Abstract

Indonesia’s diverse cultural, natural, and geological resources boost tourism. Geoparks are key to sustainable development, and the Gunung Sewu Geopark is recognized by UNESCO. However, its main use in tourism does not yet fully affect the village's independence. This study addresses research gaps by proposing an integrated policy framework that uses multi-criteria analysis to consider economic, social, and environmental factors as an effort to improve village selfsufficiency and governance geopark. Using the multi-criteria policy analysis (MULTIPOL) method, this research examines the alignment among the priorities of scenarios, policies, and action plans. The findings reveal that priority scenarios in Gunung Kidul and Wonogiri enhance GSUGGp community advantages by increasing community awareness (CpcityBhav), with the highest average values of 17.4 and 17, respectively. In Pacitan, two priority scenarios are identified: strengthening regulations and institutions for sustainable GSUGGp management (InstituReg) and CpcityBhav, both with average value of 16.8. Policy and action plan priorities across the three regencies show that Gunung Kidul and Pacitan focus on marketing and boosting tourism activities to stimulate local economies, while Wonogiri emphasizes community-based initiatives through tourism and local entrepreneurship. At the program level, regional differences emerge in priority actions, including partnerships, green investments, education-based tourism, and university collaboration. This study highlights the importance of locally adaptive, integrated policies to overcome institutional fragmentation and promote sustainable Geopark development that strengthens village independence. The strategic framework developed offers practical relevance for geoparks facing similar cross-jurisdictional challenges.

Abstract

Inclusive and sustainable economic development is a very important and relevant approach to be applied in various regions in Indonesia, including in areas that are in the process of becoming new autonomous regions, namely North Sukabumi Regency. This approach aims to create economic growth that not only encourages increased income but also ensures that the benefits are felt by all levels of society, including marginalized groups, while maintaining ecosystem balance and creating a better future generation. This study analyzes potential economic leading sectors to promote inclusive and sustainable economic development. The selection of leading sectors was carried out using the Promethee method, which is an outranking-based multi-criteria analysis (MCA) method based on a preference index. A total of 12 criteria were used, and data were obtained through questionnaires from several experts. The results of this study indicate that the development of the Food Crops, Horticulture, and Food and Beverage Industries subsectors is a potential sector recommended for promoting inclusive and sustainable economic development.

Abstract

Food security is a critical aspect of regional development, particularly in metropolitan areas that function as centers of consumption, production, and distribution. This study aims to identify leading food commodities in the PEKANSIKAWAN Metropolitan Area of Riau Province, which includes Pekanbaru City, Kampar Regency, Siak Regency, and Pelalawan Regency, and to provide recommendations for strengthening regional food security. The research employed Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift Share Analysis (SSA) to examine comparative and competitive advantages across the four regions. The analysis identified four key commodities: poultry meat in Pekanbaru City, aquaculture fish in Kampar Regency, rice and onions in Siak Regency, and agroindustry-based rice and fish in Pelalawan Regency. These commodities form a complementary system that enhances interregional synergy and food supply resilience. The findings indicate that optimizing interregional linkages through collaborative investment, integrated supply chains, and food system clusters is essential to address both production disparities and consumption needs. The conclusion emphasizes that the metropolitan scale provides unique opportunities to combine local strengths into a coherent regional food system, which can better support the availability, accessibility, and stability of food. Policy implications highlight the need for strategic investment in irrigation, cold chain logistics, and digital market platforms, alongside institutional strengthening through farmer cooperatives, financial access, and capacity building. The study contributes scientifically by integrating territorial analysis with quantitative methods in a metropolitan context, offering both theoretical enrichment for food security literature and practical guidance for regional policymakers.

Abstract

The public health level is a crucial indicator for evaluating the success of health sector development. In Sukabumi Regency, characterized by diverse geography and socio-economic conditions, there are notable variations in the Public Health Degree Index (PHDI) across regions. This study employs Crisp-Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (csQCA) using Tosmana QCA software to explore the combinations of factors that influence PHDI outcomes. Data were collected from the Sukabumi District Health Office, the Central Statistics Agency, and other secondary sources. The aim is to analyze regional differences in community health and identify the sets of factors that drive high or low PHDI levels. Results show that Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (CHLB) and sanitation are the most consistent determinants of high PHDI, even in contexts with limited health facilities and budgets. Conversely, improvements in health infrastructure and financial resources are effective only when paired with strengthened CHLB and sanitation practices. Interestingly, extreme poverty does not necessarily hinder achieving a high PHDI if healthy behaviors and environmental sanitation are well-established. On the other hand, areas with low PHDI typically suffer from a combination of unhealthy behaviors and poor sanitation, despite having adequate infrastructure and funding. These insights highlight the need for targeted, area-specific intervention strategies that prioritize enhancing healthy living behaviors and sanitation, along with optimizing health facilities and financial support.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: The development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) as a sustainable forest city raises concerns regarding the sustainability of rural settlement areas that have long existed within its boundaries. Objective: This study aims to assess the sustainability status of the Bumi Harapan Village settlement across ecology and infrastructure, economic, socio-cultural, and institutional dimensions and to identify sensitive attributes that may inform sustainable settlement development. Methods: The study was conducted in Bumi Harapan Village using field observations, a questionnaire administered to the village government, and secondary data. Sustainability was assessed using Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS)-RAPSettlement across 39 attributes grouped into four dimensions. Results: Bumi Harapan is moderately sustainable in the ecology and infrastructure dimension (60.05) and institutional dimension (62.58), but less sustainable in the economic dimension (41.16) and socio-cultural dimension (41.89). RSQ values range from 0.94 to 0.95 and stress values from 0.133 to 0.137. The most sensitive attributes include waste management, green open space, clean water availability, village market availability, community participation in waste management, and participation in decision-making. Conclusion: These findings support evidence-based efforts to improve the sustainability of the Bumi Harapan settlement, particularly by strengthening environmental services, local economic capacity, community participation, and responsive village governance.
