Abstract

Reproductive health is an important aspect that adolescents need to understand to maintain their physical and mental well-being. This community service program aims to provide education and counseling about reproductive health to students of IT As-Syakur High School, targeting students aged 16-18 years. The methods used include face-to-face counseling, interactive discussions, simulations, and utilizing digital platforms for self-study. The material presented covers reproductive anatomy, the risks of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), early pregnancy, contraception, and psychosocial aspects related to relationships and decision-making. The implementation results showed a significant increase in students' understanding after the counseling, with an average improvement from 60% to 85% in the post-test. A total of 90% of students understood reproductive anatomy, while 85% understood the risks of STDs, and 80% mastered the material on contraception. The use of digital media by 65% of students for self-study also demonstrated the program's effectiveness. This program successfully addressed the stigma among students regarding reproductive health and encouraged their active involvement in learning. This success provides a strong foundation for implementing similar programs in the future with a broader scope, involving parents and teachers, and supporting the sustainability of the program through a technology-based approach. Abstrak Kesehatan reproduksi merupakan aspek penting yang perlu dipahami oleh remaja untuk menjaga kesehatan fisik dan mental mereka. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi dan penyuluhan tentang kesehatan reproduksi kepada siswa SMA IT As-Syakur, dengan target siswa berusia 16-18 tahun. Metode yang digunakan melibatkan penyuluhan tatap muka, diskusi interaktif, simulasi, dan pemanfaatan platform digital untuk belajar mandiri. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup anatomi reproduksi, risiko penyakit menular seksual (PMS), kehamilan dini, kontrasepsi, serta aspek psikososial terkait hubungan dan pengambilan keputusan. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman siswa setelah penyuluhan, dengan peningkatan rata-rata dari 60% menjadi 85% pada post-test. Sebanyak 90% siswa memahami anatomi reproduksi, sementara 85% memahami risiko PMS, dan 80% menguasai materi tentang kontrasepsi. Penggunaan media digital oleh 65% siswa untuk belajar mandiri juga menunjukkan efektivitas program. Program ini berhasil mengatasi stigma yang ada di kalangan siswa mengenai kesehatan reproduksi dan mendorong keterlibatan aktif mereka dalam pembelajaran. Keberhasilan ini memberikan dasar kuat untuk penerapan program serupa di masa depan dengan cakupan yang lebih luas, melibatkan orang tua dan guru, serta mendukung keberlanjutan program melalui pendekatan berbasis teknologi.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of the pharmaceutical sector in controlling infectious diseases, focusing on strategies, challenges, and solutions that can be implemented. The research method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to collect and analyze data from related literature. Inclusion criteria include articles published in the last ten years, using English or Indonesian, and discussing pharmaceutical strategies in controlling infectious diseases. The literature search process was carried out through scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. The results of this study are Infectious disease control strategies involve the development of new vaccines and drugs, efficient drug distribution, and public education. The pharmaceutical sector plays an important role in creating medical solutions and implementing vaccination campaigns. The main challenge is antimicrobial resistance, which is caused by the unwise use of antibiotics. To overcome this challenge, public education, strict supervision in health facilities, and the development of new drugs are needed. The application of digital technology, such as AI-based applications, can also help monitor drug use and provide early warnings about the spread of disease. The role of pharmacists is vital in providing information and education about disease prevention, correct drug use, and the importance of vaccination. With innovative solutions such as the development of emergency pharmaceutical packages, the implementation of e-prescription, and technology-based training for pharmacists, it is hoped that the global health system can be more resilient in dealing with infectious disease outbreaks. Collaboration between the pharmaceutical sector, governments, and international organizations is essential in strengthening infectious disease control efforts and improving the readiness of the global health system.

