Abstract

Plain agar-agar can be fortified with antioxidants to supply the needs of antioxidants for people with Aloe vera leaf and South Africa leaf. They arevery rich in antioxidants, but the taste are bitter, so that the people are reluctant to consume them. The purpose of this research is to know the acceptance test of agar-agar with combination of Aloe vera leaf andSouth Africa leaf based on an analysis organoleptic including color, smell, taste and texture. This research is experimental research in manufacture of agar-agar with a combination of Aloe vera leaf and South Africa  leaf  with three comparisons, that are A1(90 gramsAloe vera leaf, 3 gramsSouth Africa leaf and 7 grams agar-agar powder), A2 (89 gramsAloe vera leaf, 4 gramsSouth Africa  leaf and 7 grams agar-agar powder),  and A3 (88 gramsAloe vera leaf, 5 gramsSouth Africa  leaf and 7 grams agar-agar powder). Panelists in this research are students of the Public Health Faculty in University of Sumatra Utara as many as 30 people by using hedonic test and are analyzed by Anova test. The research results showed A1 has produced the dark brown color, unique smell and sweet taste of palm sugar and pandan leaf and the texture is dense solid gel. In A2 has produced rather young brown color, unique smell is slightly and taste is medium of palm sugar and pandan leaf and the dense texture. In A3 has produced rather greenish young brown color, unique smell and sweet taste of palm sugar and slightly bitter from the unique of South Africa leaf and dense texture. Results of hedonic tests which is conducted is obtained the highest percentage, that is A1 with a 81.1% color, 93.3% smell, 88.9 % taste and 86.7% texture. Wherease, by Anova test is obtained F-count (0,62 color; 4,69 smell; 9,95 flavour ;0,16 textures), which means no significant difference of color and texture of every treatment, but there are significant difference of  the smell and flavor of every treatment. It can be concluded that the agar-agar with a combination of Aloe vera leaf and South Africa leaf in the treatment A1 is more preferred by the panelists. Abstract

Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) is the vines that serve as a source of provitamin A and antioxidants to the body. Tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus) is a freshwater fish that grow faster and have a high protein content. Both of these foodstuffs can be processed into food products one fish meatball that can provide and meet the nutritional needs the society. The purpose of this study was to determine the nutrient content and acceptance  of  fish meatballs with addition of pumpkin flour by oranoleptic analysis include color, flavor, taste and texture. This study was an experimental research making tilapia meatballs with a combination of pumpkin flour and tapioca flour with three treatment A1 (5%:10%), A2 (7,5%:7,5%) and A3 (10%:5%). Panelists in this study were students of Faculty of Public Health University of Sumatera Utara as many as 30 people and acceptance of test data were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis test. Organoleptic test research results obtained fish meatballs A2 preferably in terms of flavor, taste and texture, and fish balls A1 prefer from color. Based on analysis of Kruskal Wallis test with 95% confidence interval  is known that there is no difference in the effect of acceptance panelist for color, flavor, taste and texture on third treatment fish meatball. The result of the nutrient content of fish meatball A3 with the addition of 10 grams of pumpkin flour has protein 12,3gr, 290mg phosporus, 390,7mg calcium and 92,45 ppm betacaroten in 100 grams.This research recommended fish meatballs into a source of nutritious food on a toddler. Abstract

The attainment of human resources quality and competitivenesscan be achieved in a healthy society. Primary school age student are the future generation who can bring change to the nation. The new primary student requires an adjustment to school environment and food other than at home. The purpose of this study is to describe the prevalence of nutritional status thenew primary studentand student learning achievement in sub-district of Medan Selayang academic year 2016/2017. This research was a descriptive survey with cross-sectional design. The population was all new primary studentin sub-district of Medan Selayang academic year 2016/2017. The minimum sample as many as 128 students. Selected school were public elementary schools 066656 and 065011. The sampling method using a multi-stage randomsampling. The results showed that the new primary studentschool at 066656 students who have a Body Mass Index(BMI) by Age category of very underweight  and less learning achievement there is 28.6%, the normal category and less learning achievement there is 19.4%. Most students at 066656 who have a BMI by Age category of underweight and adequate learning achievement 71.4%. At school 065011 merely on students with BMI by Age normal categories that have less learning achievement there is 6.7%. Students with BMI by Age, very underweight with adequate learn achievement 75%, and excellent 25%. The nutritional status ofHeight by Agethe new primary studentat 066656 students who have Height by Age categories severe stunting and high who  has adequate learning achievement 100%. Students with Height by Age categorized stunting and less learning achievement respectively 50%. Students withHeight by Age at 065011 category of severe stunting and adequately learning achievement 100%. Stunting category and who has less learning achievement 8.3%, adequate 83,3%, and excellent 8.3%. The study descriptive in order that a healthy society, then every elementary school helped to control the role of community health centers new primary studentthrough the surveillance and the weighing and high school children to perform anthropometric measurements and do counseling through the school health. Abstract

