Abstract

This research is an experimental study with a 2×2 factorial design, examining the interaction between learning models and physics learning motivation on students' critical thinking skills, both overall and in terms of high and low levels of learning motivation. In addition, this study also aims to test the interaction between learning models and physics learning motivation on critical thinking skills. The study population consisted of all grade XI students at Madrasah Aliyah Allu Jeneponto in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The research sample consisted of 64 students, selected through a cluster random sampling technique with a lottery method to determine which classes would serve as the experimental and control groups. To minimize disruption to the ongoing learning process, randomization was conducted at the class level, rather than the individual level. Based on the lottery results, it was determined that class XI.1 was designated as the experimental class, taught using the guided inquiry learning model. In contrast, class XI.3 was designated as the control class, taught using the conventional learning model. Each class consisted of 32 students. Data analysis employed descriptive and inferential statistics, including a two-way ANOVA test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that the experimental group had an average critical thinking ability 12.81 points higher, with a standard deviation of 2.16, compared to the control group, which had an average of 11.09 points, with a standard deviation of 2.13. Inferential analysis confirmed a significant difference in students' overall critical thinking ability between the two learning models, both in the high-motivation and low-motivation groups. However, no influence was found between the learning model and physics learning motivation on the critical thinking ability of students at Madrasah Aliyah Allu. This shows that the influence of the guided inquiry learning model on critical thinking ability is consistent at all levels of learning motivation. Thus, the application of the guided inquiry learning model has been proven effective in improving students' critical thinking abilities, and learning motivation also plays an important role as an independent factor that supports the improvement of this ability. Keywords: guided inquiry, learning motivation, critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Research regarding sea surface condition during the coastal flood in Parepare 6 December 2021 has been carried out. In this research, the Delft3D model will be utilized to simulate the significant wave height (Hs) and direction, tide (eta), and total water level (TWL) using input data from ECMWF ERA-5, including zonal (u) and meridional (v) wind, as well as surface air pressure data (p). The model’s output demonstrate that the model is capable of accurately simulating the Hs and eta, utilizing 2x2 gridded satellite data and the tide observation station of BIG, respectively. Hence, we conducted simulations to explore the interaction between Hs and eta in the form of TWL in Parepare Bay, focusing in Bacukiki Barat and Ujung Districts on Desember 6, 2021. The results indicate that the maximum TWL for these two districts was 2.3376 meters dan 2.2096 meters, consecutively, both of which propagated towards the Parepare Coast. These extreme TWL height were exacerbated by the extreme rainfall occurring in Parepare City within 4-7 December 2021, which is exceeding 200 mm/day. The ECMWF ERA-5 model also revealed that the presence of strong winds blowing from The Java Sea to The Makassar Strait at speeds of around 25-30 knots, which is suspected to be the underlying cause of the high waves observed over the Makassar Strait.

This development research aims to: produce SETS (science, environment, technology, and society-based physics teaching materials to improve students' creativity that meet valid criteria; produce SETS-based physics teaching materials to improve students' creativity that meet practical criteria; describe the effectiveness of using SETS-based physics teaching materials to improve students' creativity that has been developed. The instruments used in this study were SETS-based teaching material validation sheets, practitioner assessment questionnaires, namely physics subject teachers, and creativity test instruments. The criteria for the practicality of the physics teaching module are seen from the assessment of practitioners (physics teachers), and the criteria for increasing creativity after the application of SETS-based physics teaching materials are seen from the increase in students' creativity test results. Based on the analysis results, it was obtained that: SETS-based physics teaching materials developed based on expert assessment using the Aiken V index analysis were declared valid and feasible to use; SETS-based physics teaching materials reviewed from practitioner assessments were in the very practical category; the effectiveness of increasing student creativity after using SETS-based physics teaching materials analyzed with N-gain of 72% was in the effective criteria.

Abstract

This type of research is Research and Development (R&D). Development is carried out by referring to the 4D model. This study aims to produce local wisdom-based teaching materials to improve students' critical thinking skills that meet valid and practical criteria, analyze the effectiveness of using local wisdom-based teaching materials to improve students' critical thinking skills that have been developed. The results of the study showed that expert research on local wisdom-based teaching materials that had been developed was then analyzed using the Aiken'V formulation, obtained an average aspect of content feasibility of 0.86, presentation feasibility of 0.90, and language aspect of 0.81 and stated that it met the feasibility criteria (valid). The results of the teacher's assessment of the teaching materials obtained aspects of the feasibility of instructions with an average of 3.83, aspects of the coverage of questionnaire components of 3.67, and aspects of language feasibility of 3.44 with a very practical category. So, it can be concluded that this local wisdom-based teaching material is declared feasible to be tested. The effectiveness of local wisdom-based teaching materials can be seen from the increase in students' critical thinking skills based on the results of the pretest and posttest which were analyzed using the N-Gain test. Overall, the average N-Gain value of students in critical thinking skills was 0.55 in the moderate category. So it can be concluded that there is an increase in the critical thinking skills of class XI students of SMAN 14 Bone. This shows that local wisdom-based teaching materials are effective for use in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to create and assess simulation-based learning media utilizing Visual Studio Code for creating dynamic fluid materials at the high school level. This development is centered on students’ misconceptions and the shortcomings of pre-built simulation platforms such as PhET and discontinued technologies (e.g., Adobe Flash). In contrast to previous studies, this research focuses on the development of an entirely customizable web-based simulation, created with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The simulation allows for teacher customization, access on multiple devices (responsive design), and offers the integration of interactive worksheets. The development of the simulation learning media was performed through the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Construct validity analysis showed that most items were positively correlated with the total score, while reliability testing yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.576, indicating the need for further instrument refinement. The evaluations made by students and teachers were classified as very good, indicating high acceptance and high practicality. This study is limited to evaluating media feasibility and media practicality, without evaluating the effect of media on student’s learning outcomes and conceptual understanding. The results of this study concluded that the media is feasible and practical to provide support for interactive conceptual visualization in physics learning. Future studies are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of the media through an experimental or quasi-experimental design.

The primary focus of this research is to create a learning tool that is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing the critical thinking skills of tenth-grade students at SMAN 9 Gowa for the 2025/2026 academic year. Based on the validation results from three experts analyzed using the Aiken’s V formulation, the module was declared valid, with average scores of 0.71 for content feasibility, 0.89 for presentation, and 0.85 for language. Furthermore, the module demonstrated a high level of practicality based on teacher assessments, covering instructions 0.71, component coverage 0.73, and language 0.89. In terms of effectiveness, the N-Gain test results showed an improvement in critical thinking skills with a score of 0.59, placing the module in the effective category. Consequently, it can be concluded that the developed SSCS-based learning module meets all feasibility criteria and has proven successful in improving the quality of learning at the school.
