Abstract

The Semeru eruption in 2021 had a traumatic impact for almost a year. People there live with anxiety and traumatic symptoms, including Children. This study aims to identify the post-traumatic conditions of children in this recovery stage. This research was qualitative research with a phenomenological design. The main subjects were 94 children in the Supiturang village, Lumajang, the closest village to Mount Semeru. Data were collected by observing and interviewing the children. Triangulation of data was carried out by in-depth interviews with six adults (the parents, the village elder, and the teacher of some children). The results showed that (1) anxiety and traumatic symptoms in some children were relatively high; (2) there was an increase in social support from the community for the children, and (3) religious activities made a deeper meaning in the children's recovery process. The results of this study underline that social support and religious approaches as the main factors in children's recovery process. The results of this study underlie the need for alternative treatments based on local wisdom with a collective and religious approach so that the community can do it independently and sustainably for the children.

Abstract

The workshop was initiated in response to challenges faced by elementary school teachers in remote and underdeveloped regions, who often struggle with selecting appropriate teaching media. Additionally, elementary students in these areas tend to spend excessive time on gadgets without using them for learning purposes. This study aims to educate teachers on creating science posters using Canva, thus fostering character development and promoting the wise use of technology for learning. The project-based workshop included several stages: a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) to align the teachers' understanding, project-based learning planning, poster creation using Canva, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. The program successfully enhanced the digital literacy and design skills of teachers to create poster integrated with character. The Canva design workshop was held virtually via Zoom, focusing on open media, learning posters, module covers, and learning videos. This activity was attended by teachers from various regions. The program lasted for two sessions (theory and practice of making products). The program has succeeded in helping teachers improve their creative design skills amidst limited access to technology in remote and outermost areas. The teachers managed to operate Canva well, showing high enthusiasm in improving their design skills. The evaluation showed high participant satisfaction, with 57% satisfied and 43% very satisfied. This workshop has succeeded in encouraging teachers to be more creative and innovative in the technology-based learning process.Abstrak. Lokakarya ini digagas sebagai respons terhadap tantangan yang dihadapi oleh guru-guru SD di daerah terpencil dan terbelakang, yang sering kali kesulitan dalam memilih media pembelajaran yang tepat. Abstract

Background: Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions that teach religious morals as a basis for behavior should be a safe and comfortable place of education for students. There should be no more violence occurring in Islamic boarding schools, but in fact, recently there has been a lot of news about incidents of violence or bullying occurring in Islamic boarding schools. Islamic boarding schools are expected to provide a safe environment for students while fostering religious and moral values. However, incidents of bullying continue to occur within these institutions, highlighting a gap between expected and actual student experiences. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the factors that influence bullying incidents in an Islamic boarding school environment. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Al-Hidayah Islamic Boarding School, Sidoarjo, involving 109 students selected through simple random sampling (10% of the population). Independent variables included age, gender, school level, length of stay, and peer perception, while the dependent variable was bullying incidence. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The results indicated that 68.8% of respondents were in early adolescence (12–16 years), 60.6% were male, and 52.3% had stayed at the boarding school for over 35 months. Additionally, 68.8% of respondents had negative perceptions of their peers. The regression analysis yielded a significance value of 0.004 (p < 0.05) with an R-square of 15.4%, indicating that all independent variables jointly influenced bullying incidents. Conclusion: Age, gender, school level, length of stay in the boarding school, and peer perceptions collectively influence bullying behavior among students. These findings highlight the need for boarding school administrators to implement policies and interventions that address these contributing factors to reduce bullying prevalence.
