Abstract

Social media is an online platform that allows users to share content, interact and connect virtually. Global social media usage in 2022 reached more than 4.59 billion and is expected to grow to 6 billion by 2027. However, the rapid growth of social media has raised concerns about its impact on psychological well-being. Currently, there are many cases of depression and suicides due to mental health in various regions. Therefore, this study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between the intensity of social media use (Youtube, Facebook, Tiktok, and Instagram) and stress levels. The sample set amounted to 120 respondents with the criteria of age 18-34 years who actively use social media (Youtube, Facebook, Tiktok, and Instagram) and live in Semarang City.  This study used non-probability sampling. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive relationship between the intensity of social media use and stress levels. The hypothesis is proven by the results of multiple correlation tests with a significance value <0.05, namely 0.026, which means that the value is significant and the correlation coefficient between the two variables is 0.302, which means that the relationship between the two variables is positive and falls into the weak category.

Abstract

Semarang City, as an important center of trade and tourism, utilizes destination image and information technology to develop its tourism sector. The "Lunpia" application serves as the main information center for tourism in Semarang City, offering features such as transportation access, tourist attractions, local cuisine, and audio guides, making it easier for tourists to explore the city. In addition to digital marketing communication, destination image that promotes natural beauty and satisfying tourism experiences influences tourists' interest to visit. Effective digital marketing communication utilizing the Lunpia Application and building a positive destination image can influence tourists' interest to visit Semarang. However, despite being identified as a popular tourist destination, Semarang faces difficulty in attracting tourists, as evidenced by fluctuations and a decrease in tourist visitation rates from 2018 to 2021. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the influence of the Lunpia Application and destination image on tourists' interest to visit Semarang. This research uses a quantitative method with an explanatory approach. The sampling technique uses Non-probability Sampling with 100 respondents. The theories employed in this research are technological determinism theory and Theory of Reasoned Action. Hypothesis testing uses simple regression analysis assisted by SPSS. The hypothesis results show a sig. value of information exposure from the Lunpia application to interest in visiting Semarang of 0.103, which means there is no influence of Lunpia application information exposure on interest in visiting Semarang City. Meanwhile, the hypothesis test results show a Sig. value of destination image on interest in visiting Semarang City of 0.001, indicating there is an influence of destination image on interest in visiting Semarang City.

Abstract

Each person carries cultural values that are inherent to them and will take them wherever they go, including when they migrate to new areas with different cultures. On the other hand, Tampaksiring District is known for its deeply rooted cultural values, which are implemented in the social and religious life of the community. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the cultural values adaptation process occurs between permanent migrant communities and local communities in Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency. The theories used include Adaptation Theory, Communication Accommodation, Acculturation, Conflict, and Ethnocentrism. This study uses an interpretive paradigm with a phenomenological approach and data collection techniques involving in-depth interviews with six individuals. The results of the study indicate that aligning cultural values through adaptation and communication processes is crucial for creating harmony and avoiding conflicts in multicultural communities. Challenges faced by permanent migrant communities include discrimination, value clashes, and pressure to maintain their original cultural identity in an environment that may not be supportive. However, an appropriate adaptation process can enhance social harmony. Intercultural conflicts are often triggered by ethnocentrism and cultural value discrepancies, but familial approaches and mediation have proven in resolving these conflicts. The study concludes that intercultural communication, openness to differences, and mutual respect are key for permanent migrant communities and local communities to adapt to differing cultural values. For future research, the author hopes that subsequent studies will discover strategies or ways to enhance social familiarity within communities. Social familiarity is essential for creating strong social integration, which ultimately reduces tensions and conflicts that may arise from cultural differences.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the influence of watching TikTok live streaming intensity and product knowledge in TikTok Shop on Gen Z's purchase interest in fashion products. A questionnaire survey method was used to collect data from 100 respondents, using nonprobability sampling - purposive sampling, with specific criteria such as Gen Z (aged 13- 26 years) and having watched TikTok LIVE. Analysis using simple linear regression was employed to determine the relationship between variables of live streaming intensity and purchase interest, as well as product knowledge and purchase interest. The research findings indicate that the intensity of watching live streaming significantly affects consumer purchase interest on fashion products at TikTok Shop, while product knowledge does not affect purchase interest. These findings provide valuable insights for businesses in understanding consumer behavior, especially Gen Z, and implementing appropriate marketing strategies on the TikTok platform.

News is a communication medium that is interesting to study. Through news, the chronology of climbing accidents in Indonesian mountains is described to the public and becomes an interesting topic for research. This study aims to describe and understand the perspectives of mountain climbers on 3 climbing accident news in online media. The three news articles contain detailed chronologies of climbing accidents, two of which resulted in fatalities. This research uses Stuart Hall's reception analysis method to determine the audience's positions of meaning. The study was conducted with 4 informants: 2 novice climbers and 2 experienced climbers. The results show that all four informants agree with the 7 preferred readings that emerge from the three climbing accident news articles. Most informants accept the dominant meanings of the three climbing accident news articles, but in some specific aspects, there are negotiated readings from the informants

Abstract

Currently, brands worldwide are engaging in sustainability campaigns as part of their green marketing strategies. Uniqlo, a leading fast fashion company, has initiated a sustainability campaign titled "The Power of Clothing," which has been disseminated through its official social media channels. However, Uniqlo's transparency index still ranks below its competitors. Additionally, there are several obstacles to the effectiveness of the campaign, such as the emergence of negative consumer attitudes toward fast fashion and skepticism regarding greenwashing. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents using purposive sampling techniques. The study employs computer-mediated communication theory and cognitive dissonance theory. The research findings from a simple linear regression test indicate that the perceived informativeness of the "The Power of Clothing" campaign (X1) has a significant effect on the perception of Uniqlo as a green brand. The direction coefficient of the regression shows a positive influence of 0.452. Meanwhile, the results of the multiple linear regression test indicate that there is no significant effect of attitudes toward fast fashion and greenwashing on the perception of Uniqlo as a green brand.
