Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan usia OR = 3.94, kelembaban ruangan OR = 60.00, pencahayaan OR = 16.59, ventilasi OR = 22.42, keberadaan sarana pelayanan kesehatan OR = 8.87 berhubungan dengan kejadian difteri.

Abstract

Acute respiratory infection (ARI) are leading causes of mortality and morbidity in children under the age of five in developing countries. The incidence and prevalence of ARI are a great burden in low and middle-income countries in comparison to high income ARI. The main objective of the study was to identify determinants of acute respiratory infections among child under five years in Surabaya. This is a case-control study conducted in Public Health Center (Puskesmas) in Surabaya. Data were collected by interviewing community with 1: 1 sample that consists of 66 sample of the case and 66 sample of control. Result: 34.1% was age group <24 months, 14.4% was low birth weight, 57.6% was without exclusive breastfeeding, 22.7% was not measles immunization. The determinant of acute respiratory infections among child under five years was exclusive breastfeeding which the significant showed consecutively p=0.582 (OR=4.163). The Community education programs should focus on addressing specific issues to identify the respiratory illness, simple case management, proper immunization practices, breastfeeding of infants. Keywords: Child under five years, Acute respiratory infections, Determinants

Abstract

Background & objectives: Environmental risk factors, both physical and biological (e.g. ecology of vegetation/plants, forest), equally serve as the risk factors for Anopheles mosquitos breeding. This study was designed to determine a model of spatial mapping for the ecology of vegetation and the potential habitats for the Anopheles mosquitos. Methods: Descriptive epidemiological research was employed to carry out the project, supported with a cross-sectional design. The research took place in Kupang regency, Oesao village, lasting for 2 months from October to November 2014. The ecology of the vegetation and all habitats of the mosquitos in Oesao village were regarded as the population of the research. They were purposively sampled. Results: The vegetation mapping revealed that the land area for rice fields is 169 ha, coconut and banana tress 56.68 ha, maize 67.03 ha, vegetable plants 59.53 ha, forages 21.52 ha, and forests 16.24 ha. The results of the mapping also revealed that the mosquitos breeding sites entail paddy fields, swamps, irrigation channels, and damps. Interpretation & conclution: The ecology of all types of plants mapped serves as potential habitats for the Anopheles mosquitos breeding sites. Plant ecology is quite varied in the Oesao Village, as well as extensive areas of the plant that are closely linked to inadequate growth and development of mosquitoes and specific species of Anopheles, An. vagus and An. annularis. Abstract

The Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) is one of the methods to perform cervical cancer test by applying acetic acid. The huge number of cervical cancer cases in Indonesia has worsened because more than 80% of the cases that have been brought to hospitals were already in an advanced stage. The aim of the research is to analyse the variable influence: projection, self efficacy and intention toward the decision to perform early detection of cervical cancer with the VIA test. The research design was cross sectional. The population were women of childbearing age in Pematangsiantar and the samples size were 245 respondents selected by multistage random sampling. The variables were projection, self efficacy intention and decision. The statistical analysis was Structural Equation Modelling. The results of the study were: 1) self efficacy affects intention (p= 0.000), 2) projection affects intention (p= 0.000), 3) intention affects decision (p= 0.000). The models of projection, self efficacy and intention take effect on the decision to perform early detection of cervical cancer with the VIA. Abstract

The number of malaria in this area always has the tendency of the most compared to the city/district in South Kalimantan Province. Behavior is internalisation factor from the level of knowledge, attitudes and actions of a person who influenced by customs, customs and belief in certain things that has been handed down by his ancestors. The behavior of a community group can be different from the other groups so that they formed a group behavior or can be said tribal behavior. The purpose of this research predicts that the number of the prevalence of malaria in Tanah Bumbu tribal based with Y1t : the tribe of Banjar, Y2t : Javanese, Y3t : the tribe of Bugis, and Y4t : other tribes using vector autoregressive (VAR) model. The results of the study showed with Granger Causality approach there is a relationship between the amount of the prevalence of Malaria Javanese with other tribes, Bugis tribe with other tribes. The relationship is strengthened in the VAR model, which is the number of the prevalence of Malaria Javanese influenced by the number of the prevalence of Malaria Javanese at period t-1, and the number of the prevalence of Malaria tribe Bugis at period t-1. While the number of the prevalence of Malaria tribe Bugis influenced by the number of the prevalence of Malaria Other tribes in the period t-2.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze the risk factors of cognitive impairment post-ischemic stroke. This research was case control design, consisted of 38 cases and 38 control. Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were tools to obtain data. Independent variables were age, gender, educational level, history of hypertension, exposure to cigarette smoke, medication compliance, and sleep pattern. The risk factors were age (OR = 3,43; 95% CI = 1,08<OR<10,89), sex (OR = 2,67; 95% CI = 1.05<OR<6,83), educational level (OR = 4,17; 95% CI = 1,60<OR<10,86), history of hypertension (OR = 1,60; 95% CI = 0,62<OR<4,17), exposure to cigarette smoke (OR = 1,24; 95% CI = 0,50<OR<3,04), medication compliance (OR = 6,59; 95% CI = 2,23<OR<19,43), and sleep pattern (OR = 8,125; 95% CI = 2,88<OR<22,93). It is suggested for ischemic stroke’s patient to maintain medication compliance and sleep pattern.
