Abstract

Environmental education has not been studied in Islamic boarding schools, so students do not maintain cleanliness and do not understand the meaning of environmental education. In contrast, environmental education is a teaching of Islam. Recently, much research that combines environmental education with Sufism teachings is still not widely done. This study aims to describe environmental education from an Islamic point of view, especially from a Sufism perspective. Qualitative research with a systematic literature review was employed in this study. Three steps consisted of planning, conducting, and reporting were geared to collect the data. The results indicated that 1) Sufism taught environmental ethics. As a result, students had more noble character because Sufism covered various aspects of human activities; 2) The environment functioned as a verse (a sign of God's greatness), as material for reflection (tafakur) to take lessons and media to fulfill human needs, as a manifestation of God's form, and as a means for God to introduce Himself to humans; 3) Allah SWT created his creation for two purposes. Those are a servant of Allah SWT and as caliphs on earth, so the people always seek knowledge to recognize Allah (ma'rifatullah); and 4) the scope of environmental education in the perspective of Sufism included the physical realm, the spiritual realm, the realm of sentences, and the nature of God's substance. Sufism is needed to establish human morals toward the environment so that humans sincerely preserve and do not damage the environment. This is based on the nature of compassion for the environment as a manifestation of the nature of the mercy of God's womb. The ultimate goal is that humans reach the highest degree, which is knowing God (ma'rifatullah). The procedures consist of three steps. They are planning, conducting, and reporting.

Abstract

Living in an Islamic boarding school has its challenges, especially for students. Various studies on indigenous counseling, but no one has examined the culture of Islamic boarding schools. This study aimed to analyze and create the construct of counseling relationships in Islamic boarding schools to support a part of the indigenous counseling construction in the Islamic field. The research method used was a hermeneutic study using an emancipatory approach. Data analysis used the stages compiled by Paul Ricoeur. The primary data was a book of Ta'limul Muta'alim by Az-Zarnuji. The study results found elements of counseling relationships between counselors and students in Islamic boarding schools. It is not only counselors who have to manage attitudes in counseling relationships but also students. This finding was different from the previous concept of counseling relationships through a humanistic approach that the counselor must accept students unconditionally. On the other hand, empathy is an essential key in counseling relationships, so it aligns with the concept of humanistic counseling. The contribution of this research is to provide new insights into the form of counseling relationships in indigenous counseling at Islamic boarding schools. This finding is a series of constructions to create an indigenous counseling model and determine the counselor criteria in Islamic boarding schools. The structure is beneficial for counseling practice in Indonesia through the counselor’s role in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

People with severe mental disorder (PSMD; Orang Dengan Gangguan Jiwa, ODGJ) are a vulnerable group of people who experience loss of their rights to life because of their mental limitations, namely the right to work and earn an income independently. In previous activities, there was an opportunity for PSMD to recover through a series of training. To achieve recovery, it is necessary to hold a patient selection program so that patients who take part in the training series are not in the acute phase. Mental health cadres who are close to the community have a big role in determining which PSMD will then take part in entrepreneurship training activities. Therefore, mental health cadres need to deepen their insight into mental disorders and increase their empowerment in patient selection programs for PSMD. This activity aims to increase the understanding of mental health cadres regarding mental disorders and increase their empowerment in implementing patient selection programs for PSMD. The method used was by conducting outreach to mental health cadres regarding the topic of mental disorders as well as providing patient selection program training to mental health cadres. Before counseling and training, a 10-minute pre-test was conducted for the participants, then continued with an outreach and training session as well as questions and answers and discussions for approximately 60 minutes, and at the end a 10-minute post-test was carried out. The results showed an increase in pre-test and post-test data on the topic of mental disorders as well as an increase in empowerment by mental health cadre participants in carrying out patient selection programs. Community service activities regarding patient selection program training for mental health cadres in developing independent businesses for PSMD families in the Gresik district have provided improvements to mental health cadres, namely in the form of increased insight regarding mental disorders and increased empowerment in carrying out patient selection programs for PSMD.

