Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly widespread and is being applied in various aspects of modern life. The use of AI requires moral awareness and a critical mindset to ensure that users are not easily influenced by information from unclear or unverifiable sources. This study aims to analyze the kalam nahy in the Qur’an, Surah Al-Isra’ verse 36, and examine its relevance to the ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) usage. This type of research uses a qualitative approach, specifically a literature review (library research) with a descriptive analysis method. The findings indicate that Surah Al-Isra’ verse 36 prohibits following something without a clear and valid basis of knowledge. This verse emphasizes the importance of tabayyun, caution, and responsibility in receiving and disseminating information. In the context of AI use, these values can serve as ethical guidelines to ensure that technology is used wisely, critically, and in accordance with Islamic moral principles.

Abstract

This study departs from the fact that the Qur’an not only conveys theological and legal teachings, but also demonstrates rhetorical beauty through various linguistic styles, particularly ījāz (concise expression) and iṭnāb (elaborative expression). The different use of these two styles in verses with similar themes indicates a contextual and meaningful linguistic strategy. This research aims to analyze the forms, rhetorical functions, and wisdom behind the use of ījāz and iṭnāb in verses sharing thematic similarities, especially in QS. Al-Baqarah verses 120 and 145, as well as QS. Ar-Ra‘d verse 37. This study employs a qualitative method based on library research with a descriptive-analytical approach. The primary data consist of the selected Qur’anic verses, while the secondary data are obtained from classical tafsir works and balāghah literature. The analysis is conducted through the perspective of ‘ilm al-ma‘ānī by considering aspects of context (siyāq) and communicative situation (maqām). The findings reveal that ījāz and iṭnāb are employed proportionally according to contextual demands. QS. Ar-Ra‘d verse 37 tends to employ ījāz due to its concise context, whereas QS. Al-Baqarah verses 120 and 145 utilize iṭnāb to reinforce emphatic meaning. The differences in diction reflect profound rhetorical precision. The implications of this study affirm that the linguistic beauty of the Qur’an is not merely aesthetic, but also functional and contextual in conveying meaning effectively.

Abstract

Islamic character education faces significant challenges in integrating religious values with practical life skills, particularly in cultivating students’ work ethics. Educational practices often emphasize cognitive achievement and ritual observance, while the role of work as an expression of faith receives limited conceptual attention. This article aims to analyze the concept of Qur’anic work ethic as a foundation for Islamic character education through a conceptual study of Q.S. at-Taubah [9]:105. This study employs a qualitative approach with library research as its research design. The data are analyzed through a conceptual reading of Qur’anic verses and relevant Islamic literature to formulate the principles of Qur’anic work ethics. The findings reveal that work in the Qur’anic perspective is not merely an economic activity, but a meaningful action that integrates faith, moral responsibility, and social accountability. These findings indicate that work can function as a pedagogical medium in Islamic character education to develop integrity, responsibility, and spiritual awareness. This study contributes to strengthening the conceptual framework of Qur’an-based Islamic character education in response to contemporary educational challenges

Abstract

Abstract

This paper examines the authenticity of the mushaf utsmani by highlighting three main aspects: the historical process of the Uthmanic codification, the evidences supporting its authenticity, and the views of Orientalists along with the Muslim scholarly rebuttals concerning the Uthmanic mushaf. The background of this research stems from the increasing modern critiques of the Qur’an’s textual authenticity, which necessitate a comprehensive re-examination. This research employs a historical approach and Qur’anic sciences through a qualitative–descriptive library research method, critically analyzing primary and secondary sources related to the history of the Uthmanic codification process.. The findings indicate that the authenticity of the Uthmanic mushaf can be demonstrated by tracing the historical stages of codification from the time of the Prophet, Abu Bakr, and finally ‘Uthman. Its authenticity is further reinforced by three fundamental pillars: the consensus (ijmāʿ) of the Companions, the consistency of the Uthmanic script (rasm), and the mutawātir recitations transmitted directly from the Prophet. The discussion also includes the critiques of Orientalists and the Muslim scholarly responses that academically affirm the integrity and genuineness of the text. This study concludes that the Uthmanic mushaf possesses strong historical and methodological foundations, and therefore remains the authentic and authoritative reference of the Qur’an to this day.  Keywords:  Authenticity of the Mushaf Utsmani, History of Codification, Orientalist Critique

