Abstract

Children are the most vulnerable groups affected by ARI. And in Soposurung the number of children are affected by ARI is increase every year.The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between nutritional status and immunization status with acute incidence of respiratory infection in infants, to analyze the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding, vitamin A with ARI in infants in Soposurung Public Health 2014.   This type of research is an observational cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was a toddler as many as 61 people (15 children is ARI and 46 children are not ARI) are taken by using ProbabilitySampling types Alocated Proportional Sampling.   The data were analyzed using Chi-Square statistical test with CI = 95% (α = 0.05), which indicates that there is no significant relationship between nutritional status (W/ A, H/ A and W / H) with ARI in infants (ρ = 0.642; ρ = 0.177 and ρ = 0.377). There is also no significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and nutritional status (W / A) ρ = 0.641; nutritional status (H/ A) ρ = 0.693 and for the nutritional status (W/ H) ρ = 0.192. There is a significant association between vitamin A nutritional status (H/ A) ρ = 0.044 and nutritional status (W/ H) ρ = 0.037. However, there is no significant relationship between immunization status with ARI in infants ρ = 0.404.   From this study suggested improving the nutritional status can be improved further, socialization importance of exclusive breastfeeding in infants and setting a good diet early in toddlers.   Keywords: Nutritional status, immunization status, exclusive breastfeeding, vitamine A, Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI)

Abstract

Anemia of pregnant women in Desa Naga Timbul is the effect of iron deficiency that relates with protein intake. There are some factors that affect anemia they are the less of protein intake, iron deficiency, lack of vitamin C, and absorption nuisance of intestine. Iron absorption is affected by some factors such as animal protein and vitamin C.   The research is conducted in cross sectional design. The sample is 40 pregnant women. The objective of study is to find the relationship between protein intake and iron intake with anemia status of pregnant women in Desa Naga Timbul Kecamatan Tanjung Morawa Kabupaten Deli Serdang in 2014. The hemoglobin measurement is done by using Cyanmethemoglobin method and by using Spektrofotometer. Protein intake and iron intake are measured by food recall method in 24 hours twice in different days.. The relationship between protein intake and iron intake with anemia status is analyzed by Chi Square test.   The result of the research shows that the less of protein intake category is 60.0 %, iron deficiency category is 72.5% and anemia is 55%. It shows that there is a significant relationship between protein intake and anemia status of pregnant women. The relationship between iron intake and anemia status of pregnant women is also significant.   Based on the research, the pregnant women are expected to set up their time of eating better, to mull over the kinds of food that they consume and the nutrients of their foods in order to fulfill their needs of nutrients. In order to fulfill their needs of protein and iron, the families are expected to use their house environment for instance raise chicken and fish, plant vegetable around their house.     Keywords: Protein intake, Nutritional anemia, Pregnant women

Abstract

The excessive sodium intake can increase the blood pressure. Intake sodium will be directly absorbed into blood vessels. This causes sodium level in the blood increases. Sodium has water holding trait, that cause the blood volume increase. Consuming of high sodium continuously causes hypertension. The purpose of this study is to know the relationship of sodium intake with hypertension in UPT Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Binjai years 2014. Types of research using a cross-sectional study design. Total population as many as 180 of elderly and uses as a sample 0f 63 elderly. The sampling technique with purposive sampling. Measurements on the incidence of hypertension using a sphygmomanometer is done by nurses. The collecting of data on food consumption of the elderly in panti werdha obtained by food weighing and recording food from outside the panti werdha using a recall. The content of sodium in diet was analyzes using software nutrisurvey. The relationship of sodium intake with the occurrence of hypertension was analyzed by Chi-square test. The results of this study show that sodium intake into more sufficient category (66.7%) did not suffer hypertension and sodium intake into over category (70%) suffer hypertension, and obtained p=0,005 means there is significant relationship between sodium intake with the occurrence of hypertension in the elderly in UPT Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Binjai years 2014. From the results of this research suggested nutritionist to more better maintain and supervise the food consumed elderly. It suggested for elderly to limit salt intake and reducing the sodium content of foods high in order to keep blood pressure normal. Keywords: Sodium Intake, Hypertension, Elderly

