Abstract

Learning in several vocational schools uses Autodesk software which has many features and is also widely used in industry. The change in the use of the 2013 curriculum at SMK N 5 Padang will certainly change the learning concept which originally used the 2013 curriculum to become an independent curriculum. Curriculum changes require teachers to prepare new media or teaching materials in accordance with the established curriculum. The aim to be achieved in the research is to develop a PJBL (Project Based Learning) based learning tool for the Manufacturing Engineering Drawing subject with the hope that this module can be used in schools as a learning medium. This research uses the R&D method with the ADDIE development model. Material expert validation was carried out by 3 experts in the field of production materials. The percentage of presentation aspects is 1.0 and the percentage of content aspects is 0.97. The percentage of validation results for all aspects is 0.98 in the very valid category. Validation of media experts and models was carried out by 3 experts in the media field. The percentage of the visual appearance aspect is 0.96, the physical criteria aspect is 0.93 and the convenience aspect is 1.0. The percentage of media expert validation results from all aspects is 0.96, very valid research category. Language expert validation was carried out by 1 expert in the field, consisting of 8 items. The percentage of language expert validation is 0.87 in the very valid category, so this teaching module is said to be very good for use in the learning process by future researchers.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L) is a horticultural commodity classified as a spice vegetable. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, shallot production in Indonesia in 2021 reached 2.01 million tons. This figure increased by 10.42 percent compared to the 2020 production which reached 189.15 thousand tons. Fried shallots are one of the processed forms of shallots which in the manufacturing process go through the slicing stage. Research on this onion slicing machine has been done a lot. Similar research discusses analyzing the development of a more efficient slicing machine. Things that must be considered in the process of making slicing machine construction are the number of blades, power consumption, time and slice results. The purpose of this research is to be able to analyze variations in the number of blades properly for onion slicing machines and find out their effect on power consumption, slicing time and slice results. This research uses the Experiment research method with the help of Microsoft Excel 2019 software. The results showed that the greater the variation in the number of blades, the lower the power consumption and slicing time and it was found that the level of damage to the sliced results was greater the more the number of blades. The conclusion of this research is that the greater the variation in the number of blades, the lower the power consumption and slicing time. The sharpness and length of the blade affect the results of sliced onions.

Abstract

SMKS Dhuafa Padang equips students with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills through the subject of Creative Products and Entrepreneurship (PKK). However, students' entrepreneurial readiness is still low. This study examines the factors behind it, such as the narrowing of employment opportunities, entrepreneurship can create jobs, PKK has an influence on the entrepreneurial spirit, entrepreneurship learning has an important role in improving students' entrepreneurial readiness. This study uses a quantitative correlational type to determine the relationship between PKK and Entrepreneurial Readiness. Data collected in the form of numbers and analyzed using statistics. The research method used is associative quantitative, which aims to determine the influence and relationship between PKK and Entrepreneurial Readiness. This study found that PKK has a relationship with student entrepreneurship readiness at SMKS Dhuafa Padang. This is evidenced through the T test and F test, where the value of Sig. 0.05 and the value of tcount ttable (in the T test) and the value of fcount ftable (in the F test) indicates a relationship.In conclusion, PKK proved to play an important role in increasing students' interest in entrepreneurship, with 15.1% influenced by PKK and the rest by other factors.

Abstract

The learning media used previously for the Manufacturing Drawing Technique subject in class XI of Machining Engineering has not been optimal in achieving learning objectives. Therefore, this research aims to develop e-modules as learning media at SMKS Dhuafa Padang. The research used an R&D development model in education based on the IDI model, which was carried out in the odd semester of FY 2023/2024. The IDI model includes three stages: determination, development, and assessment. Data were collected through a validation sheet in the form of a questionnaire and analyzed with quantitative descriptive statistics. The results showed that this e-module was feasible to use as an independent learning media with a final validity value of 0.83 from material experts and 0.90 from media experts, which met the valid criteria. The e-module practicality test showed very practical results, with an average percentage value of 93.6% from the teacher's assessment. The use of this e-module is expected to provide several significant advantages for the learning process. First, this e-module allows more flexible access to learning for students, allowing them to learn anytime and anywhere at their convenience. Secondly, interactive and engaging e-modules are expected to increase students' motivation and interest in learning. Thus, this e-module not only helps students understand the subject matter better but also supports the development of self-learning skills essential for long-term academic success.

