Abstract

This study aims to examine the meaning of body gestures in the depiction of Arjuna within the Kamasan Wayang paintings using Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach. The Kamasan Wayang painting, a traditional Balinese art form, is rich in philosophical and symbolic meanings reflecting moral, heroic, and spiritual values of Balinese society. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with semiotic analysis focusing on Barthes’ two levels of meaning: denotation and connotation. The findings reveal that Arjuna’s gestures in Kamasan paintings convey not only aesthetic beauty but also profound moral and social messages. The upright posture with folded hands symbolizes self-control, loyalty, and wisdom, while the eye direction represents harmony between strength and gentleness. Overall, Kamasan Wayang serves as a cultural text that embodies ethical and spiritual values in Balinese life. Thus, Barthesian semiotics effectively reveals the deeper meanings behind traditional visual symbols.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the AIDA concept (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) is applied in the marketing communication strategy carried out by SiantarPonsel, a certified smartphone retailer in Denpasar, particularly in promoting Apple products. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through direct observation, interviews with the store manager, staff members, and customers, as well as documentation of both online and offline promotional activities. The findings show that SiantarPonsel strengthens the Attention stage through window displays, banners, and visual promotional materials; the Interest stage through social media content, product education, and device demonstrations; the Desire stage through interpersonal communication that highlights product authenticity, official warranty, and long-term value; and the Action stage through installment programs, trade-in options, and WhatsApp Broadcasts that encourage purchasing decisions. These strategies help build a strong perception of quality and increase consumer interest in Apple products among local buyers in Denpasar. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating offline and online marketing communication and the role of staff competence in shaping purchasing decisions for premium products.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the persuasive communication strategies implemented by the Komodo National Park Authority in preventing wildlife poaching in West Manggarai Regency. Wildlife poaching poses a serious threat to the sustainability of Komodo dragons and their primary prey, such as the Timor deer, thereby disrupting ecosystem balance and increasing the risk of human wildlife conflict. Although law enforcement efforts have been carried out, behavioral change within local communities cannot be achieved solely through legal measures without the support of effective and human-centered communication strategies. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis. The Yale Model of Persuasive Communication serves as the analytical framework to evaluate the effectiveness of the communicator, message construction, communication channels, and the stages of message learning, including attention, comprehension, learnability, acceptance, and retention. The findings indicate that the credibility of communicators such as Forest Rangers and respected community leaders plays a significant role in increasing message acceptance. Messages combining rational appeals with emotional narratives are proven to be more effective in fostering ecological awareness and empathy. Additionally, direct outreach and community-based counseling within conservation areas emerge as the most influential communication channels due to their personal and contextually relevant nature. In conclusion, persuasive communication serves as a strategic tool in building awareness, shaping attitudes, and encouraging behavioral change to reduce wildlife poaching. This study highlights the importance of integrating persuasive communication with conservation management as a long-term preventive strategy

Abstract

Abstract

This research is motivated by the challenges of adapting introverted Generation Z in entering the world of work which demands intense social interaction, team collaboration, and professional adjustment. The purpose of this study is to understand the interpersonal communication dynamics of introverted Generation Z in the transition to the world of work in the city of Medan. This study used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with sixteen informants, including introverted individuals aged 18–25 years, two young psychologists, and one job accommodator, and analyzed using the Johari Window theory which divides self-awareness into open areas, blind areas, hidden areas, and unknown areas. The results of the study show that the interpersonal communication of introverted Generation Z develops gradually and reflectively; Their open area expands as confidence and work experience increase, blind areas narrow through feedback receipts, hidden areas decrease as trust in the work environment grows, and unknown areas shrink as their potential is revealed. They develop authentic communication strategies that balance introspection, expression, and social adaptation, without having to turn the personality into extroverted. In conclusion, the survival of introverted Generation Z in the world of work is adaptive and reflective, emphasizing the importance of social experiences, environmental support, and the development of self-awareness to build effective and professional communication.
