Abstract

This quantitative study aims to examine the relationship between grit and hope among students at State Vocational School 6 Surakarta. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling method, involving 232 eleventh-grade students as participants. The dependent variable, hope, was measured using an adaptation of the Adult Hope Scale, while the independent variable, grit, was measured using the Short Grit Scale (Grit-S). Hypothesis testing was performed using the Pearson product-moment correlation method. The results showed a significant correlation, indicating a positive relationship between grit and hope. This suggests that higher levels of grit are associated with higher levels of hope among students, and vice versa. However, the strength of this relationship is classified as moderate. Additional analysis revealed a significant difference in the average hope scores between students in the accounting major and those in the Film Production major. While this study contributes to the growing body of literature on hope and grit among vocational high school students, several research limitations need to be taken into consideration.

Abstract

Resilience is a crucial aspect that is closely related to the mental health of children and adolescents. The development of measurements related to resilience can be the first step to be able to conduct accurate psychological assessments and develop strategies to strengthen resilience. This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The analysis was conducted on a sample of 1,087 high school students from the Surakarta area. The initial CFA model for the resilience scale showed a good fit (RMSEA = 0.073; SRMR = 0.055; CFI = 0.94, NFI = 0.95, GFI = 0.90).  Model fit means that the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) model is supported by empirical data and supports the theoretical structure. The scale also met the criteria of convergent and discriminant validity, as well as reliability, in explaining the dimensions of resilience: personal competence, trust in instinct, acceptance of change, control, and spirituality.  Among these dimensions, spirituality, personal competence, and trust had the highest reflective weight, followed by acceptance and control. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the Indonesian version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) is a valid and reliable tool for measuring resilience among senior high school students. Therefore, this scale can be used in conducting accurate psychological assessments in order to build strategies to strengthen resilience in adolescents.

Abstract

Vocational high school students face challenges in planning their future, whether choosing to work or continue their education. Hope is a crucial factor in determining future steps, which can be influenced by psychological well-being. This study aims to examine the relationship between psychological well-being and hope among 11th-grade students at SMKN 7 Surakarta. The results of this study can encourage educational institutions and teachers to pay more attention to students' psychological well-being. This research employs a quantitative method using Pearson’s Product Moment correlation technique. The sample consists of 276 students selected through simple random sampling. The instruments used are the Adult Hope Scale (AHS) based on Snyder’s theory and the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWB) based on Ryff’s theory. The results indicate a positive and significant relationship between psychological well-being and hope (r = 0.285, p < 0.05), although categorized as weak. Additional analysis reveals significant differences in hope based on gender and study program but not age. Male students exhibit higher hope levels than female students, while students in the Tourism Services program have the highest average hope scores, and those in Broadcasting and Film have the lowest. In conclusion, psychological well-being contributes to hope, but other factors also play a role, suggesting that future research should explore additional aspects.

Abstract

A child is considered stunted if it has delayed growth and development during the first thousand days of life (1000 HPK). This period begins with pregnancy and continues throughout the first two years of life. This condition causes chronic malnutrition. Some main causes of stunting is the lack of mother’s knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding child health and nutrition. Providing educational media, such as video and booklet, containing clear and comprehensive information about nutrition for pregnant mothers can be implemented to improve the limitations in maternal knowledge and understanding. This study aimed to examine the influence of nutritional education media, through videos and booklets, on the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of pregnant women in preventing stunting. This study used Research and Development (R&D) method with ADDIE approach. The total population was 1,992 pregnant women in Subulussalam city. Subjects were 44 pregnant women according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria with non-nonprobability sampling technique with purposive sampling type.. The knowledge, attitudes, and behavior data of the pregnant mothers were gathered by conducting pre-test and post-test using questionnaire. The results showed there  was a significant effect of the video and booklet on the pregnant mothers’s knowledge in preventing stunting, with a p-value=0.009. There was also a significant effect on the attitudes with p-value=0.006. While the behaviors have p-value=0.017 and showed significant effect as well.
