Abstract

This article discusses the history of the Mogang tradition in Batu Bara. This tradition has been carried out since the 1700s. In Batu Bara, this tradition has been a hereditary culture since the Kedatuan era until now. Batu Bara is an area located on the eastern coast of Sumatra and faces the Strait of Malacca, precisely at the mouth of the Batu Bara River. This study uses the historical method in four writing steps, namely; heuristics, verification or criticism, interpretation, and historiography, with a cultural approach. Based on the information the author got, in Batu Bara there are ancient tombs that are thought to be from the 18th century. This proves that, there were already human settlements in the area before the 18th century. Mogang itself means slaughtering or slaughtering. Usually, this tradition is carried out by Kedatuan in welcoming the Holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. In this tradition, Kedatuan slaughtered livestock to be distributed to the community. Along with its development, this tradition also has economic, social, cultural and religious values.

Abstract

This article aims to make an inventory of ancient tombs in the city of Medan, especially those scattered around Neighborhoods III and V, Martubung Village, Medan Labuhan District. The strategic position of Medan City causes this region to have diversity in terms of culture and others. No exception, the typology of ancient tombs in this region is also influenced by various countries that have come into contact with this region, one of which is Aceh. This research is included in the type of field research using historical research methods. The results of this study indicate that: 1) the number of ancient tombs identified in Martubung Village are five tombs, namely: the tombs of Datuk Tongah, Datuk Payung, Datuk Hasan, Datuk Hitam and Datuk Dadih. However, only two tombs still leave historical traces in the form of tombstones, namely the tomb of Datuk Tongah and the tomb of Datuk Payung; 2) The condition of the ancient tombs in Martubung Village is currently very worrying because there are only two tombs left with cracked headstones on the body and head of the headstone; and 3) efforts to maintain ancient tombs in Martubung Village are only carried out by the surrounding community in a makeshift way without government intervention.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether the Lingkar Inspirasi Bangsa podcast can be a medium of education and information for the community, especially teenagers. The research method used is descriptive study research which focuses on searching for information related to existing symptoms, supported by an explanation of the objectives achieved. The data collection technique applied uses interviews and observation as primary data plus documentation as secondary data. The research results obtained are that every podcast episode that has been selected and watched by the informant, namely Duta Siswa Sumatera Utara 2022, becomes a new experience and learning so that any information and education obtained can be applied according to their individual needs.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see the effectiveness of exposure to @helwabasheel account fashion content on TikTok and Instagram on consumptive behavior. The method used in this research is a Quantitative approach. The population used is followers of @helwabasheel's TikTok and Instagram accounts. The sample taken by the researcher amounted to 50 respondents who were active followers on the TikTok and Instagram @helwabasheel accounts using purposive sampling techniques. The research data collection was carried out using a questionnaire with a Likert scale using indicators of effectiveness and consumptive behavior. Data analysis techniques using SPSS 22, with multiple linear regression analysis tests accompanied by t tests and F tests. The results of the analysis show that the coefficient of determination of the effectiveness of exposure to Tiktok and Instagram fashion content on consumptive behavior is 77.5%, while the remaining 22.5% is influenced by other factors, and is not included in this study. While the t test value of 4.119 with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, this proving that the effectiveness of exposure to Tiktok content (X1) has a positive effect on consumptive behavior. And also the t test result of 4.068 with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, this proving that the effectiveness of exposure to Instagram content (X2) has a positive effect on consumptive behavior. A very effective platform for consumptive behavior on @helwabasheel accounts is TikTok.

Abstract

Pada umumnya, teknologi, atau smartphone, telah menjadi bagian penting dari kehidupan seseorang. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan kesadaran, pengetahuan, dan keterampilan untuk tetap dapat menggunakan smartphone dengan cerdas untuk mengakses internet. Namun, penggunaan smartphone secara berlebihan di dalam keluarga sering terjadi dan berdampak pada berbagai aspek kehidupan. Menteri komunikasi dan informatika (menkominfo) Rudiantara meminta orangtua, remaja, dan anak-anak untuk membatasi penggunaan smartphone. Dalam menghindari smartphone ada cara-cara yang tepat, agar kita dapat terhindar dari bermamin smartphone yang berlebihan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi mahasiswa yang terhadap berlebihhan bermain smartphone. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Penelitian ini dilakakukan oleh seluruh mahasiswa yang ada di sumatera utara. Penelitian ini melibatkan 36 mahasiswa dari Sumatera Utara. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan alat angket yang menggunakan likert. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar angket persepsi mahasiwa/i, dan metode deskriptif digunakan untuk menganalisisnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 93% dari sepuluh pertanyaan dalam lembar angket siswa memenuhi kriteria yang sangat baik.