School-age children are the group that can not be ignored in national development for school-age children, especially primary school children is the development resources. Lack of nutrients will cause malnutrition status. If there is no improvement in energy consumption and adequate protein, the body will eventually be susceptible to disease infection then this may affect the growth process of the child's height so that the child has a body that tend to be short. This study aims to determine the socioeconomic status of the family and child stunting and consumption patterns of normal elementary school children Naiposposbarat 2 157628 Sorkam Sub District of Tapanuli Tengah.            This research is a descriptive cross-sectional design. This research was conducted by calculating the adequacy of energy and protein, as well as the types of food from food consumption in children using a 24-hour food recall. Data collection is done by measuring the height of children as measured by tools microtoise, socioeconomic data interviews with questionnaires, and sheets FFQ.            The results showed in general, based on the child's height for age there are 58.3% of children are short-child category, 41.7% of children whose normal category. The adequacy of child stunting macro nutrients namely energy adequacy amounted to 61.2% classified as good, and the amount of protein of 59.2% belong to the deficit. Macro nutrient adequacy normal child that energy sufficiency 54.3% classified as good, and the amount of protein of 14.3% belong to the deficit. Most children have a mother Stunting secondary education as much as 57.1%. While a child whose height is normal to have a mother as much as 48.6% secondary education. But there are as many as 11.4% of children whose height is normal to have a mother who Bachelor (S1). In addition, as many as 59.2% stunting Children have a father working as a farmer, and have an income below the minimum wage as much as 89.8%.            Expected to families, especially mothers in order to provide a balanced nutritional intake so as to reduce the risk of stunting in children under five. In addition, the school suggested cooperation with attendant health centers to provide nutrition counseling school children as well as to the canteen to provide healthy snacks that contribute in adding to the nutrient intake of school children. Abstract

Nutrition is a process of organisms using food that is normally consumed through several processes to maintain the normal life, growth and function of the organs and generate energy. Consumption of good nutrition and enough is needed by someone, especially in children under five. Nutrition consumption will affect how the nutritional status of children under five. The fact that malnutrition is irreversible (can not recover). Malnutrition that occurs in this golden period can lead to infectious diseases that often occur in infants is diarrhea. The high incidence of diarrhea in infants is influenced by the lack of family knowledge, especially mothers in doing diarrhea treatment at home. This study was conducted to acknowledge the relationship between mother’s care pattern with the incident of diarrhea in children under fivein the Village of Sirandorung, North Rantau Sub District Labuhanbatu Regency. This study was an analytical descriptive research with cross sectional design. The data were obtained from direct interviews to mother covering the data of parenting (feeding, hygiene and environmental sanitation, and child care), and diarrhea incidence data. Data analysis was done univariat, bivariate, using chi-square test. The results of this study indicate good feeding care pattern of 55.7%, hygiene and environmental sanitation categorized both by 44.3% and good child care by 78.5%. Most infants had diarrhea in the last 3 months (67.1%). There is a relationship between mother's feeding pattern with the incidence of diarrhea in infants (p = 0.0001). There is a relationship between hygiene care pattern and environmental sanitation with the incidence of diarrhea in infants (p = 0.0001). And there is a relationship between child care with the incidence of diarrhea in infants (p = 0.036). Based on the results of the study is expected to improve counseling about good parenting patterns to under five and for health workers to motivate health cadres in disseminating information to mothers about parenting patterns in children underfive.

Abstract

School-aged children are vulnerable to health and nutrition probelms. Various nutritional problems are common in school age. This is due to a lack of nutritional intake required by children. Milk is one of the food which known to contain high protein and calcium nutrients which are needed by school-aged children. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between milk consumption with body-height and student achievement in Muhammadiyah Elementary School 02 Kampung Dadap Medan. This is an observational research with cross-sectional design. The sample in this research is all of the students in Muhammadiyah Primary School 02 Kampung Dadap Medan started from class II to V which amounted to 88 students. The data of student’s milk consumption were collected by interview using 24 hour food recall form and food frequency done by the researcher. Body-height was measured by microtoise. The data of learning achievement were taken from student report result of the first semester of year 2016/2017. The result of the research shows that the height of the students of Muhammadiyah 02 primary school in Kampung Dadap Medan is still in the category below normal (44,3%). Most of the student there are having a good school achievement (67%). There is a significant relationship between protein and calcium adequacy of milk consumption with student height with p value = 0,0001. Meanwhile, there are no significant relationship between protein and calcium adequacy of milk consumption with learning achievement withp value = 0,193 and p = 0,239. Suggestions for the school to help increase the student’s milk consumption because it is beneficial for growth and development. In addition, students are advised to consume milk 2 glasses per day to meet the daily intake of a more optimal nutrition.   Keywords: Milk consumption, body height, learning achievement, student of elementary school

