Abstract

ABSTRACT The primary municipal waste treatment in Tuban Regency, East Java, was landfilling, besides the small amount of the waste was turned to compost. Landfilling causes global warming, which leads to climate change due to CH4 emission. This environmental impact could be worst by the population growth that increases the amount of waste. This study aimed to evaluate the environmental impact on waste management in the Gunung Panggung landfill in Tuban Regency and its alternative scenarios using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Four scenarios were used in this study. They are one existing scenario and three alternative scenarios comprising landfilling, composting, and anaerobic digestion. The scope of this study includes waste transportation to waste treatment which is landfilling, composting, and anaerobic digestion (AD). The functional unit of this analysis is per ton per year of treated waste. Environmental impacts selected are global warming potential, acidification potential, and eutrophication potential. The existing waste management in Gunung Panggung landfill showed the higher global warming potential because of the emission of CO2 and cost for human health, which is 6.379.506,17 CO2 eq/year and 5,92 DALY, respectively. Scenario 3 (landfilling, composting, and AD; waste sortation 70%) showed a lower environmental impact than others, but improvements were still needed. Covering compost pile or controlling compost turning frequency was proposed for scenario 3 amendment. Keywords: environmental impact, landfill, life cycle assessment, waste management   ABSTRAK Landfill merupakan pengelolaan sampah utama di tempat pemrosesan akhir (TPA) Gunung Panggung Kabupaten Tuban. Selain landfill, pengomposan diterapkan untuk mengolah sebagian kecil sampahnya. Landfill menghasilkan gas metana yang menyebabkan pemanasan global dan memicu perubahan iklim. Pertambahan penduduk memperbanyak sampah yang perlu diolah di TPA dan dapat memperparah dampak lingkungan yang ditimbulkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menilai dampak lingkungan dari pengelolaan sampah eksisting di TPA Gunung Panggung Kabupaten Tuban Jawa Timur beserta skenario alternatifnya menggunakan Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Terdapat satu skenario eksisting dan tiga skenario alternatif pengelolaan sampah yaitu landfilling, pengomposan, dan fermentasi anaerob (anaerobic digestion). Ruang lingkup studi meliputi pengangkutan sampah, pengelolaan sampah dengan cara pengomposan, Anaerobic Digestion (AD), dan landfill. Satuan fungsional yang digunakan yakni ton sampah yang diolah per tahun. Dampak lingkungan yang dipelajari di antaranya: pemanasan global, asidifikasi, dan eutrofikasi. Dampak lingkungan skenario eksisting menunjukkan nilai tertinggi terutama pada pemanasan global (6.379.506,17 CO2eq/tahun) dan kerugian pada kesehatan manusia (5,92 DALY). Skenario alternatif 3, yang meliputi pengelolaan secara landfill, pengomposan, dan AD menunjukkan dampak lingkungan yang kecil, namun memerlukan perbaikan. Perbaikan untuk skenario 3 yaitu dengan menambahkan penutup pada tumpukan kompos atau mengontrol frekuensi pembalikan kompos untuk mengurangi emisi NH3. Abstract

The increasing need of REY has been observed in industries such as catalyst industry, metallurgy, military, health and renewable energy resources. REY such as Ce, Nd, Y, and Eu has a prominent evidence to improve material properties such as high electropositive, good conductivity and renewable energy. Due to this increasing need of REY, exploration of alternative source has been conducted. One of the promising alternative sources is coal fly ash. The conventional method to recover REY from coal fly ash using inorganic acids is harmful to the environment. Thus, the exploration of REY extraction from coal fly ash using organic acid has been proposed in this study. The leaching agent was acetic acid applied for all operating condition. Regarding to the mineralization of REY in the form of siliceous minerals (non-magnetic coal fly ash). Silicate digestion was conducted using sodium hydroxide 8 M with solid-to-liquid of 25% to decompose the siliceous mineral. Further, the REY bound siliceous mineral will change to REY(OH)3. Temperature as one of the operating conditions was varied. The maximum recovery of leaching 20.58 %, 43.53 %, 17.38%, 40.96 %, 18.45 % and 32.74 % were achieved for Ce, Dy, La, Nd, Y and Yb respectively at temperature of 90 0C pH 1.74 and 120 minutes. For some metals, increasing the temperature higher than 70 0C does not provide any significant effect for REY recovery such as La and Ce.

