Abstract

All countries pledged to strive to limit global warming. The implementation of renewable energy must be accelerated. One of the most essential components of renewable energy is lithium-ion batteries. The surging demand for lithium necessitates new technologies for direct recovery from brine. One of the most promising methods is adsorption. Because of its advantages, lithium-aluminum layered double hydroxides have started their application on a commercial scale. This research uniquely explores the synthesis of lithium adsorbent from aluminum waste, an approach that is both cost-effective and environmentally sustainable. The reaction behavior was studied, including the rate of hydrogen gas production and the co-precipitation process. The quality of the product was assessed by its adsorption capacity and characterization. The synthesis of lithium adsorbent was successfully performed through two-step processes, with the reaction kinetics studied at temperatures between 30 and 60 °C. XRD and FTIR results confirmed the adsorbent product. The adsorbent worked well for synthetic brine with 39–1350 ppm lithium concentration and adsorption capacity until 6.7 mg lithium ion per g of adsorbent. These findings contribute to the development of sustainable technologies for lithium extraction and can be applied to improve industrial lithium recovery processes.

Abstract

Rare earth elements (REEs) are chemical elements in the III B and lanthanide groups on the chemical periodic table. Extracting REEs from secondary resources (such as coal fly ash) could be environmentally friendlier than extracting REEs from primary resources. Coal fly ash was chosen because of its attractive REE availability and to minimize the pollution problem created by coal fly ash dumping. Citric acid is used as the leaching agent because of its biodegradability, relatively safe vis-à-vis mineral acid commonly used in the REE leaching, and its non-damaging nature to coal fly ash’s properties as construction material. The leaching experiment was conducted at temperature variations of 30, 50, and 85 °C, with liquid-solid ratio (L/S) of 5, 10, and 15 mL/g in 50 mL of 0.01 mol/L citric acid solution. The leaching experiments were conducted in a water bath shaker. It was found that increasing L/S and temperature mainly contributed to increasing cerium leaching capacity.

In industry 4.0, agricultural human resources, especially the millennial generation, are required to have an entrepreneurial spirit and technological capabilities in carrying out entrepreneurial activities in the agricultural sector. Not many studies that discuss farmers human resources millenial in Indonesia have been studied seriously, especially educational institutions that deal with the entrepreneurial agricultural sector (Setiawan, et.al, 2023). Sustainable development of agricultural human resources requires the development of farmers' own entrepreneurship. So it requires support from all parties, especially the world of education, which has a vision and mission and an orientation towards developing agricultural human resources. In Indonesia, one of the educational programs that educates agricultural human resources and millennial farmers has begun to grow, one of which is the Agripreneur Academy. This research aims to explore what is the human resource development model for millennial farmers with an entrepreneurial character? The research method used was qualitative by conducting in-depth interviews with millennial farmer informants who were participants in the agripreneur academy program. For validation, we also conducted a group discussion forum with informants from the management of the Agripreneur Academy, academics from university and agricultural figures from associations. This research produces the following results: (1) agripreneur academic institutions play a role in building the entrepreneurial mindset of millennial farmers' human resources that farmers must be able to become entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector; (2) the character of the formation of farmers with an innovative spirit, from being limited to traditional farmers transforming into millennial entrepreneurial farmers who are market-oriented and utilize technology in marketing the agricultural food products that are being developed.  Keywords: human resources; millennial farmer; agripreneur; entrepreneurship  ABSTRAK Dalam industri 4.0, sumber daya manusia pertanian khususnya generasi milenial dituntut memiliki jiwa wirausaha dan kemampuan teknologi dalam menjalankan kegiatan wirausaha di sektor pertanian. Abstract

Abstract

In the process of flotation of copper-bearing ore, several factors such as the concentration of the collector used and the pH of the fluid used can have an impact. In this study, observations were made on the influence of collector concentration and pH on the recovery of copper ores from Papua, Indonesia. The ore samples were obtained from three different site. Preparation of samples were conducted by crushing and sieving to obtain solid particles with a size of +200 mesh. The fine particles then fed into froth flotation device. Froth flotation operations were carried out at different operating condition namely pH (pH 3, pH 6, and pH 9), xanthate concentration (1300, 2000, and 2600 ppm), and time (3, 5, 7, and 14 minutes). The froth and tailings were collected separately and dried in an oven at 60oC. The feed, froth, and tailings were then subjected to EDX analysis to determine their compositions. The results of the experiment showed that higher collector concentrations did not necessarily lead to increased copper recovery. The appropriate pH conditions, however, could optimize copper recovery. The optimum conditions obtained from this experiment were xanthate concentration of 2000 ppm, pH of 3, and the ore sample 2
