Abstract

  The fisheries sector(which is madeup of capturefisheries and aquaculture) is one of the most important household economics in Kabupaten Kampar, both from economic and social standpoints. The fisheries, particularly catfish, have also significant role in supplying community’s consumption for animal protein in the area, increasing fishermen revenue, and providing employment opportunities. Given the nature of the fishery products as a perishable product, the most common method to preserve the fish is by smoking the fish. The smoked fisheries industry further supports almost 12 % of households (directly and indirectly), and contributes to the livelihood, employment, and household food security, especially forcommunities live along the Kampar’s Delta. Currently, several fisheries small-holder’s enterprises were assisted by The Agribusiness Incubator, University of Riau, in terms of processing, packaging, and marketing techniques. This research was aimed to study marketing and behavioural analysis of smoked catfish produced by the enterprises. Most of the respondents are at productive age (15-54 years), with a high school education or equivalent level, and the average amount of revenue per month ranged between Rp. 2,600,000 to Rp. 5,000,000.  The respondent’s family members are in the category of small (2-3 people). The respondents mostly purchase the smoked catfish directly to the Wholesale/Dealer/Collector. The respondent’s purchasing decision is mostly affected by the following product attributes: packaging, point of sale location, and service offered by the seller. Plotting the product’s attributes in the Cartessian diagram shows that the first quadrant is filled by the following attributes: product’s aroma, brand, price, and smoked fish color. The second quadrant is described by hygienic properties, weight per pack, taste, and saltiness property. Meanwhile, for the third quadrant is positioned by the products’s nutrition information and labeling; as well as for the fourth quadrant is the location of sales, service sales, and forms of packaging. Based on the analysis of Fishbein’s Multiatributes, the respondent’s attitude is considered as fairly-good on the multiattributes categorical approach. Abstract

CV Gaharu Plaza Indonesia is one of the few companies that processes agarwood in the Riau province. Poor marketing systems causes the product to be unable to compete in the market. The purpose of this research is to identify and analyse the supply chain management system of agro-industry and efficient marketing channels at CV Gaharu Plaza Indonesia. This research was observed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. Qualitative descriptive analysis is used to analyse the mechanism of supply chains. Descriptive quantitative is used for measuring added value and marketing efficiency. Marketing efficiency can be determined by calculating marketing margin, farmer’s share and marketing efficiency. The value added of the actors are as follows: agarwood farmer (86%), CV Gaharu Plaza Indonesia (88%) and distributor (25%). Agarwood tea’s marketing consist of 3 channels, channel 2 is the efficient channel consisting of marketing margin IDR 7000, farmer’s share 65% and marketing efficiency 8%. Keywords: agarwood tea, supply chain, Hayami method, farmer’s share, marketing efficiency

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the shelf life of instant noodles made from local corn flour with or without the addition of tapioca. This study was conducted experimentally using the Accelerated Storage Studies Method by keeping the products for 28 days at temperatures of 35ºC, 45ºC, 55ºC, the observed parameter organoleptic quality and TBA values. The results showed the self life of instant noodles made with or without the addition of tapioca were 39,552 days and 49,869 days, respectively. Abstract

The aim of the research was to obtain the best combination treatment between early sugar concentration and Tween80 concentration as surfactant and nutrition for Saccaromyces cerevisiae to produce ethanol on very high gravity fermentation from Nypa sap. The exploration research used two factor treatments with two replications. The treatments consist of early sugar concentration N1 (20%), N2 (25%), N3 (30%) and Tween80 concentration T0 (0%), T1 (0,2%), T2 (0,4%), T3 (0,6%). Observation was conducted every 24 hours i.e sugar concentration, ethanol concentration, amount of cell, and pH. Data obtained were analyzed by descriptive method. The best combination treatment was T3N2 (Tween80 0,6% and N 25%) which produced ethanol 17,25%.   Keywords: Nypa sap, Tween80, Bioethanol, Very High Gravity Fermentation

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze attributes of oyster mushroom product. And to analyze  the importance and performance of mix product attribute of oyster mushroom marketing. The experiment was conducted in Business Center Unit of Riau Mushroom Cultivation (Unit Usaha Pusat Budidaya Jamur Riau (Pusdamuri). Questionnaires were conducted in a place that became the location Pusdamuri oyster mushrooms marketing. The method that used to determine the respondents  is  non-probability sampling. Then continued with convenience sampling.  The result showed that the results of Importance of Performance Analisys there are three attributes in Quadrant I (top priority). The attribute is the price, packaging design and availability. In Quadrant II, (feat maintain) there are six attributes, first taste, second nutritional value, benefit, color, location, and last  advertising and promotion. Attributes that are in Quadrant III (low priority) are the shelf life, the content (volume) of packaging and packaging labels. In Quadrant IV (redundant) there are two attributes, namely size and customer service. Based on Customer Statisfaction Index (CSI), CSI is known that the value of 70.67% in the range of 66% - 80.99% which means that the respondent has satisfied the performance conducted by Pusdamuri (Centre for Mushroom Cultivation Riau). Consumers activities in purchase of oyster mushrooms can be used as input for producers and retailers to adjust to the demand (conformance to requirment).   Keywords: product attributes, Importance Performance Analisys,CSI