Abstract

Neodymium (Nd) has been known as a vital component in the modern industry such as for very strong permanent magnets (NdFeB magnet). Some countries are starting to look for alternative sources of Nd such as coal fly ash (CFA), which is the waste from coal combustion. This study aims to look at the potential for Nd extraction from CFA using acetic acid at atmospheric pressure. The effect of CH3COOH concentrations (0,1-1,0 N), and leaching temperature (26-60 oC) was investigated. The experiment was carried out under a constant agitation speed (400 rpm), S/L ratio (3,75 % (W/V)) and CFA particle size (-400 mesh). The highest leaching eficiencies (72%) were achieved for concentration of acetic acid 0,5 N at 60 oC. The leaching kinetics results showed that it best fits the shrinking core model: [t.kap=1-3(1-XB) 2/3 +2(1-XB)] ensuring the overall leaching process is controlled by difussion ash layer. The activation energy determined from the experimental study was of 15,38 kJ/mol.

Abstract

 ABSTRACTThis research studied the role of youngster in development of renewable energy edutourism and its implication towards the regional economy resilience (study in Poncosari Village, Srandakan Subdistrict, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta). Mean while the purpose of this research was to analyzed the role of youngster in development of renewable energy edutourism, and also to analyzed the implication of the role of youngster in development of renewable energy edutourism towards the regional economy resilience.This research used qualitative descriptive method. Data collection technique was conducted by five steps, i.e.: 1) Observation, 2) Interview, 3) Documentation, 4) Literature, 5) Internet. Whereas data validity was conducted by cross check data technique. The result of research showed the role of youngster joined in Work Group of renewable energy edutourism had conducted promotion in some educational institution or wide society, either directly or through printed media and online. The development of renewable energy edutourism had significant impact towards the regional economy resilience, because it had increased economical income of surrounding people. It could be considere as manifestation of the familial economical resilience of which was as basic of the regional economy resilience. ABSTRAKPEnelitian ini mengkaji peran pemuda dalam pengembangan eduwisata energi terbarukan dan implikasinya terhadap ketahanan ekonomi wilayah (Studi di Desa Poncosari, Kecamatan Srandakan, Kabupaten Bantul, Yogyakarta). Adapun tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis peran pemuda dalam pengembangan eduwisata energi terbarukan, serta untuk menganalisis implikasi peran pemuda dalam pengembangan eduwisata energi terbarukan terhadap ketahanan ekonomi wilayah.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. PTeknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan lima tahap, yaitu: 1) Observasi, 2) Wawancara, 3) Dokumentasi 4) Kepustakaan, 5) Internet. Adapun validitas data dengan menggunakan teknik cross check data.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran pemuda yang tergabung dalam POKJA eduwisata energi terbarukan telah melakukan promosi di beberapa instansi pendidikan maupun masyarakat luas, baik secara langsung maupun melalui media cetak dan online. Implikasi peran pemuda dalam pengembangan eduwisata energi terbarukan dapat dilihat dari jumlah pengunjung yang berkunjung langsung berkoordinasi dengan pengelola PLTH dan BIOGAS lebih banyak jika dibandingkan dengan yang menggunakan jasa POKJA. Pengembangan eduwisata energi terbarukan mempunyai dampak yang signifikan terhadap ketahanan ekonomi wilayah, karena telah meningkatkan pendapatan ekonomi warga sekitar. Hal ini dapat dikatakan sebagai wujud dari ketahanan ekonomi keluarga yang merupakan dasar dari ketahanan ekonomi wilayah

