Abstract

The development of land border areas is continuously inevitable, so the government annually rolls out programs and policies. The sustainability of this development is expected to make the border area a center of economic growth, have a multiplier effect on the surrounding area, reduce poverty and backwash the economy, attract investment, and improve the country's income. In comparison, eliminates problems in the land border area, such as low indicators of development performance and regional isolation. This research was conducted in provinces with land border areas, namely West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, and Papua. Observations were made from 2015 – 2020 using secondary data sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistic. The research method used Principal Component Analysis to reduce thirteen to six variables of government programs supporting development performance in border areas. The reduced factors then used as variables in the Data Regression Panel to find out what programs affecting gross domestic product, poverty, and human development index in Indonesia's land border areas. The fifth variables are investment, health, agriculture, road infrastructure and markets and transportation. All variables have a significant effect on poverty and human development index, but not gross domestic product. This result shows a government economic strategy for developing sustainable land border areas.

Abstract

Geographically, Indonesia is located on three of the world's main tectonic plates and has 127 active volcanoes, making it highly vulnerable to natural disasters. In addition to natural disasters, Indonesia is also facing the Covid-19 disaster, which has greatly affected the tourism sector. Batu City is one of the leading tourism areas. Because Batu City is prone to disasters, this will certainly have an impact on the economy of the people of Batu City. Therefore, this study aims to analyze economic vulnerability due to disasters and the role of institutions in dealing with them. This research is a case study that uses a quantitative and qualitative approach, using the results of respondent interviews, ArcMap 10.3, ILWIS software, and MACTOR. The results obtained are that the disasters that have the most severe impact on the economic vulnerability of Batu City are droughts and earthquakes. In addition, other results also show that the role of institutions has not been good enough in creating institutional strategies in Batu City. Based on the modeling results using MACTOR, it is known that the disaster management efforts carried out by the tourism object and the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) agree and support the implementation of these efforts.

Abstract

Creative industry is a strategic sector of national development. Lack of capital is a major obstacle to its development. This study analyzes financial inclusion of micro small creative industries (MSCI) relating to access and loan use. Both logit and Tobit models were employed for 1,367 MSCI from micro small survey data 2014. This study proved that women entrepreneurs who are less educated, limited asset and located in rural area tend to have greater constraints in financial inclusion. This study recommend the importance of financial education for women entrepreneurs in rural areas and expansion of internet uses and conduct digital finance.

Abstract

Sustainability of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) requires rural institution role. The study was conducted in Karawang and uses institutional economics approach and logit regression. The analysis shows potential problems of SRI related with principal-agent/institutional relation and economics transaction costs. Strengthening the activities within farmer groups will reduce economics transaction costs in beginning of application. Farmer will choose "bagi hasil/revenue sharing" as land management cooperation with moderate risks and transaction costs. Monitoring and incentive mechanism will reduce problems of adverse selection and moral hazard. Some factors which determine the sustainability of SRI are production, principal position, off farm work and ex ante transaction costs.

Abstract

Population movement is a form of spatial interaction between regions. This phenomenon arises asa logical consequence of the heterogeneity of regional development that occurs. PandeglangRegency as an underdeveloped area should not be left behind because of the many leaks of spatialinteractions that are more directed outside this district. Investigating the daily mobilization of thepopulation internally is important in determining which sub-districts play a role as a destination foreconomic activity. The basic data used include the survey origin destination of Banten Province in2019 and data on Potential Villages (Podes) 2019 in the Pandeglang Regency. The method used isthe Scalogram method to determine the Sub-District Development Index (SDI) and the gravitymethod to analyze spatial interactions. The Hierarchical classification was carried out on the SDIvariable, the number of daily movements (density), and the distance between districts. This is doneto see the intensity of the daily movement of the population according to density, distance, andSDI hierarchy class. The spatial interaction magnitude is estimated based on the populationestimation parameters and SDI through the natural logarithmic transformation (ln) of the gravitymethod formula. The results show that the highest average population movement occurs in thehigh-density hierarchy leading to the sub-districts of the SDI 1 hierarchy. The sub-districts ofCadasari, Munjul, Patia, Saketi, and Sukaresmi as sub-districts from which spatial interactionoriginate will produce positive intensity values when compared to other sub-districts. CadasariSub-District will provide a positive spatial interaction value when it becomes the goal of the dailymovement of the population.

Abstract

The availability of Detailed Spatial Plans (RDTR) is crucial for supporting development implementation and ease of doing business. However, there are still problems in the preparation of RDTR, necessitating acceleration. Regarding this acceleration, it is necessary to analyze how participatory and collaborative planning methods can play a role. Participatory and collaborative approaches are important because public trust and stakeholder relationships in participatory and collaborative planning influence the implementation process and planning outcomes. This study aims to identify the relationships between implementing actors and stakeholders involved in the preparation of RDTR so that they can be optimized with a participatory and collaborative approach. The research methods used are Social Network Analysis (SNA), Organizational Network Analysis (ONA), and post-review surveys. The results show that the relationships between implementing actors and stakeholders related to RDTR preparation are not yet optimal, therefore requiring remapping and rearrangement within the legal framework. Participatory and collaborative approaches will elaborate the possibility of more effective and efficient relationships with changes in roles and media of interaction.
