Abstract

This study emphasizes the importance of focusing on the sustainability and alignment of Sharia compliance disclosures in the context of Islamic Financial Institutions. Sustainability reporting is becoming increasingly crucial in the financial sector due to growing awareness of global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. The initiative encourages Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) to increase transparency and accountability in their sustainability practices. This study tries explicitly to compare the Sustainability Report Analysis between Bank Syariah Indonesia and Maybank Islamic Berhad for 2019-2022. In this way, the study provides a deeper understanding of how these two institutions manage sustainability and disclosure of Sharia compliance. By aligning Sharia compliance with sustainability goals, IFIS can actively create a more responsible and ethical financial sector. This will contribute to broader sustainable development efforts, including sustainable economic growth, environmental protection, and Social Empowerment. This kind of research is essential to ensure that IFIs and other financial institutions understand and adhere to sustainability and Sharia compliance in a balanced manner to balance financial, ethical, and sustainability goals in their services to society.

Abstract

Introduction: The length of stay of tourists is a very critical issue in the tourism and hospitality industries, including in the halal tourism sector. So, this study aims to find out and test the factors that affect the length of stay of Muslim tourists when traveling in halal tourism destinations by integrating Islamic attributes with push-pull motivation mediated by satisfaction. Method: The method used in this study is quantitative using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis. The population of this study is Muslim tourists who visit halal tourism destinations in Lombok with a sample of 171 respondents. Results: Islamic attributes such as Islamic facilities, alcohol and gambling-free, and Islamic morality have a direct effect on length of stay, while halalness affects the length of stay mediated by satisfaction. Push and pull motivations have a positive effect on the length of stay. Finally, the length of stay is also affected by satisfaction. Conclusion and suggestion: Islamic attributes and motivation as well as satisfaction greatly affect the length of stay of Muslim tourists when traveling at halal tourism destinations. The findings of this study are very important and can serve as a crucial guide for businesses and governments to present the various needs and attributes of Muslim tourists so that they feel satisfied and willing to stay longer in halal tourism destinations.

Abstract

Introduction: This study investigates the factors, particularly those related to banks and macroeconomics, that influence the stability of 38 Islamic banks in Southeast Asian countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) based on annual data from 2013 to 2020. The study aims to identify key determinants of stability across distinct regions and highlight the significance of these determinants in maintaining financial stability in Islamic banks. Methods: Using a quantitative approach with panel regression analysis, this study examines various factors influencing Islamic bank stability in Indonesia, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Specific factors considered include Assets, Non-Performing Financing (NPF), Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and Return on Assets (ROA). Results: The findings reveal that in Indonesia, Assets, NPF, and GDP are significant factors influencing bank stability. In Malaysia, ROA, Assets, and GDP are significant, whereas in the United Arab Emirates, only ROA is significant, and in Qatar, only Assets are significant. Conclusion and suggestion: Islamic banks should pay attention to the Z-Score from previous periods and manage assets and liabilities effectively to ensure stability. Effective macroprudential supervision is also necessary to enhance resilience in the financial system. Maintaining asset quality is essential for mitigating risks to banking stability.

Abstract

Digital technology is key to increasing donor intentions to contribute to Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS). This study identified the factors influencing and dominating donors in making digital payments for ZIS. Combining UTAUT 2 and the initial trust model, this study analyzed data from an online survey involving 103 donors from various provinces in Indonesia. The study includes donors who have paid or intend to pay the ZIS digitally. The results of the analysis using the partial least squares structural equation model (PLS-SEM) indicated that performance expectancy had no significant effect on initial trust and behavioral intention. Likewise, facilitating conditions did not significantly affect initial trust. On the other hand, hedonic motivation positively and significantly affects initial trust and behavioral intention, while initial trust affects behavioral intention. This study suggests that zakat institutions must ensure that their systems offer user satisfaction, initial trust, and facilitating conditions, such as reliable networks and security.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors influencing consumer behavioral intentions in using digital applications to visit halal tourist attractions using the UTAUT2 model approach. PLS-SEM was employed as the quantitative research method's evaluation model. 300 respondents, ranging in age from 17 to 65, were utilized as the sample. Using a Likert scale from 1 to 5, a scale generated from earlier research is used to measure each variable. The study's findings revealed that five UTAUT2 indicators”performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, pricing value, and habit”positively influenced consumers' inclinations to use digital applications to visit halal tourism locations. Based on the IPMA test, the performance expectancy variable is the variable that has the highest level of importance. The results of this study can be used by halal tourism business actors and the government as a digital application strategy development to support the growth of halal tourism in East Java.

Abstract

Investors and policymakers in Islamic financial markets are expected to comprehend variables impacting the performance of Standard and Poor (S and P)/Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) COMCEC 50 Islamic Stock Index. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the effects of S&P/OIC COMCEC 50 Islamic Stock Index on inflation, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil prices, United States Economic Policy Uncertainty (US EPU), and geopolitical risk (GPR). Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model is used in the quantitative monthly data analysis spanning 2019-2023. The analysis estimates the adjustment rate toward long-term equilibrium using Error Correction Term (ECT). Furthermore, the short and long term links between global variables and S&P/OIC COMCEC 50 Index are analyzed. The results show that Islamic stock index benefits greatly from WTI oil prices over the long and short terms. Even though inflation and US EPU have no direct effects on the index, GPR shows a strong positive influence over the periods. However, the considerable ECT coefficient points to a quick adjustment process toward long-term equilibrium after external shocks. The significance of oil prices and geopolitical dynamics as major drivers of changes in Islamic financial markets is supported even though US EPU and worldwide inflation have a less significant effect. Based on the description, this research aimed to offer strategic recommendations for Islamic financial markets’ external risk management. Future research should incorporate other macroeconomic factors such as exchange rates, Islamic interest rates, and fiscal stability to understand the durability of Islamic financial index.
