Abstract

This research aims to analyze mastery of understanding physics concepts in material motion kinematics material. Mastery of concepts is one of the important goals in the physics learning process. This research uses a case study approach with a post-test only one group design. The research sample consisted of 739 level 1 students. Instruments study consists of 28 multiple choice questions. The results of the research show that the majority of students have mastered the understanding of physics concepts the average ability is around -0.3032 to -0.0137 logit or lower than 0.0 logit. Scale theta covers a range from approximately -5.21 (for a score of 0) to 5.52 (for a score of 35). This means that students' abilities are distributed from very low to very high. Rasch models can be analyze mastery of understanding physics concepts well. Learning physics requires a learning process that can increase mastery of concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to produce animation learning media on OHS courses with the help of software. This research uses Lee & Owens development research model. This research is done through 5 stages, namely assessment or analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation. This research uses questionnaires to test the feasibility of learning media products through the validation of material experts and media experts. Assessments from students using scale instruments designed for validation of experts, materials, students, and construction skilled workers. Learning media products in the form of five animated videos. The rating by media experts of 87.13% is considered highly feasible. The assessment by the material expert scored at 81.43 which is categorized as very feasible. Assessments by students through limited trials scored 85, 86% of which were categorized as highly feasible. Assessments by construction skilled workers through limited trials get a value of 87% which is also categorized as highly feasible.

Abstract

Digital-based learning is currently trending and continues to increase along with the development of technology. This study aims to explore the main factors underlying the interactivity of the Learning Management System (LMS) in increasing the learning engagement of students of the Faculty of Engineering; using the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) method, the LMS interactivity instrument was evaluated through a survey of 108 students. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) test produced a value of 0.85, indicating perfect sample adequacy, and Bartlett's Test of Sphericity showed significant results (χ² = 456.21; p < 0.05). Four main factors were identified with a total variance of 65.9%, including: (1) active student involvement (31.2%), (2) constructivism-based learning approach (15.8%), (3) student intrinsic motivation (12.1%), and (4) ease of technology navigation (6.8%). The results of the reliability test showed a Cronbach's Alpha value > 0.70 for all factors, indicating good internal consistency. This study concluded that interactive and data-driven LMS design can significantly increase student engagement. The developed instrument is valid and reliable for measuring LMS interactivity and can be a reference for educational institutions in developing technology-based learning systems.

Abstract

Purpose – The development of technology presents new challenges, along with the weakening of literacy culture. In the learning process at SMK, project-based learning still uses conventional models, and students still do not understand them. The drawback is in the syntax used; a leap in stages should allow students to explore the product first. On the other hand, literacy has a strategic role in developing the competencies of Vocational High School students. This study aims to develop a vocational literacy-based learning model in vocational schools.Methodology—The research method used is the Traditional mix method, which is limited to the stage of development (development) and expert validation by involving experts in the fields of learning design and language. The result of this study is the syntax of a vocational literacy-based learning model.Findings—The final validation analysis by experts yielded validity values of 0.80 (learning design) and 0.79 (language).Significance—This means that this vocational literacy-based learning model is feasible for use in teaching and learning activities at the vocational level. Keywords : Vocational Literacy, Vocational High School, Learning Model

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the context of education, particularly in Mechanical Engineering subjects. Its aim is to enhance students’ understanding of Mechanical Engineering concepts and identify its positive impact on learning outcomes. The method employed is literature review, involving data collection and analysis from various literature sources. The study demonstrates that PBL significantly benefits students’ learning outcomes across different educational contexts. Several studies support the notion that PBL improves students’ critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and collaborative abilities in understanding Mechanical Engineering concepts. These findings provide a robust foundation for the development and implementation of PBL in education, including vocational high schools and Mechanical Engineering subjects. The conclusion drawn is that PBL is an effective learning approach, especially in the context of Mechanical Engineering education, by engaging students in solving real-life problems. Therefore, the adoption of PBL is expected to enhance overall educational quality and better prepare students for the increasingly complex demands of the future workforce. Suggestions for further research include continuously developing and testing innovative teaching methods, including PBL, and enhancing collaboration and supportive educational policies. Regular evaluation of teaching method effectiveness is also crucial to ensure learning objectives are achieved. It is anticipated that this research will make a significant contribution to the advancement of education in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to identify strategies for developing HOTS assessment instruments in high school physics subjects. The research employs bibliometric methods and qualitative approach to analyze various journals published between 2019 and 2023. The analysis results indicate that the development of HOTS instruments is driven by the need for 21st-century skills and is supported by findings from international surveys such as PISA and TIMSS. The most commonly developed assessment forms include test questions in the form of multiple choice, multiple choice with reasoning, and essays. These questions are designed with HOTS characteristics in mind, including HOTS indicators, operational verbs, physics problem contexts, stimuli, and Bloom's taxonomy. Physics topics that are frequently developed include subjects such as temperature and heat, harmonic vibrations, sound and light waves, thermodynamics, as well as static and dynamic fluids. Commonly used research methods for this development include Borg and Gall's R&D method, the 4D method, qualitative descriptive methods, and the ADDIE method. HOTS instrument undergoes a series of feasibility tests and analyses, including validity testing by validators, statistical validity tests, reliability tests, difficulty level tests, discrimination index tests, Rasch model analysis, analysis using the Alpha Cronbach formula, and distractor analysis. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for developing valid, reliable, and relevant HOTS assessment instruments that meet the needs of high school physics education.

