Abstract

This study aims to describe the digital literacy of prospective mathematics teachers who are conducting web-based learning in the new normal era. This research is classified as a qualitative descriptive research, data collected through surveys and interviews. The research subjects were 4th semester students of the mathematics education study program. Subjects were taken using purposive sampling technique for filling out the questionnaire and then 5 students were randomly selected to be interviewed. The results showed that the digital literacy of prospective mathematics teachers in web-based learning in the new normal era was quite good, this was evidenced by the results of student questionnaires which showed positive categories on each indicator. In addition, the cumulative percentage of students on the indicator of basic ability to use the internet (81.08%), on the indicator of the ability to seek and obtain information (75.32%), on the indicator of skills in choosing frequently used information sources (59.49%) and cumulative percentage of ability to use information effectively (81.87%). This is reinforced by the results of interviews with students which showed that the five students were able to achieve these four indicators.

Abstract

The phenomenon of thuggery in Indonesia is a complex problem that is rooted in the socio-political and economic structure of this country. This article aims to analyze the relationship between thuggery and political parties, as well as examine its impact on Indonesia's investment climate and global competitiveness. The research was conducted with a qualitative-descriptive approach, using secondary data obtained from literature studies, international agency reports, the latest government policy analysis, and equipped with a systematic luterature review (SLR) on related themes. The findings of the study show that thuggery evolved from a long history from the colonial era to the reform period, with a pattern of close relationships between thugs and political elites through networks of patronage and political clientelism. Thuggery is also used intensively as a tool of mass mobilization and an instrument of intimidation in electoral competitions. The impact on the investment climate is significant, as it creates additional costs in the form of illegal levies and intimidation, lowers investor confidence, and weakens Indonesia's competitiveness compared to neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. The government has implemented a number of important policies, including the establishment of the Thugs Task Force by President Prabowo Subianto in May 2025, to overcome thuggery and create better stability for the business world. However, major challenges are still faced such as the involvement of officials, strong networks of thugs, and weak community participation. This article recommends strengthening synergy between the government, law enforcement, the business world, and the wider community through regulatory reform, increased transparency, and strict supervision. This step is expected to effectively reduce the negative impact of thuggery, improve the investment climate, and lift Indonesia's global competitiveness in the long term.

However, in practice, the teaching materials used by teachers during lessons often fail to increase students' interest. This research and development study aims to produce and assess the feasibility of AR (Augmented Reality)-based Mathematics Instructional Media on the topic of Three-Dimensional Shapes. This study is a type of Research and Development, which is a research method used to create a specific product and test its effectiveness. The Research and Development model employed in this study is the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Based on the results of this research and development, it can be concluded that the AR-based Mathematics Instructional Media on the topic of Three-Dimensional Shapes was successfully developed and received an excellent rating according to the assessments from various experts and student responses. The implication of this study is the importance of using instructional media in the classroom to enhance student’s learning interest.

Abstract

Many mathematics pre-service teachers face obstacles in understanding basic differential calculus concepts, which could affect their teaching abilities. A deep understanding of learning obstacles and developing relevant learning strategies is necessary to address this issue. This research aims to identify learning obstacles experienced by mathematics pre-service teachers in differential calculus and evaluate the effectiveness of an e-didactics design based on TPACK in overcoming those obstacles. The research method is Design-Based Research (DBR) with the Plomp development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, evaluation, and revision. The subjects involve 39 mathematics pre-service teachers from Mathla’ul Anwar University and La Tanza Mashiro University, Banten, Indonesia. Research instruments include pretest, post-test, validation, and effectiveness questionnaires with data analysis covering walkthrough, documents, triangulation, instruments, and qualitative analysis. The finding identifies three types of learning obstacles: ontogenic, epistemological, and didactical. The improvement in learning outcomes demonstrates the effectiveness of the e-didactics design: 52% in real number systems and functions, 74% in limits, 88% in derivatives, and 65% in the application of derivatives. The effectiveness survey recorded a score of 83%, indicating that the e-didactics design of differential calculus based on TPACK effectively addresses learning obstacles.

Abstract

This research aims to determine and obtain actual data on the types of epistemological learning obstacles in solving probability story problems. This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in solving probability story problems. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques, including written tests, interviews, and documentation. Based on the analysis of the written test, interviews, and documentation data, it was found that out of 20 students who took the learning obstacle test, 11 scored below 60. The percentage of students who scored below the minimum completion criteria was 55%. These obstacles include errors in understanding the problem concept, errors in selecting and using solution procedures, errors in writing answers, and errors in operational techniques. It indicates that half of the students who took the learning obstacle test on probability story problems still experience learning obstacles, particularly epistemological obstacles, in solving such issues. It is reinforced by analysis and in-depth interviews with three vocational students that these students still participate in epistemological obstacles ranging from conceptual, procedural, and technical operational obstacles.

Abstract

The mathematics materials in learning mostly used package books, but the provided resources in the school were limited and teachers did not optimize the existing technology to provide effective and interesting materials. As a consequence, students did not complete the exercise according to mathematical procedures and they were pessimistic. The general research purpose was to produce a metaphorical thinking approach-based worksheet for students' procedural fluency on valid characteristics. This study used research and development by the ADDIE stage model. The participant was 9th-grade students in junior high school. Data collection were observation, questionnaires, and interview techniques. The results showed that the characteristics of the developed worksheet have been valid. The results of the worksheet validity test were obtained by 90% and the results of the trial of students were 93%. The implications of this worksheet are helpful for students to independent learning, and this worksheet helps students solve mathematical problems in accordance with procedural, assisted by steps of the metaphorical thinking approach, teaching and learning activities are more effective.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine whether the enhancement in mathematical communication skills of students instructed with the experiential learning model surpasses that of students instructed with the conventional learning model. This research is a quasi-experimental research design, with the research sample comprising one experimental class (utilizing the experiential learning model) and one control class (following the conventional approach), each consisting of 20 students. The research instrument employed is a descriptive test comprising a pretest and posttest. Based on the research data analyzed using the N-Gain hypothesis test, it can be concluded that there is an improvement in students' mathematical communication skills in the context of the three-variable linear equation system material. This improvement is more pronounced among students taught using the experiential learning model compared to those instructed using the conventional learning model.
