Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the effect of using modified series of pictures on the storytelling ability of 5-6 year old children at Al Hidayah Tabing Kindergarten, Padang City. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and implemented a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of 20 children in group B, divided into 12 children in the experimental class and 8 children in the control class. Data were collected through structured observations using an instrument in the form of a storytelling ability checklist that included aspects of listening to stories, answering questions, conveying ideas, using appropriate vocabulary, and retelling the story sequentially. Treatment was given through learning activities using modified series of pictures with the theme of butterfly metamorphosis. The results showed an increase in the average storytelling ability in the experimental class, namely from a score of 10.43 in the pre-test to 16.14 in the post-test. Meanwhile, in the control class the average score increased from 8.43 to 10.29. Based on the gain score analysis, the average increase in the experimental class reached 5.57, while the control class was only 1.86. The results of the Independent Sample t-Test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), so the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of modified series of pictures media has a significant influence in improving the storytelling ability of children aged 5–6 years at Al Hidayah Tabing Kindergarten, Padang City.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve children's number recognition skills through educational game media using a smart board at Melati Kindergarten, Mungka District. The research was conducted because children's ability to recognize and write numbers was still low, partly due to the limited use of instructional media in the learning process. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR), consisting of two cycles: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, documentation, tests, and assignments. The results showed a significant improvement at each stage of the research. In the pre-cycle stage, the average ability of children to recognize numbers was still relatively low at 22.2%. After the implementation of the action in Cycle I, the percentage increased to 72.2%, and in Cycle II, it showed a more significant improvement, reaching 89.95%. This improvement was supported by the use of educational game media through a smart board. The method proved effective in enhancing children's number recognition skills. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of play activities, visual media, and repetitive practice can improve children's understanding of numbers.

Abstract

Based on the findings of the research conducted, it can be concluded that the grain collage activity has a significant influence on the fine motor skills of children aged 4 to 5 years at Bina Bersama Kindergarten Bengkulu. This statement is supported by the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test analysis, which shows a significance value of 0.02, thus confirming its relevance because it is less than the threshold of 0.05. The grain collage activity has the capacity to improve children's skills in grasping, organizing, and sticking materials in a more synchronous manner. In addition, this activity encourages the development of children's perseverance, concentration, and hand-eye coordination through an interesting and fun educational experience. Consequently, the grain collage media can be considered a viable alternative for educational activities aimed at encouraging the development of fine motor skills in early childhood.

Abstract

Language politeness is an important element in the socio-developmental trajectory of early childhood. However, many children enrolled at Zahara Kindergarten, located in Bengkulu City, demonstrate a lack of adherence to socially acceptable linguistic behavior in their daily interactions. This investigation seeks to improve children's linguistic abilities through systematic familiarization with appropriate politeness. This study used the Class Action Research (CAR) methodology, which was implemented in two cycles with child participants from group B, aged 5 to 6 years. Data were collected through various methods including observation, documentation, and assessment checklists, then subjected to quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the habituation of polite speech effectively improved children's language politeness. In the pre-cycle, children who were in the Not Developing (BB) category were 72.73%. After the action in the first cycle, the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) category reached 45.46% and the Developing Very Well (BSB) category 18.9%. In the second cycle, the Developing Very Well (BSB) category increased to 90.91%. Thus, the habit of polite speech has been proven to be effective in increasing the politeness of language in early childhood.

Abstract

Fine motor development is an important component of early childhood development, which is intricately linked to the ability to coordinate smaller muscles, especially the hands and fingers. This investigation was motivated by the observed deficits in fine motor skills in 4-5 year old children at Bina Berma Kindergarten, Bengkulu, which include challenges in grasping, sticking, and systematically arranging objects. The purpose of this study was to ascertain the impact of grain collagen media on children's fine motor skills. This study employed a quantitative methodology using a quasi-experimental framework, specifically a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study participants consisted of 10 children from Group A, aged 4-5 years. Data collection was conducted through observational techniques using a fine motor assessment instrument. The data were further subjected to analysis through descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings revealed that the average pretest score of 14.1 increased to 18.4 in the posttest assessment. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a significance level of 0.02 ≤ 0.05, thus indicating a statistically significant effect of the grain collagen intervention on children's fine motor skills. Consequently, the grain collagen medium can be considered an effective and engaging pedagogical alternative for improving fine motor skills among contemporary youth.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the social skills of Group B children at Darma Mulya Early Childhood Education (PAUD Darma Mulya) who initially tended to be egocentric, low in tolerance, and less independent. This research was conducted in the semester of January - June 2026. The results of observations showed a significant increase in children's social behavior through three stages: the Foundation Stage (children become independent and disciplined in following the tempo of the music), the Socialization Stage (interaction and cooperation are built naturally through pair movements), and the Stabilization Stage (children's tolerance and conflict management mature when facing physical friction). On the last day, the children were able to organize themselves completely and move harmoniously to the rhythm of the music without verbal instructions from the teacher. It can be concluded that the application of the Movement and Song Method in a sequential and fun manner has proven effective in improving children's social skills at Darma Mulya PAUD.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of recycled materials on the development of fine motor skills in early childhood. This study adopted a quantitative methodology with a pre-experimental design and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study consisted of Group B children enrolled at Harum Kindergarten, located in Bengkulu City. Data collection methods were carried out through systematic observation and documentation, using fine motor skills assessment instruments, while data analysis was conducted both descriptively and statistically through a comparison of pretest and posttest results. The findings showed that the average pretest score for fine motor skills among children, which was recorded at 60, increased to 85 in the posttest, resulting in a gain of 25 points after the intervention involving the used materials. The results further confirmed that the application of recycled materials has a beneficial effect in improving children's fine motor skills. The incorporation of recycled materials into educational activities provides a realistic, engaging, and enjoyable learning experience for children. Children showed increased levels of activity and enthusiasm during tasks such as cutting, gluing, and assembling objects, thus facilitating the practice of eye-hand coordination. Consequently, recycled materials can be considered as an effective, cost-effective, and innovative alternative for educational resources aimed at improving fine motor skills in early childhood.

Abstract

Fine motor skills are an important component of early childhood development that requires stimulation through engaging play activities. Observations conducted at Permata Gumanti Kindergarten indicate that children's fine motor skills remain underdeveloped. This study aims to improve the fine motor skills of early childhood learners through games utilizing natural materials in the context of Permata Gumanti Kindergarten. The methodological framework used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), structured into two cycles that include the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The research subjects were all children at Permata Gumanti Kindergarten. Data collection methods were carried out through systematic observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The research findings revealed a significant improvement in children's fine motor skills. Initially, the majority of children were classified in the Beginning to Develop (MB) category. In the first cycle, improvement was observed; however, it did not meet the predetermined success indicators. After intervention in the second cycle, 80% of children achieved the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) and Developing Very Well (BSB) classifications. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of natural materials in games is an effective approach to improving the fine motor skills of early childhood at Permata Gumanti Kindergarten.
