Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the characteristics of Islamic education in Brunei Darussalam, which is grounded in the philosophy of Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB), and to compare it with Islamic education in Indonesia, which is multicultural and democratic in nature. This research employed a qualitative approach based on a literature review by examining documents, regulations, books, and relevant studies. The findings indicate that MIB serves as a strong ideological framework shaping the curriculum, educational vision, and learning practices in Brunei, resulting in a homogeneous, coherent, and Islamic monarchy–oriented education system. Conversely, the Islamic education system in Indonesia has developed within a context of cultural diversity, decentralized regulations, and more complex social dynamics. The comparison reveals that Brunei excels in the consistency of its educational ideology, whereas Indonesia is more adaptive, inclusive, and responsive to global changes. This study contributes to understanding models of Islamic education development based on state philosophy and offers insights for advancing Islamic education policy in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas secara komprehensif peran negara dalam pengembangan pendidikan Islam di Iran dan Indonesia, khususnya dalam kaitannya dengan upaya mencerdaskan sumber daya manusia (SDM). Kedua negara ini memiliki sejarah perkembangan pendidikan Islam yang panjang dan dipengaruhi oleh latar sosio-politis yang berbeda. Iran, dengan identitas teokrasi Syiah yang kuat, menempatkan pendidikan Islam sebagai instrumen ideologis sekaligus strategis dalam membangun keunggulan bangsa. Sementara itu, Indonesia sebagai negara dengan penduduk Muslim terbesar di dunia mengembangkan pendidikan Islam melalui pendekatan yang lebih inklusif, demokratis, dan partisipatif, sehingga melahirkan keragaman model dan institusi pendidikan.Latar belakang sistem politik menjadi faktor penentu peran negara dalam mengendalikan arah kebijakan pendidikan Islam di masing-masing negara. Di Iran, negara menjadi aktor dominan yang mengatur kurikulum, kualifikasi pendidik, dan arah pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan melalui lembaga-lembaga negara yang terpusat. Model ini memungkinkan Iran menjalankan sistem pendidikan yang seragam dan terarah, terutama dalam integrasi agama dan sains. Sebaliknya, Indonesia memberikan ruang luas kepada masyarakat, organisasi Islam, pesantren, dan lembaga swasta untuk menjadi bagian penting dari perkembangan pendidikan Islam. Pluralitas dan desentralisasi kebijakan pendidikan menjadi ciri khas Indonesia dalam mengembangkan SDM yang religius sekaligus terbuka terhadap dinamika global.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif-deskriptif berbasis studi literatur dengan teknik analisis komparatif untuk mengidentifikasi persamaan dan perbedaan mendasar antara kedua negara. Berbagai sumber ilmiah dianalisis untuk memetakan bagaimana kebijakan pemerintah, budaya religius masyarakat, dan struktur kelembagaan pendidikan berpengaruh terhadap kualitas SDM. Analisis komparatif memungkinkan peneliti melihat pola-pola yang muncul secara spesifik

Abstract

One of the learning models that can be used during the covid-19 period is e-learning. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to create a picture of the application of e-Learning in the process of teaching and learning activities at SMAN 4 Rejang Lebong. The qualitative method was adopted in this study. Data were gathered through interviews and documentation techniques. Following data collection, the data were analyzed using the Miles et al approach, which comprised data reduction, recitation, and conclusion drawing. This study drew the following conclusions: The management of e-Learning at SMA Negeri 4 Rejang Lebong was going well, as evidenced by adequate infrastructure and financing. However, if it was not supported by adequate human resources, it would be constrained and its implementation would not be maximal. To the objectives as desirable, the school’s serious efforts and hard work were required. The constraints of e-learning implementation extended to human resources, communication networks, difficulty in obtaining affective and psychomotor assessments, time sharing, lack of parental motivation, and students’ values below the standard. As the solution, teachers should explore their abilities and creativities to seek innovations, and there must be positive and strong principal leadership, continuous monitoring, student responsibility, and incentives.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the contribution of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based learning management to improving the effectiveness of the Independent Curriculum, which emphasizes flexibility, differentiated instruction, and continuous assessment in authentic educational contexts. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected from school leaders, teachers, and academic coordinators involved in curriculum implementation through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis to explore AI-supported instructional planning, learning implementation, and assessment practices. The findings reveal that AI-based learning management enhances instructional effectiveness by facilitating differentiated learning, enabling real-time monitoring of student progress, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and reducing teachers’ administrative workload. These results demonstrate that AI functions not merely as a pedagogical tool but as an integrated learning management system that strengthens curriculum implementation. The study implies that the strategic integration of AI into learning management practices can support the sustainability and effectiveness of the Independent Curriculum, provided that institutional readiness, clear management strategies, and continuous professional capacity development are adequately addressed