Abstract

This research aims to design and develop video presentation media that is applied to the Hydrology course. This research applies the Research and Development (R & D) method with the Borg and Gall model which is limited to small group trials. Media validation is used for expert validation with Aiken's V formula and assessment of students using a test. The validation results show that the media is suitable to be used. The results of the pre-test and post-test that were analyzed by t-test obtained a significant t-count of 5.052 from 36 students. Based on this analysis, it can be concluded that this presentation video learning media is appropriate and effective on a limited scale for learning Hydrology courses in the educational of building engineering, State University of Jakarta. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan media video presentasi yang diterapkan pada mata kuliah Hidrologi. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode Research and Development (R & D) dengan model Borg dan Gall yang dibatasi sampai ujicoba kelompok kecil. Validasi media yang digunakan untuk validasi ahli dengan formula Aiken’s V dan untuk penilaian dari mahasiswa menggunakan tes. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa media layak digunakan. Hasil pre-test dan post test yang dianalisis dengan uji t dari 36 mahasiswa diperoleh thitung sebesar 5,052 yang signifikan. Berdasarkan analisis tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran video presentasi ini layak digunakan dan efektif pada skala terbatas untuk pembelajaran mata kuliah Hidrologi di Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan Universitas Negeri Jakarta.

Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika penting dimilki oleh seluruh siswa termasuk siswa kelas V sekolah dasar, karena dapat membantu dalam menghadapi tantangan zaman dan kehidupan sehari-hari yang semakin kompleks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pengembangan dan validasi instrumen kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa secara psikometrika. Metode yang digunakan yaitu mixed method dengan jenis sequential exploratory yang didahului metode kualitatif dan setelah itu dikuatkan dengan metode kuantitatif. Teknik sampel yang dilakukan adalah purposive sampling. Analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan model rasch yang merupakan bagian dari teori respon butir (IRT) pada teori tes modern melalui aplikasi winstep. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, dapat diketahui bahwa pada proses pengembangannya secara kualitatif, instrumen ini sudah sesuai antara indikator pemecahan masalah matematika dengan capaian dan tujuan pembelajarannya. Kemudian secara kuantitatif menurut pakar instrumen soal kemampuan masalah matematika sudah valid yang berarti telah layak untuk  digunakan. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan ujicoba lapangan pada 163 responden siswa kelas V di Jakarta Timur yang menghasilkan bahwa instrumen telah memenuhi persyaratan model rasch IRT dan dapat digunakan pada kemampuan siswa rata-rata sekitar -1 logit sampai 0 logit.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the need to develop assessment instruments for higher-order thinking skills in teaching Engineering Mechanics in Vocational High Schools under the Construction and Property Technology Expertise Program and explore directions for future research.Methodology – This study employs a Traditional Literature Review approach to summarize, analyze, and synthesize over 100 scholarly sources from Google Scholar and Scopus databases from 2016 to 2025. The analysis uses keywords such as higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), assessment, Engineering Mechanics, vocational high schools (SMK), and test theory.Findings – The review findings indicate that the teaching of Engineering Mechanics in vocational high schools (SMK) has not yet optimally incorporated higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Teachers tend to use test items based on classical test theory, which are limited in accurately measuring students' analytical and problem-solving skills. The assessment approaches employed have yet to consider the alignment of test items with students' characteristics.Contribution – This study contributes to the development of more accurate HOTS-based Engineering Mechanics assessment instruments through the application of modern test theory, while also enhancing the quality of teaching and assessment in Vocational High Schools specializing in Construction and Property Technology to better align with industry demands.

Abstract

Purpose – This study evaluates the success of developing podcast-based learning media in Vocational Education Management courses in higher education. The background of this study is the need for innovation in learning media responsive to the development of digital technology, especially in supporting vocational learning that emphasizes practical and applied skills.Methodology – This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey design and an explanatory and correlational approach through the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The sampling technique was randomly conducted on 168 students from five Building Engineering Education Study Program classes who had taken the course. The research instrument covers six variables: content, technical aspects, learning design, involvement and motivation, implementation and benefits, and perceived usefulness.Findings – The results showed that all indicators met convergent validity with an AVE value above 0.847 and high consistent reliability (CR> 0.95). The six aspects of the study contributed an influence of 87.10%, and the five measurement variables contributed 50.40%. Hypothesis H-DIR5 (IBA→PU) obtained a value of β = 0.213, T-statistic = 2.847 and ρ-value = 0.005. Based on this, the value of the technical aspect, implementation aspects, and benefits has a positive influence, which means that the more the two aspects increase, the more the perceived usefulness of media development increases.Significance – This study provides an empirical evaluation model for the effectiveness of podcast-based learning media in vocational education. These findings can be the basis for developing digital learning strategies that are more effective, interactive, and relevant to students' needs and the demands of the world of work in the digital era. In addition, this study's results can enrich the literature on applying the PLS-SEM model in evaluating technology-based learning media in higher education environments.
