Abstract

The aim of this study was: (1) to develop an appropriate circuit training program for biomotor improvement that supports Teng Kong Bai Lian (TKBL), (2) to examine the feasibility of biomotor improvement that supports TKBL, and (3) to examine training program effectivity. This study is a kind of Research and Development through several procedures, such as observation and data collection, planning, program development, expert validation, initial program revision, small scale trial, large scale trial, operational program revision, effectivity test, and completion program, and training program implementation. Instrument of this study consist of observation, questionnaire for expert validation, test and measurement biomotor including (1) t-test for measuring speed and agility, (2) leg dynamometer for leg strength, (3) vertical jump for leg power, (4) curl-up test for core strength, (5) modified bass test of dynamic balance for measuring dynamic balance. The results of the collected data will be analyzed using Aiken for expert validation, and small and large-scale trials, while the paired sample t-test with SPSS is used to analyze the effectiveness test. Expert validation, small-scale trial, and large-scale trial were analyzed using the Aiken method with Aiken table value, whereas the effectivity test was analyzed using paired sample t-test on the SPSS application. The result showed that expert validation for the training program was obtained above 0.80 Aiken value for all test items. The results of the effectiveness test showed a significant effect on increasing the biomotor component of leg muscle strength, core strength, leg muscle explosive power, speed and agility with a P value of 0.000, but the effect was not significant on the balance component where the P value was 0.840. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the ciccuit training program can effectively increase leg muscle strength, core strength, leg muscle explosive power, speed and agility, but does not improve balance. So this training program can be applied to Wushu Taolu athletes to improve their biomotor abilities to support the TKBL movement. Keywords: Wushu, circuit training program, strength, core strength, power, speed, agility, balance

Abstract

Background: Big Data Analytics (BDA) is urgently needed in Indonesian sports to improve evidence-based decision-making, athlete development, and organizational management. While BDA has transformed global sports through data-driven insights, its application in Indonesia remains limited and fragmented. The absence of integrated analytics between athlete performance and organizational quality management hinders the creation of sustainable, long-term development systems. Aims: This study investigates how BDA can enhance athlete development and organizational management by analyzing multidimensional data from athletes, coaches, referees, and sports infrastructures. It also aims to identify dominant predictors of athlete performance across various sports and to evaluate the quality management practices of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (NSCI). Methods: A mixed-methods sequential explanatory design was applied. The quantitative phase involved 67 athletes from six sports: football, table tennis, weightlifting, pencak silat, basketball, and karate at the Sport Training Center. Data on anthropometry, fitness, and achievements were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Chi-Square, and regression tests. The qualitative phase involved interviews and observations with 8–12 stakeholders, while organizational quality was assessed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. Result: Results revealed significant performance differences among sports (F = 4.927, p = 0.001). Each sport had unique dominant predictors: VO₂ max and anthropometry (soccer), agility (table tennis), muscle strength (weightlifting), endurance and height (basketball), and speed (karate). NSCI’s organizational analysis showed substantial deficiencies in management, facilities, and procedures (p < 0.001). Conclusion: This study confirms that BDA is crucial in advancing sustainable sports development. By identifying sport-specific performance predictors and systemic weaknesses, BDA provides a scientific foundation for designing targeted training, improving organizational quality, and building adaptive, data-driven sports ecosystems in Indonesia. The findings highlight the urgent need for national sports bodies to institutionalize BDA as part of long-term strategic planning.

Abstract

Seeking the truth is a human trait in life. The ultimate truth can be proven in the way of thinking or the human method itself. The methods used by humans in seeking the truth are philosophy and science. This article aims to discuss the relationship between philosophy and science. The method used by researchers in this study is a literature review approach or library research. Philosophy is a method used to obtain the truth by thinking continuously so as to find the ultimate truth. The truth that philosophy produces is deeply reflective. While science is part of knowledge that aims to find the truth through scientific procedures. The truth produced by science consists of the developmental values of knowledge which can change over time. Philosophy and science itself are closely related. This can be seen from the similarity of using reflective thinking to find a truth even though it has its own way. But also has a difference that is seen from the formal object. Which is where philosophy seeks information in depth while science seeks the deepest cause.

Abstract

Youth soccer talent identification programs are foundational to long-term athlete development, yet systematic empirical scrutiny of regional programs in developing countries remains limited. To address this, a preliminary analysis was conducted using a descriptive mixed-methods design, drawing on field observation, official athlete registry documents, quarterly physical condition reports, and competition records from 18 active male athletes aged 15–17 years. A complete absence of Q3-born athletes (July–September) was confirmed statistically significant via binomial test (p = .006, w = .577), suggestive of maturational bias consistent with the Relative Age Effect. While explosive power improved consistently across all position groups, aerobic capacity (VO2Max) remained largely stagnant throughout the monitoring period. Beyond physical development, technical assessment relied predominantly on subjective coach evaluation without standardized instruments, limiting the objectivity of talent identification decisions. These gaps across selection methodology, aerobic development, and assessment objectivity collectively justify a full-scale CIPP evaluation, which should employ structured interviews, validated questionnaires, and direct observation across all four CIPP components to generate evidence-based program improvement recommendations.
