Abstract

Halitosis is caused by food scraps that are decayed by bacteria because oral hygiene is poor, and this condition can be aggravated by irregular teeth. Eliminate unpleasant odors by brushing your teeth, using mouthwash and traditional methods by consuming fibrous fruits such as apples and guava. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of consuming guava juice compared to apple juice against changes in halitosis. Samples for a class I students of Banda Aceh 7th Middle School was 120 people divided into 2 groups. The research was in August 2017. This research method is quasi-experimental. Data analysis was tested by T-test at 95% significance level. The results of the study before consuming apple juice were the first measurement of 3,00 and the second was 3,02, after being given halitosis apple juice the first mean decreased 1,70 and the second measurement was 1.58. Before consuming red guava juice it had the first large measurement average of 2,98 and after being given red guava juice, it decreased to 2,22 (first measurement) and 2,13 (second measurement). A very significant decrease in the halitosis score that consumes apple juice has better effectiveness in reducing halitosis scores compared to consuming red guava juice p= 0,000. It is recommended for schools to be able to consume apples and red guava fruit as natural ingredients to reduce bad breath or prevent bad breath (halitosis).Halitosis disebabkan dari sisa makanan yang membusuk oleh bakteri karena kebersihan mulut buruk, dan keadaan ini dapat diperburuk oleh faktor susunan gigi yang tidak teratur. Abstract

One of the consequences of the ongoing climate change is the increasing likelihood of extreme precipitation frequency in the future, which causes the declining trend of total precipitation that affects water debits in the watersheds and brings difficulties to a city like Padang that is situated near the watersheds. In order to elaborate on this, a number of extreme precipitation indices recommended by ETCCDMI was utilized to assess the extreme precipitation condition for the period 1975-2013. These indices were calculated based on the rain-gauge stations along the watersheds in and around Padang. Before processing the data, a series of homogeneity test were undertaken to make sure the data were comparable. The results showed that there was a significant declining trend on the total annual precipitation (PRCPTOT), an increasing trend of the number of days without rain (R0) and a decreasing frequency of the number of days with precipitation of more than 50 mm in the Batang Kuranji Watershed. The results suggested that atmospheric circulations, such as El Nino and positive Dipole Mode, have played their role on the trend as a result of their intensified frequency due to global warming.

Abstract

The most fundamental problem in this study is the high change of land cover that occurred in the city of Padang into settlements and open land, so that forest cover becomes reduced. If forest cover diminishes, while population, industry and transportation growth is increasing, environmental inequalities from plants absorbing emissions released by human activity decrease, so the surface temperature becomes warmer. If this is allowed to continue, then the hydrometeorological disaster will threaten the city of Padang. In general, this study aims to determine how the phenomenon of climate change that occurred in the city of Padang based on the estimation of carbon stocks in accordance with land cover. This research uses a combination of remote sensing technology with direct measurement in the field. The integration of land cover change data with the value of carbon stocks on a plot scale can illustrate changes in carbon stocks on a landscape scale. The results show that within 1989-2017 there has been a change in forest cover to non-forest land that leads to a decrease in carbon stocks and increased carbon emissions. Increased carbon emissions in the atmosphere caused a change in rainfall in Padang City, where Padang City had a high rainfall ranging from 4500-6000mm / year, while now decreasing to 3000-4500 mm/year indicating that climate change has occurred in Padang City.
