Abstract

One of the important branches of science on an international scale is scientific literacy. This study aimed to increase the science literacy knowledge of elementary school students on the material of the solar system. This study uses the ADDIE type Research and Development (R&D) method, starting from analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Expert testing of a learning product was carried out by users of the Planetarium Glass application, namely grade VI students of SDN Patengteng 2. The results of this media trial on 22 respondents showed 80% effectiveness. This research instrument uses an online questionnaire to users to determine the effectiveness of this learning media. The final result of the Planetarium Glass application media based on augmented reality is an application format that can be used by utilizing an android-based smartphone. This media provides information about the material of the solar system in the form of 3D virtual animation (3 dimensions) accompanied by an explanation of each object in audio form and is equipped with an application usage module. This media is designed to facilitate students' understanding in understanding the material of the solar system effectively and efficiently because students can see directly the material conveyed via the smartphone they use. Learning using the Planetarium Glass application can be used as an alternative learning media in increasing science literacy knowledge of elementary school students, especially in Madura.

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop an Islamic Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) Activity Storybook prototype, which is a storybook with STEAM learning activity content in it, and there is an integration between the concept of science and Islamic content. The Design Research with the Plomp Model went through the preliminary investigation, design, and construction phases. The preliminary investigation results showed that Kindergarten teachers did not understand the essential elements in the implementation of STEAM learning and still did not have adequate references and media for STEAM learning implementation. In the design phase, principles in developing the Islamic STEAM Activity Storybook for Early Childhood and criteria for STEM/STEAM learning-based storybooks were formulated before entering the construction phase. The storyboard is developed to determine the narrative, activity sheet, context, or description of the image on the specified book page in the construction phase. The whole process was put forward as a reference for developing the Islamic STEAM Activity Storybook for Early Childhood on other STEAM learning content. The results of this study can help teachers and parents to plan and implement STEAM learning with Islamic content for early childhood.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and evaluate the hybrid-based learning media "Rotemz" in elementaryschools, especially to foster students’ interest in learning. Currently, hybrid-based learning media is stillrarely available in elementary schools. The research method used is research and development. Thedevelopment of this teaching media was carried out based on an analysis of the needs of grade 4 studentsusing the 4D development model. The development procedure includes the Define, Design and Developstages. Media validation is carried out by involving media experts, natural science material experts, andpractitioners. The validation results are used as a basis for improving learning media. This teaching mediawas implemented at SDN Ketintang II Surabaya involving 30 grade 4 students. The effectiveness of themedia in fostering students’ interest in learning was evaluated using a questionnaire filled in by teachers andstudents after the learning process. The research results show that Rotemz teaching media obtained verygood validation results based on several important aspects such as media appearance, material durability, language, suitability to learning objectives, and concept correctness. Rotemz teaching media is very suitablefor use in learning in fourth grade elementary schools. The use of this media has succeeded in growingstudents’ interest in learning and helping overcome students’ learning concentration problems. Rotemzteaching media is different from existing learning media because this media is hybrid and 3-dimensionalbased with a focus on natural resource material.

This study aims to identify the post-traumatic conditions of children in this recovery stage. This research was qualitative research with a phenomenological design. The main subjects were 94 children in the Supiturang village, Lumajang, the closest village to Mount Semeru. Data were collected by observing and interviewing the children. Triangulation of data was carried out by in-depth interviews with six adults (the parents, the village elder, and the teacher of some children). The results showed that (1) anxiety and traumatic symptoms in some children were relatively high; (2) there was an increase in social support from the community for the children, and (3) religious activities made a deeper meaning in the children's recovery process. The results of this study underline that social support and religious approaches as the main factors in children's recovery process. The results of this study underlie the need for alternative treatments based on local wisdom with a collective and religious approach so that the community can do it independently and sustainably for the children.

Abstract

Bullying in early childhood is a serious issue that negatively affects children’s social and emotional development. At this stage, children may act either as perpetrators or victims, both of which can influence character formation, emotional regulation, the ability to build social relationships, and the development of prosocial behavior. This study aims to examine the relationship between bullying behavior and social-emotional development in early childhood. A quantitative approach with a correlational method was employed. The sample consisted of 398 early childhood students from one early childhood education institution, selected through a total sampling technique. The research instrument used was a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, Spearman’s correlation test, cross-tabulation, and ordinal logistic regression. The findings indicate that most children fall into the low category of bullying and the moderate-to-high category of social-emotional development. Spearman’s correlation test revealed a significant positive relationship between bullying and social-emotional development (p = 0.001; r = 0.177). Furthermore, ordinal logistic regression analysis showed that social-emotional development significantly affects the level of bullying (p = 0.007; parameter estimate = 2.818). These results suggest that bullying behavior is significantly associated with the social-emotional development of early childhood students.