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to collect, evaluate, and synthesize findings from relevant studies on the use of evidence-based data in drug development. The method used was a Qualitative Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which focused on understanding in-depth how the integration of data from clinical trials, big data, and laboratory studies can improve drug efficacy and safety. Through this approach, the study identified experiences, perceptions, and findings in the literature on drug development, and how this evidence supports decisions in drug selection and testing. The results showed that evidence-based pharmacy has great potential to improve the efficacy and safety of therapies by leveraging the integration of data from various sources and advanced analytical technologies. This approach can address key challenges in modern pharmacy, such as drug resistance and patient response variability, and result in more personalized and effective therapies. However, the implementation of evidence-based pharmacy requires support from various stakeholders, including academia, industry, and policy makers. Challenges such as data interoperability and privacy protection need to be addressed to ensure wider adoption. With a strategic and collaborative approach, evidence-based pharmacy can be the foundation for better precision medicine in the future, providing significant benefits to patients worldwide.

Abstract

Pengelolaan limbah organik merupakan tantangan di lingkungan pesantren yang dapat menimbulkan permasalahan lingkungan jika tidak dikelola dengan baik. Program ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan santri Pondok Pesantren Manbaul Huda di Seureuh Jawa, Cibiuk, Garut, dalam mengolah limbah organik menjadi ekoenzim, sebuah produk hasil fermentasi yang bermanfaat sebagai pupuk organik dan cairan pembersih alami. Program ini dilaksanakan melalui tahap-tahap persiapan, pelatihan, praktik produksi, pemanfaatan produk, dan evaluasi keberhasilan. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan bahwa 90% santri aktif berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan dan memiliki pemahaman yang baik tentang pembuatan ekoenzim, sebagaimana dibuktikan dengan peningkatan skor post-test rata-rata sebesar 85%. Sebanyak 65 liter ekoenzim berhasil diproduksi, melampaui target awal sebesar 50 liter. Produk ekoenzim dimanfaatkan untuk kebutuhan internal pesantren dan mulai dijual ke masyarakat oleh beberapa santri, menunjukkan potensi kewirausahaan yang tumbuh. Kesadaran lingkungan di kalangan santri juga meningkat, dengan 75% santri mulai memilah limbah secara mandiri. Program ini diintegrasikan ke dalam kurikulum pesantren, menjadikannya sebagai kegiatan rutin yang berkelanjutan. Dengan pendekatan kolaboratif dan berbasis praktik, program ini berhasil menciptakan pesantren yang ramah lingkungan, mandiri secara ekonomi, dan berpotensi menjadi model pemberdayaan lingkungan yang dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain.

Abstract

Free radicals are atoms, groups of atoms, or molecules that have one or more unpaired electrons in the outermost orbital and are highly reactive. Free radicals are more able to attack cells in the body, especially those that are vulnerable, causing various diseases such as premature aging, cancer, liver, and other degenerative diseases. Antioxidants are compounds that can be considered as free radical reactivity. Sources of natural antioxidants are plants which generally contain phenolic compounds. Phenolic or polyphenolic compounds can be in the form of flavonoids. The ability of flavonoids as antioxidants has been widely studied, where flavonoids have the ability to reduce free radicals and also act as anti-free radicals. Kepok banana hump contains flavonoid compounds. The aim of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol extracts of kepok banana weeds using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method based on the IC50 value. The principle of this method is the decrease in color intensity or absorbance of the DPPH solution which is proportional to the increase in the concentration of antioxidant compounds. This research was carried out experimentally, collection and processing of plants, experience of plant materials, manufacture of extracts, and testing of antioxidant activity. The kepok banana weevil was extracted by maceration method using various solvents based on the level of polarity, namely n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol in stages. The extraction results obtained thick extracts of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol as much as 2.12 g (0.70%), 1.09 g (0.36%), and 4.64 g (1.54%) . The third antioxidant activity test of kepok banana weevil extract using the DPPH method using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 519.0 nm with a series of concentrations of 100 g/mL, 150 g/mL, 200 g/mL, 250 g/mL, and 300 g/mL. The results of the antioxidant activity test using the DPPH method showed that the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol extracts of kepok banana weeds had IC50 values of 197.5 g/mL and 257.30 g/mL, 142.51 g/mL, respectively. The ethanol extract had moderate antioxidant activity compared to the n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts.