Abstract

 ABSTRACTIndependence in the Field of Major Weapons Systems, especially technology in the defense industry, the government through PT. Dahana in collaboration with PT. Sari Bahari Malang, had developed and produced P 100 Live Bombs. The P 100 Live bomb was a type of high explosive fragmented bomb but was not included in the smart bomb group. The presence of the P 100 Live Bomb was expected to strengthened the Sukhoi Air Force Combat Aircraft storefront for meeting domestic needs to supported the durability of the Weapon System Main Tool. At present the bomb had been mass produced but in its production there were still a number of obstacles this research needs. This study aimed to determined the role of PT. Dahana, knew the inhibiting and supporting factors and formulated strategies in the production of Live P 100 Bombs. The study was conducted using descriptive analysis methods that presented data and facts. Alternative strategies were analyzed by SWOT analysis. The results of the study showed that First, the role of PT. Dahana in the production of Live P 100 Bombs as a lead integrator. Second, six prominent aspects were found, namely technology / machine aspects,  regulatory aspects,  capital aspects, HR aspects,  management aspects, and  material aspects. The six aspects, which made the inhibiting factors were material aspects, HR, and capital, while those that made the driving factors were the aspects of technology / machinery, regulation, and management. Third, the SWOT analysis described Quadrant IV, namely the consolidation strategy, “optimizing opportunities and minimizing weaknesses”.ABSTRAKKemandirian dibidang Alat Utama Sistem Senjata khususnya teknologi industri pertahanan, pemerintah melalui PT. Dahana yang bekerjasama dengan PT. Sari Bahari Malang, telah mengembangkan dan memproduksi Bom P 100 Live.Bom P 100 Live adalah jenis bom berfragmentasi daya ledak tinggi tetapibukan termasuk kedalam golonganbom pintar.Hadirnya Bom P 100 Live diharapkan dapat memperkuat etalase senjata Pesawat Tempur Sukhoi TNI AU untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan dalam negeri guna mendukung ketahanan Alat Utama Sistem Senjata.Saat ini bom tersebut telah di produksi secara massal namun dalam produksinya masih menjumpai sejumlah kendala hal ini diperlukannya penelitian.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui peran PT. Dahana, mengetahui faktor penghambat dan pendukung serta merumuskan strategi dalam produksi Bom P 100 Live. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis yang memaparkan data dan fakta. Strategi alternatif dianalisis dengan analisis SWOT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwaPertama, peran PT. Dahana dalam produksi Bom P 100 Live sebagai lead integrator. Kedua, ditemukan enam aspek yang menonjol yaituaspek teknologi/mesin, aspekregulasi,  aspek modal, aspek SDM, aspek manjemen, dan aspek material. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of this research was to obtain suitable mathematical model for ChemicalOxygen Demand (COD) removal originated from tannery wastewater using bagasse fly ash incontinuous system. In the column experiment, effect of flowrate, concentration of wastewater,and bulk density were studied. Three models: Adams-Bohart, Thomas, and Yan were applied toexperimental data to predict the breakthrough curve. The best model was evaluated usingcorrelation coefficients. Yan model was found to give the most accurate to describe dynamicbehavior of the column experiment. The best result was obtained at flowrate of 100 mL/min,concentration of 400 mg/L, and bulk density of 61 g/L. The Yan kinetic constant (k ) and the Yadsorption capacity (q ) were 0.3210 mL/mg/min and 17.0947 mg/g respectively and the Ycorrelation coefficient obtained was 0.9379.Keywords: Chemical Oxygen Demand, tannery wastewater, bagasse fly ash, adsorptionABSTRAKpengurangan COD dalam air limbah industri penyamakan kulit mengunakan abu terbang bagassecara kontinyu. Persamaan Adams-Bohart, Thomas, dan Yandiaplikasikan ke data percobaan untuk memprediksikan kurva breakthrough. Koefisien korelasidigunakan untuk mengevaluasi model terbaik. Proses pengurangan COD dengan abu terbangbagas secara kontinyu dalam kolom paling cocok dimodelkan dengan model Yan. Hasil terbaikdiperoleh pada kecepatan aliran air limbah 100 mL/menit, konsentrasi air limbah 400 mg/L, danbobot isi 61 g/L. Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the adsorption ability of chemically activated bagasse fly ash using H O or H SO to remove COD from tannery wastewater and to obtain 2 adsorption isotherm model in batch system. Two stages have been carried out, namely the activation experiment and the adsorption isotherm experiment. In the activation experiment, effect of H O dan H SO (3% and 7,5% w/w) were studied. The best result of the variation was used in the next experiment. In the adsorption isotherm experiment, variation of the initial concentrations of COD from 52,53 to 1665,79 mg/L and mass of bagasse fly ash from 0,1 to 0,4 g were used. Equilibrium data was used to evaluate the parameters in the Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin equations. The best model was evaluated using determination coefficients. The results showed that bagas fly ash had better ability to reduce the COD when it was not activated with H O nor H SO (3% and 7,5%). Freundlich model was best to describe COD removal using bagasse fly ash in batch system. Freundlich equation constants K and n were F 0,4360 (mg/g)/(L/mg)1/n and 1,2969 respectively and the determination coefficient obtained was 0,93.  Keywords: Chemical Oxygen Demand, tannery wastewater, bagasse fly ash, adsorption