Abstract

This research analyzes the impact of TikTok use on teenagers' mental well-being, explores effective marketing strategies, and identifies factors that contribute to viral content. The focus is on TikTok user behavior among UINSU Communication Studies students, emphasizing content preferences, optimal posting times, and general engagement. Quantitative survey methods were used to collect data from a representative sample of students. Findings show TikTok as an important phenomenon with great influence from influencers, although its impact on communication skills varies. Additionally, TikTok shows potential as a learning tool but requires integration with traditional learning methods to ensure content quality and ethical awareness in its use. This research provides important insights for developing communication strategies and educational approaches at UINSU.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginformasikan kepada para pembaca bahwa media sosial bukan sebagai media hiburan saja, tetapi mampu sebagai media edukasi dan aktivisme dalam dunia yang sudah terglobalisasi dari cara tradisional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif, dengan cara yaitu pengukuran kepuasan pengguna secara statistik yang mengacu pada jawaban angket penelitian yang diisi oleh remaja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase rata-rata tanggapan remaja terhadap interaksi sosial adalah 67,1% dalam kategori setuju. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa media sosial sangat berpengaruh terhadap interaksi sosial. Data lain mengungkapkan bahwa 98,1 % remaja menggunakan aplikasi Instagram dan 92,1% remaja menggunakan aplikasi TikTok.

Abstract

The study focuses on the impact of educational disparities on the mindset of high school students and students in Indonesia. In this study, the analysis uses quantitative data from TikTok trends in Indonesia to understand how education disparities affect the way students think between high school and students. Studies show that educational gaps have a significant impact on the mindset of both high school students and students. High school students who have good access to education have a more positive mindset and are better prepared to adapt to change, while students with better access to school have more critical mindsets and are more ready to think analytically. The results of this research have important implications for educational policy in Indonesia, as well as to raise public awareness of the importance of educational equality in improving the thinking ability of students.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of TikTok @buiramira content on the ease of UINSU final semester students in completing their final projects. "Student convenience" is measured through respondents' perception of the ease of finding information, understanding the material, and applying tips from @buiramira content. Using a quantitative method with a questionnaire distributed to 50 UINSU Communication Science students (based on the calculation of the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 10%), the data was analyzed using simple linear regression, correlation, determination, and T test. The results showed a significant influence of @buiramira content on student convenience (p < 0.05) with a contribution of 46.4%. This study concludes that educational content on TikTok can be a useful source of information for students in completing their final projects, and highlights the importance of clear, accurate, and easy-to-understand conten.

Abstract

Real Work Lectures (KKN) are a forum for the application and development of science and technology, which are carried out outside the campus within certain time, work mechanisms, and requirements. During this Covid-19 pandemic, we are expected to be motivators and facilitators of development efforts and even education, especially in rural area. The community can share existing problems and find solutions with the participation of KKN participants, cooperation is established in the education process to create a Qur'ani generation. The goals expected in this activity are: a) Kota Tengah village children have the ability and understanding of the Koran; b) more deeply in the sciences of tajwid and makhraj in learning the Koran; c) Knowing the laws of reading in the Koran so as to minimize errors in reading. The method used in the implementation of KKN is the PAR method. This method is an action research activity as a result of the research process, namely research that begins with planning, carrying out an action or action, and evaluating the results of the action. The research process is an act of understanding and changing social practice and involving practitioners in the stages of research. Some of the results that will be achieved in this KKN activity are the creation of Qurani generation children who understand the laws of reading, recitation, and makhraj in the Koran in Kota Tengah Village.