Abstract

The objective of this research was to get the best formulation of kappa carrageenan as basic component of edible film with the addition of corn starch and to improve transparency and the rate of water transfer edible film. This research was conducted experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with factorial arrangement (4x3). The first factor was the concentration of corn starch (0; 2,5; 5 and 7,5g) and the second factor was kappa carrageenan concentration (0,6; 0,8 and 1 g). The result of variance analysis showed interaction of addition of corn starch and kappa carrageenan significantly affect edible film transparency. The addition of corn starch concentration gave significantly affect on thickness, water transfer, and transparency. The Addition of different carrageenan concentration gave significantly affect for thickness and water transfer. The best formulation according to characteristics of edible film was the J2K2 treatment which has thickness 0,144 mm, water transfer 0,055 g/hour and transparency 5,812. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of sodium chloride (NaCl) on the quality of fresh palm fruit bunches  and Crude Palm Oil (CPO) also to find the best concentration of sodium chloride.  The method used in this research was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) experiment with six treatments and four replications.  The treatments were NaCl concentrations P0 (0%), P1 (5%), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), P4 (20%), and P5 (25%).  The collected data were statistically analyzed by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) continued by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level.  The parameters observed were loss of brondolan mass, yield, moisture, specific gravity, levels of free fatty acid (FFA), and impurity content. The results of this reseach showed that NaCl can influence the quality of fresh palm fruit bunches that yield the loss of brondolan mass, as well as to the quality of CPO, the levels of  FFA, moisture, and specific gravity.  The treatment chosen from the result of this research was P5 (concentration NaCl of 25%).  Treatment of P5 has levels FFA of 2.05%, moisture 0.216%, impurity content of 0.062%, specific gravity of 0.919, yield of 23.43% and loss of brondolan mass of 2.81%. Keywords: Natrium chloride, fresh fruit bunches, and crude palm oil.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the combination of catching and processing fish products are appropriate in order to achieve optimal conditions and analyze the allocation of resources owned by the firm to achieve optimal conditions. This research was conducted in Desember 2012 to July 2013 with a survey method. direct interviews with employees KUB (Kelompok usaha bersama) sinar rohil both on land and at sea as well as direct observation of the field conditions where the authors study This research aims to provide information about the activities of the optimization of production systems at the company Data processing method uses operations research techniques with linear programming aided by software QM for windows. Refined analysis of process data can be viewed through 3 stages: analysis of primal, dual analysis and sensitivity analysis. The activities of production management are fishing operations in the fishing ground and processing the fish on land The result of optimization calculation on 15 GT vessels show that in optimum condition system cathching and fish processing black fomfret  weighing 2.959 kg , silver fomfret 6.315 kg, and torpedo scad weighing 5.614 kg that give profit to the company. While excessive resources or resource constraints become inactive is fuel, bait, operational budget, budget marine workers, auxiliary raw materials, labor and drying place.   Keywords: Optimization, System Catching, Linear Programming

Abstract

The purpose of  this study was to obtain best combination urea and Cordyceps mycellium on the quality of concentration ethanol. The research was implemented to determine the optimization  production of bioethanol by fermentation method technique Very high gravity fermentation (VHGF) with free cell to see the effect of the combination treatment in an increase in bioethanol. This research was conducted an experiment with two factors, the first factor is Urea which consists of four levels and the second factor isCordyceps mycellium consisting of three levels each treatment combination obtained twelve experimental units. Combination of Urea levels are U1 (0 g/l); U2 (0.2 g/l); U3 (0.4 g/l); U4 (0.6 g/l), while the combination of Cordyceps mycelliumlevels C1 (0 g/l); C2 (0.5 g/l); C3 (1 g/l). Observations were made every 24 hours; covering sugar, ethanol content, the number of cells, and pH. The data were analyzed descriptively by using a tabular or graphical. The best treatment isa combination of U2C2 (Urea 0.2 g/l and Cordyceps mycelium0.5 g/l) that resulted in the largest ethanol 22.5%. Keywords: Nypa sap, VHGF, Bioethanol, Cordyceps mycellium, and Urea

Abstract

This research aims to determine and analyze the factors that affect the production of  coffee in RangsangPesisirSub District. This research uses survey method to conduct interview with 75 sample of coffee farmers obtained by using the slovin method with field trips to their farms. Factors affecting agricultural production are analyzed using the Cobb Douglass production function and using the least estimated squares method. There are four factors of coffee production are assessed influen : number of coffee crops, amount of manure, pesticides, and labor. The variable significantly affect coffee production in RangsangPesisirSub District is the number of coffe crops and labor. Keyword : coffee, production factor, cobbdouglas, rangsang pesisir