Abstract

Children under five yearsare group of society that very unstable from nutrition problem. They have a very fast Growth and development in this period so need enough and gratify food and nutrition supply. If malnutrition happens and even severe malnutrition can cause permanent growth and development disturbance physically, mentally, socially, and intelligently that will be brought until adult. If this problem ignored, the worst probability in the next 30 years is lost generation where decreasing human quality in many aspects and will influence productifity so when productifity is low the result is low also. So, to create a better Human Resources quality must begin early that is watch out nutrition status of children of five. This research is observational method by using secunder data from Health center of Pekan Labuhan to learn correlation of Supplementary Feeding Program of Recovery with body weight improvement ofchildren under five that severe malnutrition.According to researched variables, known that there was different body weight of children under five before and after receiving Supplementary Feeding Program of Recovery in Health centre of Pekan Labuhan where all children under five years undergo improvement body weight.During follow Supplementary Feeding Program of Recovery process suggested always given socialitation inorder mothers watch out energy intake of children under five and make sure that they complete PMT-P. Abstract

The cadres failure in the implementation of health center activities to monitor the growth of children under five will result in the wrong conclusion which will give incorrect information and precaution. Therefore, an analyze is required to determine the behavior of cadres in monitoring the growth of children under five  in Mandala health center in sub district Medan Tembung. This research is a descriptive cross sectional design research carried out in September 2013 to December 2014. The population in this study were all cadres in 39 integreted health posts in working area of public health center Mandala district of Medan Tembung that is 159 people. The sample in this study were 100 people who is obtained using cluster sampling. Existing data will be analyzed descriptively and presented in form of a frequency distribution table. The result of this research showed that 51,0% cadres aged < 37 years old; 61,0% of cadres education is primary education (Primary Junior High School); 90,0% has becomed cadres for > 2 years; unemployed caders is 83,0%; and the most frequent task is the registration (41,0%). Cadre behaviour in implementation of children under five year growth monitoring, 49,0% of cadre has good knowledge, but only 14,0% cadre has good manner and only 3,0% cadre with good action. It is suggested for the clinic to give education to the cadres in growth monitoring of children under five and to provide training such as plotting training, weighting children under five and calculating ages periodacally to the cadres. Abstract

Breakfast is important activity to start activity every morning and purpose to increase of learning concentration and physical ability of school children. This purpose of study was to know model of breakfast consumption of students in SDN 060921 Kecamatan Medan Sunggal year 2015. This study is a survey research with cross sectional approach. This study population is all grades 5 and 6 of the academic year 2014/2015 SDN 060921 Kecamatan Medan Sunggal. Sampling tecnique used was total sampling with a sample obtained as many as 74 people. Means of collecting data used are questionnaires. The study conducted in April until July 2015. The result of the study showed that students of SDN 060921 Kecamatan Medan Sunggal have frequency of breakfast everyday (41.9%), students eat rice and chicken for breakfast (20.3%) and students drink tea for breakfast (50%).  Most of students have breakfast contribution of adequate nutrition energy (59.5%), protein (59.5%) and vitamin A (55.4) with enough categories. Meanwhile contribution of vitamin C (75.7%), iron (62.2%) and calcium (85.1%) most of students have adequate nutrition with less categories. Breakfast models students based on frequency was good, but adequate nutrition breakfast of most student not quite good. Recommended for principal increase knowledge about breakfast and students parent help breakfast habits everyday with selection menu and nutrition value of breakfast based on needed. Abstract

Mother and children under five group of people who are sensitive to issues of food available. Desa Trans Pirnak Marenu including food insecure areas with population worked as farmers manyoritas. The objective of this  study is to determine the existence supply of food  and nutritional status on those head of household as  smoker family at Desa Trans Pirnak Marenu. This study is a survey research with cross sectional approach. . Population involved those smoking members having children under five years. As primary data, collected with questionnaire consisting of available foods, and smoker family in the village of Trans Pirnak Marenu then analyzed descriptively and presented in the form of cross-tabulation and frequency distribution table. The results  showed levels of food availability by cigarette spending most (78.9%) of food insecurity with hunger as much as 21.2% mild, moderate hunger as much as 32.7%, and the rate of severe hunger as much as 25.0%. Spending smaller cigarette, food availability is assured as much as 27.6%, while expenditure cigarette, food availability is assured as much as 13.0%. and acute and chronic malnutrition is still common in families of smokers. In this research showed more correlation be encouraged in sector cross in order to provide them personally counseling, about health, and the dangerous of smoking, it shhould be enlarge promoted to all families having children under five years, this in order to improve consumption of nutritious and balanced food. Abstract