Abstract

Farmers in Kelompok Tani Sukawargi 2, Sukawargi Village, Cisurupan District, Garut Regency face challenges related to their dependence on conventional farming that uses chemicals, which impact health and environmental sustainability. A community service program was then implemented to enhance the knowledge, skills, and awareness of the community regarding the benefits of organic farming. The training provided covered the basic principles of organic farming, organic fertilizer production, natural soil management, and pest control using natural ingredients. The training also educated farmers on the importance of transitioning from chemical-based farming to organic farming for the sake of health and environmental sustainability. The results of the community service showed a significant improvement in farmers' understanding of organic farming and organic product marketing. Farmers showed a high interest in applying the techniques learned and implementing broader product marketing strategies. Awareness of the impact of chemicals on health and the environment also increased. Furthermore, training on organic product marketing opened up better economic opportunities for farmers. Abstrak Petani di Kelompok Tani Sukawargi 2, Desa Sukawargi, Kecamatan Cisurupan, Kabupaten Garut menghadapi tantangan dalam ketergantungan terhadap pertanian konvensional yang menggunakan bahan kimia, yang berdampak pada kesehatan dan kelestarian lingkungan. Pengabdian masyarakat kemudian dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan kesadaran masyarakat tentang manfaat pertanian organik. Pelatihan yang diberikan mencakup prinsip dasar pertanian organik, pembuatan pupuk organik, pengelolaan tanah alami, dan pengendalian hama dengan bahan alami. Pelatihan juga mengedukasi petani tentang pentingnya beralih dari pertanian kimia ke pertanian organik demi kesehatan dan kelestarian lingkungan. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman petani mengenai pertanian organik dan pemasaran produk organik. Petani menunjukkan ketertarikan tinggi untuk menerapkan teknik yang dipelajari dan mengimplementasikan pemasaran produk secara lebih luas. Kesadaran mengenai dampak bahan kimia terhadap kesehatan dan lingkungan juga meningkat. Selain itu, pelatihan pemasaran produk organik membuka peluang ekonomi yang lebih baik bagi petani.

Abstract

Effective pharmacy management is essential in ensuring drug availability in health facilities. This study aims to analyze the pharmaceutical management system in Garut Regency, focusing on aspects of recording, infrastructure, readiness of health workers, and local government policies. The research method used was a qualitative approach with interview and observation techniques in several health facilities. The results showed that many health facilities still use a manual recording system, which risks causing errors and delays in drug procurement. In addition, limited infrastructure and the readiness of health workers in adopting pharmaceutical information systems are the main obstacles in digitizing pharmaceutical management. In terms of policy, the absence of strong regulations and limited budget hamper the optimal implementation of digital systems. Therefore, it is necessary to improve infrastructure, train health workers, and support clearer policies to encourage the digitalization of the pharmaceutical system in Garut Regency. ABSTRAK Pengelolaan farmasi yang efektif sangat penting dalam memastikan ketersediaan obat di fasilitas kesehatan. pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sistem pengelolaan farmasi di Kabupaten Garut, dengan fokus pada aspek pencatatan, infrastruktur, kesiapan tenaga kesehatan, dan kebijakan pemerintah daerah. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara dan observasi di beberapa fasilitas kesehatan. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa masih banyak fasilitas kesehatan yang menggunakan sistem pencatatan manual, yang berisiko menimbulkan kesalahan dan keterlambatan dalam pengadaan obat. Selain itu, keterbatasan infrastruktur dan kesiapan tenaga kesehatan dalam mengadopsi sistem informasi farmasi menjadi hambatan utama dalam digitalisasi pengelolaan farmasi. Dari sisi kebijakan, belum adanya regulasi yang kuat serta keterbatasan anggaran menghambat implementasi sistem digital secara optimal. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan peningkatan infrastruktur, pelatihan tenaga kesehatan, serta dukungan kebijakan yang lebih jelas untuk mendorong digitalisasi sistem farmasi di Kabupaten Garut.