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia and the National Curriculum in England in developing 21st-century skills. Through a systematic literature review of policy documents, reports from educational institutions, and recent empirical studies, the analysis focuses on three main aspects: the philosophical and conceptual orientation of both curricula, the recommended teaching approaches for their implementation, and the assessment mechanisms used to evaluate student competence development. The findings show that the Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes pedagogical flexibility, contextual learning, and project-based activities aimed at fostering independence and character development. In contrast, the National Curriculum in England is characterized by more structured learning achievement standards, clear implementation guidelines, and a well-established system of professional development and accountability. Despite having different orientations, both curricula prioritize strengthening critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. The study also highlights that the effectiveness of a curriculum is not only determined by its design but also by the institutional capacity and teacher readiness to translate it into practice. Variations in school resources and educator professional competencies pose specific challenges in Indonesia, while England benefits from a long-established supporting structure. Overall, the findings affirm the importance of aligning curriculum flexibility with consistent policy support to ensure meaningful development of 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Pendidikan Islam di Malaysia memiliki peran yang sangat strategis dalam membentuk karakter generasi muda yang beriman, bertakwa, dan berakhlak mulia. Melalui proses pendidikan yang terstruktur dan berkelanjutan, pendidikan Islam diarahkan untuk membangun kepribadian peserta didik yang seimbang antara dimensi spiritual, intelektual, emosional, dan sosial. Nilai-nilai Islam tidak hanya diajarkan secara teoritis, tetapi juga diinternalisasikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sehingga mampu membentuk sikap dan perilaku positif generasi muda.Perkembangan pendidikan Islam di Malaysia tidak terlepas dari kebijakan negara yang menempatkan Islam sebagai agama Persekutuan. Posisi ini memberikan landasan konstitusional yang kuat bagi penyelenggaraan dan pengembangan pendidikan Islam di berbagai jenjang pendidikan, baik formal maupun nonformal. Negara berperan aktif dalam merumuskan kurikulum, menyediakan lembaga pendidikan Islam, serta memastikan bahwa nilai-nilai keislaman terintegrasi dalam sistem pendidikan nasional.Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara komprehensif peran pendidikan Islam dalam membentuk karakter generasi muda di Malaysia. Selain itu, kajian ini juga membahas metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam menganalisis fenomena pendidikan Islam, serta mengidentifikasi berbagai kelemahan dan tantangan yang dihadapi dalam implementasinya. Pembahasan difokuskan pada aspek kebijakan, praktik pendidikan, dan respons lembaga pendidikan Islam terhadap dinamika sosial yang terus berkembang.Lebih lanjut, artikel ini menguraikan dampak kebijakan pemerintah terhadap keberlangsungan dan kualitas pendidikan Islam di Malaysia. Kebijakan tersebut mencakup dukungan regulasi, pendanaan, serta penguatan sumber daya manusia dalam bidang pendidikan Islam. Di sisi lain, pendidikan Islam juga dihadapkan pada tantangan globalisasi, modernisasi, dan perkembangan teknologi yang menuntut adanya inovasi dalam metode pembelajaran tanpa menghilangkan nilai-nilai dasar ajaran Islam.Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan Islam memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan dalam penanaman nilai moral, disiplin, tanggung jawab sosial, serta pembentukan identitas keislaman generasi muda. Meskipun demikian, diperlukan upaya berkelanjutan dari negara, lembaga pendidikan, dan masyarakat untuk mengatasi berbagai tantangan yang ada. Dengan sinergi yang kuat, pendidikan Islam di Malaysia diharapkan mampu terus berperan sebagai fondasi utama dalam membangun generasi muda yang berkarakter, berdaya saing, dan berlandaskan nilai-nilai Islam.
