Abstract

This research aims to explore the concept of tazkiyah Al-Ghazali as a strategy for reconstructing the character of students in the face of digital identity disruption, with a focus on analyzing the mechanism of internalization of spiritual values and its implications for the formation of digital generation character. The research method used a qualitative approach through library research with document and literature analysis techniques, examining Al-Ghazali's works, contemporary literature on digital identity, and related academic sources. The research found that Al-Ghazali's concept of tazkiyah offers a comprehensive framework for shaping the character of learners in the digital era through four fundamental stages: muraqabah (self-surveillance), muhasabah (introspection), mu'ahadah (self-promise), and riyadhah (spiritual practice). The results revealed that this multidimensional approach is able to transform the challenges of digital identity disruption into opportunities for spiritual character development by providing effective psychological defense mechanisms in the face of virtual identity fragmentation. The research proves that Al-Ghazali's classical spiritual concept has contemporary significance, offering an integrative solution to shape an authentic, meaningful, and characterful digital generation through the internalization of sustainable spiritual values, thus bridging the Islamic intellectual tradition with the dynamics of modern technology.

Abstract

The utilization of digital technology has significantly transformed the way Muslims study the Qur'an. Digital Qur'an applications, online platforms, and artificial intelligence (AI) provide easier and faster access to religious texts, including Qur'anic exegesis and studies. However, concerns arise regarding the potential impact of these technologies on the depth of religious understanding, especially in preserving the spiritual and traditional aspects of Qur'anic studies. This study aims to explore the optimal use of digital technology in Qur'anic studies and examine the opportunities and challenges with a focus on digital applications. A qualitative approach was employed using library research, drawing from literature sources such as books, academic journals, articles, and relevant research reports. Findings reveal that digital technology offers numerous conveniences, such as broad, interactive, and flexible access. However, challenges like potential misuse of shallow interpretations, dependence on algorithms, and declining quality of teacher-student interactions pose significant concerns. Thus, the application of digital technology in Qur'anic studies should adopt a wise approach, adhering to the principles of Islamic scholarship and spirituality. Additionally, digital literacy and collaboration between religious scholars and technology developers are essential to ensure that digital applications and platforms genuinely support a profound and contextual understanding of the Qur'an, assisting users in filtering information from credible sources while avoiding the spread of inappropriate content.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the need to strengthen moral values as a response to the developments of modern times, which have impacted changes in individuals’ mindsets, behavior, and spiritual aspects. Therefore, learning resources are needed that can instill religious values in a systematic and practical manner, one of which is the book Me + God Enough by Ahmad Rifa’i Rif’an. This research aims to analyze the values of moral education contained in the book, which include morals toward Allah SWT, morals toward fellow human beings, and morals toward oneself. The study employs a qualitative approach using content analysis techniques through a systematic and in-depth examination of the text. The results show that the values of moral education toward Allah SWT include tawakal (trust in God), tauhid (monotheism), dzikrullah (remembrance of God), and taubat (repentance) as forms of strengthening faith. The values of moral education toward fellow human beings are reflected in the development of mutual respect, social awareness, empathy, and efforts to maintain harmonious social relationships, implemented through ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood). Furthermore, the values of moral education toward oneself are manifested through the cultivation of mujahadah (self-discipline/struggle), qana’ah (contentment), patience, and syaja’ah (courage). Thus, this book contributes to supporting the internalization of spirituality-based moral education values that are relevant to the formation of religious character and ethical behavior in daily life.

Abstract

The phenomenon of mother blaming has become increasingly prominent in contemporary child-rearing dynamics, particularly among working mothers who are required to balance dual responsibilities in both domestic and public spheres. This phenomenon reflects a social construction that positions mothers as the primary individuals accountable for both the success and failure of child upbringing. This study aims to analyze the forms and social construction of mother blaming in the context of child-rearing among working mothers and to examine its implications from the perspective of Islamic education. This study employs a qualitative approach through a conceptual literature review by analyzing scholarly publications, journal articles, and relevant social phenomena. The findings reveal that mother blaming is a product of deeply rooted gender bias embedded within societal culture, reinforcing the double burden borne by working mothers and contributing to psychological distress as well as influencing child-rearing practices. From the perspective of Islamic education, responsibility for child upbringing should not rest solely on mothers; rather, it constitutes a collective trust (amanah) shared by fathers, families, and the wider community. Therefore, there is a pressing need to reconstruct a more equitable and collaborative understanding of child-rearing grounded in Islamic values in order to foster a holistic and just educational environment for children. This article contributes to the existing literature by proposing a conceptual reconstruction of child-rearing based on the values of Islamic education as a more equitable, collaborative, and family-oriented paradigm that promotes the common good (maslahah) in responding to the phenomenon of mother blaming.

Abstract

Abstract

Student learning activity in Islamic Cultural History learning remains a challenge when instruction is dominated by conventional teacher-centered methods. Such learning conditions may limit students’ participation in asking questions, engaging in group discussions, observing historical events, and explaining historical materials coherently. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Predict, Observe,Explain (POE) learning model assisted by Time Sequence Card media on students’ learning activity in Islamic Cultural History at MA Darul Huffaz Pesawaran. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 60 eleventh-grade students, comprising 30 students in the experimental class who received POE learning assisted by Time Sequence Cards and 30 students in the control class who received conventional instruction. Data were collected using a learning activity questionnaire covering students’ willingness to ask questions, participation in group discussions, and involvement in completing learning tasks. The data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by an independent-samples t-test using SPSS. The results showed a significance value of 0.005, which was lower than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, the Predict, Observe, Explain learning model assisted by Time Sequence Card media had a significant effect on students’ learning activity in Islamic Cultural History learning.

One of the transformations in the field of education includes the rapid development of digital technology. Traditional teaching methods centered on lecturers are considered less effective in meeting the needs of modern students. Technology offers various tools and platforms that can enrich the learning process and support student learning independence. However, the implementation of technology in Islamic religious education still faces various challenges. This research aims to explore new approaches in Islamic religious education through the integration of technology and support for student learning independence. The research methodology used is library research, where data is collected from various written sources such as books, scientific journals, conference papers, theses, and credible online sources. The results of the study show that the integration of technology in Islamic religious education can increase accessibility by providing various learning resources, offering interactive learning, and providing instant feedback. Some identified new approaches include the use of mobile applications, e-learning platforms, social media, and educational games. To improve the quality of Islamic religious education through technology, it is recommended that educational institutions provide training for lecturers, develop a digital curriculum, enhance technological infrastructure, encourage student collaboration, and conduct regular evaluations. Thus, it can be concluded that the integration of technology in Islamic religious education has great potential to support student learning independence. By implementing the identified new approaches, Islamic religious education can become more relevant and effective in the digital era.