Food patterns of under five years old in poor families consume staple food such as rice, side dishes, vegetables and fruits are very limited. This study aimed to determine food patterns, nutrition adequacy and nutritional status of children in poor families. The research was a descriptive survey, cross-sectional design. Sample in this study consisted of 65 children taken from 196 children. Respondents in this study were mothers of children under five. Collecting data on family characteristics obtained through interviews using a questionnaire, toddler food consumption data obtained through food recall and food frequency data using scales weight toddlers underfoot and data using microtoise toddler height. The results showed that the diet of children under five according to the type of food consumed staple is rice, side dishes are consumed eggs, and tempeh, vegetables are often consumed are spinach, and fruits consumed is papaya. Generally good level of energy consumption by 53,8%, good protein consumption level of 100%, and the rate of consumption of good fats 46,2%. Nutritional status (BB/U) are good at 92,3%, nutritional status (TB/U) are normal at 66,2% and nutritional status (BB/TB) are normal at 92,3%. Suggestions of this study was to local health officials are expected to focus more on education, especially for mothers of children under five in improving nutrition in particular on the provision of food within the household level which is very important to support improved nutrition of children under five. Abstract

The pregnant woman with Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) will birth a baby with low birth weight and risk of sudden mortality in prenatal. This condition, more of mother will died due to blooding and it will increase the mortality rate of neonate and mother. The objective of this research is to study factors related to the chronic energy deficiency event for pregnant woman, and this research was conducted at Puskesmas Langsa Lama, Langsa city. This research is analytic survey with cross sectional design. Sample in this research is 68 pregnant women, with questioner instrument to showed relationship of CED with pregnant woman with interview. The result of this research indicates that there was a correlation between knowledge and chronic energy deficiency incident that 29 pregnant woman with sufficiency knowledge with CED is 17.2 % while 21 of pregnant woman with low knowledge with CED is 76.2 %, with chi-square test (0.001). there is a correlation between income and CED incident to pregnant woman that indicates of 48 pregnant woman with the sufficient income with CED is 25 % and of 20 pregnant woman with low income and with CED 65 % with chi-square test (0.001). in addition, there is a correlation between the antenatal care assessment and CED incident to the pregnant woman. Of 24 pregnant women with antenatal care assessment with CED is 0%, while without assessment and with CED 48.0 % with chi-square test (0.001). It hope that the health staff at Langsa Lama Puskesmas can provide input and depiction about health condition ion provide the health extension and service for good nutrition supply for pregnant woman. Abstract

Nutrition problem has been the main of health problem in Indonesia. In the globalization era, Indonesia faces a double nutrition problems, they are the problem of malnutrition and over nutrition. As a developing country, cases of malnutrition have long existed in Indonesia, but with diet changing, economic progress, and lack of nutritional knowledge has made the increasing number of overnutrition in Indonesia. In FKM USU, student having overnutrition because of diet, knowledge dan physical activity. The aim of the research was looking for the relation among knowledge, diet, physical activity, and overnutrition on students of FKM USU. The design of research used a cross sectional method for looking the relation knowledge, diet, and physical activity on the incidence of overnutrition students of the Public Health Faculty, University of North Sumatera. The population in this study is all students in semester 3 until 7 at FKM USU as many as 1978 people, with a sample of 108 people. Results of research by chi-square test showed that the variables diet consists of the types of food that seen from the completeness food and number of meals as seen from the adequacy of fat significantly to the incidence of obesity related and nutritional status, p = 0.001 <0.005 and physical activity with p = 0.001 <0.005. Factors related to the occurrence of nutrition in students of FKM USU  the diet that is the type of food which is viewed by the completeness and adequacy fat meal and physical activity. FKM is advisable for adding some lecture meterials and having some discussion about overnutrition to increase student warning about it. Keywords: Diet, Knowledge, Overnutrition, Physical Activity
