' interest, understanding, and skills in critical thinking, creativity, and physics identity. Integrating technology and local wisdom in physics learning media also positively contributes to education quality and supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh konsentrasi zat terlarut terhadap titik didih larutan melalui pendekatan eksperimen termodinamika. Air digunakan sebagai pelarut, sedangkan natrium klorida (NaCl) dan sukrosa (C₁₂H₂₂O₁₁) digunakan sebagai zat terlarut dengan sifat elektrolit dan non-elektrolit yang berbeda. Prinsip dasar yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah konsep sifat koligatif larutan, khususnya kenaikan titik didih yang bergantung pada jumlah partikel zat terlarut dalam pelarut. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan mengamati titik didih berbagai larutan pada konsentrasi yang berbeda, kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan hukum Raoult dan persamaan Clausius-Clapeyron. Hasil menunjukkan adanya kenaikan titik didih seiring meningkatnya konsentrasi zat terlarut, dengan NaCl menunjukkan pengaruh yang lebih signifikan dibandingkan sukrosa akibat disosiasi ioniknya. Temuan ini mengonfirmasi validitas prinsip termodinamika koligatif secara empiris serta memberikan pemahaman praktis terhadap hubungan antara struktur larutan dan karakteristik termalnya. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti pentingnya integrasi antara pendekatan teoretis dan eksperimental dalam proses pembelajaran fisika.

Abstract

Konversi energi listrik menjadi energi panas merupakan salah satu aplikasi penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari yang bekerja berdasarkan prinsip hukum Joule dan asas Black. Dalam sistem kalorimeter, energi listrik yang dialirkan melalui elemen pemanas akan berubah menjadi energi panas dan diserap oleh udara serta dinding kalorimeter. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan variasi tegangan listrik (5 V dan 7 V) untuk melihat pengaruhnya terhadap jumlah energi yang dibebaskan dan kesetaraan kalor listrik. Data diperoleh melalui pengukuran tegangan, arus, waktu pemanasan, dan perubahan suhu udara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana variasi tegangan mempengaruhi efisiensi konversi energi listrik menjadi panas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar tegangan yang diberikan, maka semakin besar energi listrik yang dilepaskan dan kalor yang diserap oleh sistem. Nilai kesetaraan kalor listrik (γ) diperoleh melalui perbandingan antara energi listrik dan energi kalor, dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 909,72 J/W. Meskipun belum ideal, hasil ini menunjukkan efisiensi konversi yang cukup baik dan mendukung prinsip kekekalan energi.

Abstract

This study conducts a systematic review of 32 articles on Quality Assurance (QA) in Islamic higher education, focusing on geographical contexts, methodological approaches, QA models used, QA dimensions studied, and supporting factors and challenges in QA implementation. The analysis reveals a dominance of research conducted in Indonesia (87%) with qualitative methods as the primary approach (75%), while quantitative and mixed-method studies remain limited. Popular QA models include Total Quality Management (TQM), the PDCA cycle, and the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) with the PPEPP framework, supported by national and international accreditation such as BAN-PT, AUN-QA, and FIBAA. A key analytical finding of this review is that Islamic values are not merely presented as normative foundations but are operationalized within QA practices. Core values such as amanah (accountability), itqan (professional excellence), ihsan (continuous improvement), adl (fairness), and shura (participatory governance) are embedded in leadership decision-making, academic governance, curriculum quality control, and the development of internal quality culture. These values function as internal drivers that strengthen institutional commitment, ethical compliance, and sustainability of QA cycles. The most studied QA dimensions are institutional leadership, human resource development, teaching, and curriculum. Key findings indicate that systematic implementation of QA cycles and accreditation significantly improves accreditation status, institutional reputation, and graduate competitiveness. Main supporting factors include leadership commitment, internal QA regulations, HR training, and cross-institutional collaboration, whereas challenges include limited human resources, funding, organizational culture resistance, and readiness for international standards. The impact of QA is evident in improved academic quality, academic services, and research collaboration. This study recommends enhancing strategic leadership, strengthening HR capacity, digitalizing QA, and promoting global benchmarking as pivotal steps to sustain quality improvement in Islamic higher education towards achieving global reputation and international competitiveness.

Abstract

Low student achievement in physics indicates the need for instructional media that align with learners’ characteristics and learning needs. This study aims to develop an interactive physics learning medium based on the 5E learning cycle model using a three-dimensional Scratch application to enhance students’ learning outcomes on the topic of renewable energy. The research employed a research and development method with a 4D model consisting of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating stages. Data was collected using a validation questionnaire assessing content validity, construct validity, media aspects, pedagogical aspects, and readability. Five pre-service physics teachers participated as expert validators. The results showed an average validity score of 3.56, categorized as highly valid. These findings indicate that the Scratch-based learning medium is feasible and effective for fostering conceptual understanding and strengthening students’ physics identity through engaging and interactive learning experiences. Abstract

Pembelajaran fisika pada materi besaran dan pengukuran seringkali didominasi pembelajaran yang cenderung bersifat teoritis dan minim praktik, serta minim aktivitas berbasis data dan kurang mendukung penguatan pemahaman konseptual yang berdampak pada rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis dan literasi data siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran fisika berbasis model STEM-CTL terintegrasi budaya batik kawung pada materi besaran dan pengukuran yang layak untuk melatih kemampuan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (RD) dengan model 4-D. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari dua dosen dan dua guru fisika sebagai ahli untuk uji kelayakan, serta 29 siswa untuk uji keterbacaan. Teknik analisis data menggunakan Simpangan Baku Ideal (SBi). Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul ajar, LKPD, dan media Scratch dinyatakan sangat layak oleh para ahli. Selain itu, uji keterbacaan oleh siswa menunjukkan kategori sangat layak. Dengan demikian, perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan layak dan siap diimplementasikan sebagai solusi inovatif dalam pembelajaran fisika yang kontekstual sekaligus mendukung pelestarian kearifan lokal.

Abstract

This mixed-methods study, employing correlation analysis, investigated the impact of the internal quality assurance (IQA) system at a leading university in Indonesia. Drawing on data from Internal Quality Audits (AMI) conducted across eleven faculties and institutional units, the research aimed to evaluate institutional performance and identify areas for enhancement. Using a four-point rating scale, descriptive analysis revealed the highest mean scores in Mission (3.86), Governance and Leadership (3.86), Education (3.82), and Finance, Facilities, and Technology (3.77). These findings indicate institutional strengths in strategic direction, organizational performance management, and resource sustainability. Analysis at the faculty level revealed notable variations. For instance, overachievement was observed in specific units (e.g., FBSB, FIPP) and particular selection criteria (e.g., FISHIPOL – Teaching), while the PPGPPI Directorate achieved maximum scores across all indicators. Conversely, lower mean scores were recorded for Community Service (3.58) and Tri Dharma Outputs (3.41), both rated "Very Good," suggesting potential shortcomings in external engagement and research impact. Pearson bivariate correlation analysis identified two primary clusters of significant positive correlations: one among strategic, governance, financial, and output indicators (r = 0.887–0.944; p < 0.01), and another among supporting academic dimensions. The study contributes empirically grounded insights to inform quality policy development. It recommends implementing benchmarking of best practices to enhance community engagement and establishing continuous professional development programs for faculty to strengthen overall institutional quality.