Abstract

Nutritional problems is one of a public health problems that has not been completely resolved, starting from under weight to the overweight. In the current era of globalization brought many changes including eating pattern such as eating fast food and physical activity.This study aimed looking for the description fast food consumption habits and physical activity with nutritional status on students of SMA Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan. The design of research used a cross sectional method. The population in this study is all students in SMA Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan as many as 658 people. with a sample of 87 people. Data obtained using food frequency and 24-hour food recall, physical activity data obtained using the recall activity and nutritional status measured by the BMI for age.             Results of research showed that the highest student frequency of nutritional status distribution were fatness and obesity about 48,3%. The average energy intake, protein intake, fat intake, and carbohidrat intake were 30,30%, 28,08%, 49,18%, and 28,61%. Based on the nutritional status of fatness and obesity were 53,1% with mild activity, and there were  also a normal nutiritional status were 39,2% with mild activity.            Factors relate of nutritional status are fast food consumption habits and physical activity. Suggested to the students who are fatness, it would be better pay attention consumption habits and physical activity such as doing exercise in order to get the ideal weight.   Keywords:       Fast food, Physical Activity, Nutritional Status

Abstract

Worker nutritional status is one of the important factors that contribute  in supporting workforce productivity. The fulfillment of nutrients will increase a better workforce productivity. This research aims to determine the description of nutrient intakes, workforce productivity and nutritional status of palm oil workers of  PT. Socfindo Sungai Liput Aceh Tamiang. This research is descriptive study with the samples of research about 40 workers in the processing plant. Data collection method is collected by  interviews using employee identity questionnaires, food recall forms and body measurements of workers including weight and height. The results of this research indicate that 65.0% of Socfindo factory workers had normal nutritional status. Workforce productivity of workers is 72,5% productive workers with normal nutritional status 65,4% and workers withnormal hemoglobin level 72,5%. Based on this research, it is recommended to the company of Socfindo palm oil factory especially in the health department to provide guidance to the workers to improve their knowledge about nutrition and do routine health check up related to nutritional status. Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a major cause of infectious morbidity and mortality in infants and children, especially in developing countries with low per capita income and medium income including Indonesia. According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infection in developing countries shows that there are 151 million (96.7%) new sufferers in the world of year. Acute Respiratory Infection is the top ranking disease of 10 major diseases with percentage of 12.4% (384 persons) in underfives at Sawit Seberang Health Center in 2016. This study aims to determine the relationship between completeness immunization with the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infection in toddlers. Types of this reseaech was descriptive by cross sectional design. The population in this study were all children under five years old (12-59 months) in the working area of ​​Sawit Seberang Community Health Center and 90 samples ware of 3,098 toddlers by accidental sampling. Data obtained using the questionnaire sheet completeness of immunization and acute respiratory infection incidence in infants. Data analysis using Chi-Square test with 95% confidence level. The result of this research shows that the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infection in toddlers in the working area of ​​Sawit Seberang Public Health Center as 47.8%.The result of bivariate analysis showed that the immunization has significant correlation with the incidence of Acute Respiratory Infection in toddlers that was p = 0,020. It is hoped that the Sawit Seberang Comminity Public Health Center provide counseling on the benefits and role of immunization for infants to prevent the occurrence of morbidity and mortality caused by the incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) and other diseases. Abstract

Habit of breakfast is included in one of the thirteen basic message of balanced nutrition. For school children breakfast sufficient proven to improve learning concentration and stamina thus improving learning achievement. Often school children ignore breakfast on the grounds of lack of time, not hungry or no appetite. Though breakfast is not just a booster stomach, but the breakfast also provides energy for the body to move with optimal, otakpun optimized to work with and not get sleepy. The aim of this research to find out effect of a healthy morning breakfast campaign with the comic media to changes in knowledge and attitudes breakfast for elementary school student 060880 districts Medan Polonia. This type of research is quasi experiment (quasi-experiment) with the draft One Pretest-Posttest Group Design. Total sample are 74 children which fluently reading. Using questionnaires and data collection to data analysis using testpaired t test, The result of the analysis showed that the change in the behavior of a healthy breakfast every morning with comics as a media campaign giving healthy breakfast, as seen from the increase in the average value of the knowledge and attitudes of children in public primary schools 060880 District of Medan Polonia. It is suggested to the health center in collaboration with the School Health Unit (UKS) can use the comics medium as a communication medium nutrition in educational activities and health education about healthy breakfast to change the behavior of elementary school students in eating a healthy breakfast in the morning before the activity.
