Abstract

The implementation of cultural literacy in elementary schools still tends to be content-centric and has not been systematically integrated into digital instructional design, particularly in the context of Dayak culture in Central Kalimantan. This study aims to develop a Mahilung Mobile Learning instructional design based on the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) as an ethno-edugames framework in strengthening Dayak cultural literacy in elementary school students. The study uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a mixed-methods design. The definition stage includes needs analysis, student characteristics, and curriculum review to identify Dayak cultural values relevant to Theme 8 "Our Friendly Environment." The design stage includes mapping cultural values into learning objectives, game mechanics, and assessment components. The development stage is carried out through the development of an Android-based application prototype that can be accessed offline, equipped with interactive audio-visual materials, exercises, and ten mini-games based on true-false validation with a scoring system as part of the gamification strategy. Expert validation and limited trials were conducted to refine the design. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically, while quantitative data were analyzed using Likert scores to assess feasibility and user response. The results of the study produced a processual ethno-edugames design framework that structurally integrates Dayak cultural values into digital game-based learning. This research contributes to the development of a contextual, adaptive, and applicable culture-based instructional design model in primary education.

Abstract

Bukit Liti Village, located in Kahayan Tengah District, Pulang Pisau Regency, is one of the villages that continues to grow through various facility improvements and empowerment-oriented development programs aimed at enhancing community welfare. Amidst this development enthusiasm, the enhancement of political participation and legal awareness among youth and members of Karang Taruna remains a component that has not received adequate attention as part of the village?s development agenda. In fact, political participation and legal awareness are two essential aspects that significantly influence the success of village development. This study employs a participatory qualitative approach with an action research method, involving in-depth interviews and direct observations with Karang Taruna administrators, village officials, and local youth. The findings reveal that the alignment between the village government and Karang Taruna leadership serves as a key factor in ensuring the successful implementation of programs and activities aligned with the strategic vision of village development. Furthermore, the strategic approaches adopted by Karang Taruna?namely the humanistic approach, socio-cultural approach, and participatory approach?have become the primary factors in fostering political participation and legal awareness among the younger generation in the village.

Abstract

Death traditions among the Dayak Maanyan community possess strong social and cultural significance, one of which is manifested through pangandrau behavior. Pangandrau represents a form of social involvement by the community in the sequence of death rituals, reflecting the values of mutual cooperation, solidarity, and respect for the spirits of the deceased. This study aims to analyze the pangandrau behavior of the Dayak Maanyan tribe in death-related activities in Sei Paken Village, South Barito Regency. The research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of traditional leaders, bereaved families, and community members directly involved in the implementation of pangandrau. The findings indicate that pangandrau behavior functions not only as a form of labor and material assistance but also as a medium for the transmission of cultural values, the strengthening of social relationships, and an expression of the community’s moral responsibility. Pangandrau serves as a symbol of social solidarity that continues to persist despite undergoing adaptations in response to contemporary developments.

Abstract

Social media plays a major role in shaping public opinion, including within the campus environment, which serves as a space for academic and social interaction among students. The phenomenon of trial by netizen with the slogan “no viral, no justice” indicates a tendency among students to respond to an issue based on the virality of content on social media rather than through appropriate clarification mechanisms. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media on the formation of public opinion in the campus environment among Informatics Engineering students and to measure the extent to which this phenomenon influences their perceptions and attitudes. The research was conducted using a mixed-methods approach with survey and interview techniques. Data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires to 100 student respondents and in-depth interviews with 10 student informants from the Informatics Engineering Study Program at two higher education institutions in Palangka Raya, namely the University of Palangka Raya (UPR) and STMIK Palangka Raya. The research variables include the intensity of social media use, the level of exposure to viral content, trust in digital information, and the tendency to form opinions based on viral issues. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods and followed by regression analysis to examine the relationships and effects among the research variables. The results show that the intensity of social media use and the level of exposure to viral content have a significant influence on the formation of students’ public opinion. The majority of respondents (72%) stated that viral issues are considered more important than non-viral ones, and 64% of respondents admitted that they had been influenced by netizen opinions when responding to a campus-related issue. These findings indicate that the phenomenon of trial by netizen has shaped students’ mindsets and behaviors in making judgments about a case, potentially creating digital social pressure on campus institutions. Based on the data obtained, this study concludes that social media has a strong impact on shaping students’ public opinion through the speed of information dissemination, emotionally driven digital interactions, and social pressure arising from the dynamics of virality. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy, media ethics, and guidelines for handling viral issues within the campus environment is necessary to prevent the formation of biased opinions that are not based on facts.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze students' views on the potential of digital games as a learning medium and the opportunities to use them to build ecological awareness in support of sustainable development. This study used a quantitative approach involving 196 high school students in Palangka Raya City. The results of the study show that 51 percent of students are interested in game-based learning, 73.5 percent of students say that games can be used as a means of delivering material, 77.6 percent of students have learned using games both formally and informally, and 87.8 percent of students are willing to try educational games for learning in the future. The use of digital games as a learning medium for Pancasila and citizenship education can shape students' ecological awareness in the context of sustainable development. Obstacles to implementing digital games as a learning medium to shape ecological awareness include low levels of teachers' digital literacy, limited school infrastructure, and limited availability of environment-based educational games.

Abstract

This study evaluates the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated comics as an instructional medium for assessing students’ literacy skills and their understanding of Indonesian local wisdom values. In the context of increasing educational digitalisation, this research explores how AI-generated comics can be integrated into culturally oriented learning. The study employed a mixed-methods design involving 450 students from 15 schools across seven provinces in Indonesia. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, student response questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and participatory observations. The findings show a significant improvement (p < 0.05) in students’ performance after using AI-generated comics, with average increases of 32% in literacy scores and 28% in students’ understanding of local wisdom. Qualitative analyses indicate that students responded positively to the interactive comic format, which provided personalised content aligned with their preferences and learning needs. Overall, the results demonstrate that AI-generated comics can serve as an effective instructional tool for integrating digital technology with culturally relevant learning materials, offering implications for curriculum development and instructional practices in Indonesia.