Abstract

This study analyzes the historical background of Quranic recitation unification during the reign of Caliph Uthmān bin ‘Affān and its significant impact on textual preservation. The expansion of Islamic territory led to various dialectal differences (sab’atu ahruf) that potentially caused communal division among Muslims. Utilizing a library research method with a historical-analytical approach, this study finds that the unification initiated by Uthmān was not merely an administrative policy but a crucial socio-religious strategy to maintain the authenticity of the revelation. The results indicate that the standardization into the Uṡmānic Mushaf successfully prevented textual alterations and provided a definitive legal framework for the science of Qira'at in subsequent periods. Consequently, this unification ensured the stability of Quranic transmission across generations and regions.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Qur’anic revelation represents a multidimensional process encompassing theological, cosmological, and communicative-historical aspects. This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the stages of revelation, the angelic mediation involved, and the various modes through which the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ received divine messages, including the concept of sab‘ah aḥruf (seven modes). Using a qualitative method with a library research approach and descriptive-analytical analysis, this paper examines both classical and contemporary sources such as al-Suyūṭī, al-Zarqānī, and Manna‘ al-Qaṭṭān. The findings reveal three main stages of revelation: its inscription in the Lauḥ al-Maḥfūẓ (Preserved Tablet), its descent to Bayt al-‘Izzah, and its gradual transmission to the Prophet through the Angel Jibrīl over 23 years. The Prophet experienced revelation in diverse forms—true dreams, divine inspiration to the heart, sounds resembling ringing bells, the angel’s appearance in human form, and direct communication with God. Furthermore, the concept of sab‘ah aḥruf illustrates the linguistic flexibility of the Qur’an, providing ease for diverse Arab dialects. This research concludes that revelation is not merely a vertical transmission of divine text but a structured divine-human communication process, enriching contemporary Qur’anic studies.

Abstract

This study departs from the issue of how the Qur’an conveys warnings about environmental destruction through linguistic structures containing rhetorical meanings. This research examines kalam khabar in sūrah al-Rūm/30:41 by emphasizing the form of khabar and the ecological messages contained within the verse. The study aims to reveal the function of kalam khabar in the verse while explaining its relevance to human awareness in preserving the environment. The method used is qualitative research with a library research approach through kalam khabar analysis and lexical analysis of sūrah al-Rūm/30:41. The findings show that the expression ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ belongs to the category of khabar ibtidā’i because it is delivered without emphatic elements (taukid), indicating that the information is directed toward an audience in a neutral condition (khālī al-dzihn). The verse also emphasizes that environmental destruction on land and sea is caused by human actions, thereby containing moral and ecological messages that encourage humanity to maintain the balance of nature. Thus, sūrah al-Rūm/30:41 not only conveys factual information about environmental destruction, but also presents a warning message that strengthens human responsibility toward nature. This study contributes to enriching Qur’anic linguistic studies, particularly regarding the analysis of kalam khabar in sūrah al-Rūm/30:41 and its relevance to environmental destruction issues.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the internal consistency of the Qur’an as an essential aspect of its miraculous nature (i‘j?z al-Qur’?n). As a revealed text delivered gradually over more than two decades, the Qur’an presents a unique phenomenon characterized by coherence and the absence of internal contradictions. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, along with thematic (maudh?‘?) analysis of relevant Qur’anic verses. The findings indicate that the consistency of the Qur’an can be observed in several key dimensions, including linguistic, thematic, normative, and narrative aspects. Furthermore, this study finds that claims of inconsistency raised in certain orientalist studies often stem from partial readings and methodological limitations that overlook the distinctive nature of the Qur’an as a revealed text. Therefore, the internal consistency of the Qur’an not only reinforces the theological argument of its divine origin but also represents an epistemological phenomenon reflecting the coherence and unity of its meaning system.