Abstract

Permasalahan pengelolaan sampah organik di wilayah perkotaan, termasuk Kecamatan Tarogong Kaler, Kabupaten Garut, menjadi tantangan serius yang berdampak pada lingkungan dan kesehatan masyarakat. Volume sampah organik rumah tangga yang tinggi belum diimbangi dengan sistem pengolahan yang efektif di tingkat sumber. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengimplementasikan sistem pengelolaan sampah organik berbasis komposter otomatis yang mudah dioperasikan dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan lokal. Metode yang digunakan meliputi identifikasi permasalahan melalui survei dan diskusi kelompok, perancangan alat komposter otomatis, pelatihan kepada masyarakat, serta evaluasi dampak terhadap perilaku dan lingkungan. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pengelolaan sampah mandiri oleh masyarakat. Rata-rata rumah tangga berhasil mengurangi pembuangan sampah organik hingga lebih dari 60%, dan mampu menghasilkan kompos berkualitas yang dimanfaatkan untuk pertanian rumah tangga. Partisipasi masyarakat meningkat dari 12% menjadi 84%, serta tingkat pemahaman tentang pengelolaan sampah organik mengalami peningkatan dari skor 2,1 menjadi 4,3 pada skala 1–5. Selain itu, tingkat kepuasan terhadap penggunaan alat mencapai 88% pada kategori sangat puas. Komposter otomatis yang dikembangkan terbukti efektif, ekonomis, dan mudah digunakan, serta mampu mengintegrasikan aspek teknis dan sosial dalam upaya pengelolaan lingkungan. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan solusi berbasis teknologi yang adaptif dan berpotensi direplikasi di wilayah lain dengan karakteristik serupa. Kebaruan dari pengabdian ini terletak pada pendekatan integratif antara teknologi dan pemberdayaan masyarakat yang diterapkan secara langsung pada konteks lokal. Kata Kunci: Sampah organik, komposter otomatis, pemberdayaan masyarakat, penglolaan lingkungan, dan teknologi adaptif.

Abstract

Smoking is one of the biggest concerns in the world of health today because until now cigarettes are still the main cause of death and disease. Conventional cigarettes are processed tobacco products that are wrapped in paper to form cylinders. Vape is an alternative to conventional cigarettes allegedly safer than conventional cigarettes. Research This study aims to determine the difference in hemoglobin levels of conventional smokers and mixed smokers (conventional and electric). Qualitative method with comparative survey technique. The samples in this study were conventional smokers and mixed smokers. Consisting of 30 samples, 15 samples of conventional smokers and 15 samples of mixed and used smokers. The results of independent t test. The value of Sig. (2 tailed) of 0.018 more than 0.05, then there is a significant (significant) difference between the hemoglobin (hb) of conventional smokers and mixed smokers. Further research can continue research in analytical form with different, specific and more developed parameters. Comparison of hemoglobin levels in conventional smokers and mixed smokers, and pay attention to the brand in e-cigarettes (vapor).

Abstract

This study aims to identify challenges and opportunities for medicinal plant conservation in Indonesian forests, focusing on local communities' role, technology use, and government policies. Indonesia's forests, rich in medicinal plants, face grave threats from deforestation and land conversion for agriculture. Climate change is also exacerbating the sustainability of medicinal plants by changing their growth patterns. Local communities living around forest areas have traditional knowledge that is critical to the conservation of medicinal plants. If properly utilized, this knowledge can help maintain the sustainability of medicinal plant species and minimize the negative impacts of land conversion. In addition, information technology and biotechnology offer solutions for monitoring and preserving medicinal plants. Mapping and active compound extraction technologies can improve conservation quality and facilitate the development of medicinal plant-based products for modern medicine. However, a significant challenge faced is the lack of policies that support medicinal plant conservation and the lack of clarity in regulations governing the utilization of these plants. Community empowerment through conservation education and training is key to the long-term success of medicinal plant conservation. By integrating the community's traditional knowledge, supportive policies, and modern technology, medicinal plant conservation can be carried out sustainably. This research emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the government, local communities, and the private sector in achieving conservation goals that are more effective and beneficial for all parties.