Abstract

Intolerance is one of the problems that occurs in Indonesia, especially in Gresik district. Educational institutions are the right solution to instill the value of moderation which can eliminate attitudes of intolerance, especially starting from early childhood education. Taman Asuh Anak Muslim (TAAM) Adinda is one of the early childhood education institutions located in Kepatihan village, Menganti sub-district, Gresik district. This institution consists of KB, RA, TPA, and TPQ. The problem faced at TAAM Adinda is that many educators and parents still do not understand the methods and importance of the value of religious moderation in early childhood. This community service activity was carried out to increase knowledge and understanding about increasing the value of religious moderation in early childhood at TAAM Adinda, Kepatihan Menganti Gresik. The time for implementing activities is 4 months. The method used was to gather educators and parents of TAAM Adinda students and then provide counseling about increasing the value of religious moderation in early childhood. This extension uses lecture and question and answer methods. The respondent's level of knowledge can be determined through a pre-test in the form of a questionnaire which will be filled in by the respondent to determine the level of knowledge regarding increasing the value of religious moderation in early childhood. The pre-test was carried out before the counseling was given, meanwhile to determine the increase in respondents' knowledge regarding increasing the value of religious moderation in early childhood, it could be determined by comparing the results of the post-test which was completed by the respondents after the counseling was carried out with the results of the pre-test. The output results of this community service activity are national journals and reports on increasing respondents' knowledge, understanding and awareness regarding increasing the value of religious moderation in early childhood. The conclusion in this community service activity is that the knowledge of educators and parents of students at the TAAM Adinda institution based on the pre-test results is mostly still low, while based on the post-test results, almost all participants have experienced an increase.

Abstract

Background: The number of people with mental disorders (ODGJ) in Gresik Regency in 2020 reached 2,250 people with mental health service coverage reaching 64%. These mental health services are limited to examination and treatment only. In the last three years (2020-2022) the Proposing Team initiated a mental and psychosocial recovery program for ODGJ in Tlogopojok Village, Gresik District, and succeeded in achieving a recovery rate from zero to 60%. This activity will continue this year as an ongoing program with a variety of programs and wider sub-district coverage in Gresik District. This community center will be a forum for training, mentoring and coaching activities for ODGJ from both health and socio-economic aspects. Objective: This community service activity aims to develop the health and socioeconomic independence of ODGJ, by establishing a community center for ODGJ. Method: The implementation method used in this Mental Warriors community service activity uses a participatory rural appraisal (PRA) model, namely non-productive communities are invited proactively to build health and socioeconomic independence. The implementation stages start from counseling, training and mentoring. Results: Selecting stable ODGJ can use the PULIH questionnaire, Sensory-Cognitive activities provide provision to ODGJ to understand orders and maintain cleanliness before implementing the culinary program, and culinary training activities for making salted egg dishes can provide provision to ODGJ and their families in the context of independent socio-economic empowerment . Conclusion: 1) Selecting stable ODGJ can still use the PULIH questionnaire, but on the other hand it still requires clinical re-assessment by a mental expert (psychiatrist or psychologist) 2) Sensory-Cognitive activities can provide provisions for ODGJ to understand commands and maintain cleanliness before implementing culinary programs. 3) Culinary training activities for making salted egg dishes and talam cakes can provide provisions for ODGJ and their families in the context of independent socioeconomic empowerment.

Abstract

Take a look at from the current situation, drinking a cup of coffee in a coffee shop becomes a living style trend in society. Not only teenagers experience enjoyable and comfort there, but also adult people feel the same too. This phenomenon are happening right now. Seeing this situation, it would be better if the activity of drinking coffee that was liked by the general public could be a way to overcome boredom in learning English, especially in speaking skills. However, not all students can get these facilities due to economic factors. They are called "Underprivileged Students". So, with this activity, it is hoped that it can help disadvantaged students so that they can get additional English education. The ranking shows that the English ability of the people in Indonesia is in the very low category. Without exception, teenagers or students in Surabaya. Especially those who experience this problem are underprivileged students, because they only get education through formal schools which are only carried out in class or online so they are less effective. As stated in the sub-chapter description of partner problems, there are solutions to overcome problems with partners. One of the creative ideas that can be done is to learn English at the Coffee Shop. This activity will take place through 4 stages, the first is pre-activity, the second is the general stage which includes the inauguration of the activity, the third is the core of the activity, and the fourth is the evaluation of the activity.