Abstract

Social media is widely used in education for various learning activities, such as searching for educational materials, using it as a tool, giving assignments, participating in discussion forums, and many more. Optimizing learning outcomes is the goal of using social media in the classroom. Online communities, bloggers, social media, wikis, forums and virtual worlds are examples of social media platforms where users can interact, share and create content easily. This study aims to introduce social media as a teaching aid in the subject of basic knowledge of mechanical engineering (PDTM), Department of Machining Engineering Class X, State Vocational High School 5 Padang. A total of 32 class x students Department of Mechanical Engineering participated in the study January-June 2023/2024 school year. The results showed an increase from pre test to post test. In the pre-test value obtained a value of 74.422 and the post-test learning outcomes were 79.79, this. This proves that, there is a difference between learning outcomes that use audio visual media and do not use audio visual media at State Vocational High School 5 Padang.

Abstract

The role of education is crucial in individual self-development to overcome faced challenges. The learning process is a fundamental means to enhance this educational role. However, to support an effective learning process, appropriate media is needed to ensure that information received by students is more easily understood. At SMKS Dhuafa Padang, for the lathe machining technique subject, learning media is still limited to whiteboards, textbooks, and PowerPoint presentations, which create student dependency on teachers. The lack of visualization in learning results in students having difficulty understanding the material. Therefore, E-modules become a solution to improve the quality of lathe machining technique learning. E-modules allow students to learn independently with neatly and systematically arranged material, stronger visualization, and interactivity. In conducting this research, the researcher used a Research and Development (R&D) approach and employed the Instructional Development Institute (IDI) development procedure, which has three steps: Define (needs analysis), Develop (e-module media design), and Evaluate (Validity Evaluation). The research instrument used questionnaires filled out by validators (teachers and lecturers), and the research results showed a score of 0.925 for material validity and 0.903 for media validity, indicating that this e-module media is feasible and valid for application as learning media. It is hoped that with the existence of this E-module, it can be utilized as additional learning media in the Lathe Machining Technique learning process.

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the airflow in the backward type centrifugal fan using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation. This type of fan is often used in various industries due to its high efficiency in moving air or gas. In CFD simulation, the selection of the right turbulent model is very important to obtain simulation results that are reliable, efficient, and relevant to real conditions. The study used four different turbulent models to look at their effects on pressure distribution, flow velocity, and fan efficiency. The turbulent models used are k-ε Standard, k-ε RNG, k-ε Realizable and k-ω SST. The goal was to find the most optimal turbulent model of the centrifugal fan around the impeller. The impeller has an angle (,β-1.) of 35,260 with a rotation speed of 301,069 rad/s. The simulation was carried out by meshing about 500,000 mesh elements for a balance between accuracy and computing needs. Validation was carried out by comparing the simulation results of Ansys Student R1 2024 and Solidwork. Of the four turbulent models tested, k-ε RNG provided the most accurate results, with an efficiency difference of only 1.3% compared to Solidworks. This model manages to capture better variations in pressure and flow velocity, especially in turbulent areas and around the impeller. These results show that the k-ε RNG turbulent model provides closer results than other models. These findings are important for the optimization of centrifugal fan design and emphasize the importance of selecting the right turbulent model in numerical simulations.

Abstract

Engine Mounting atau dudukan mesin merupakan komponen penting yang terdapat pada mesin pembakaran dalam maupun mesin pembakaran luar yang memiliki fungsi untuk meredam getaran maupun kebisingan, dan menahan beban mesin. Setiap mesin pembakaran dalam tidak terlepas dari yang namanya getaran atau vibrasi, hal ini karena pada umumnya mesin pembakaran dalam menghasilkan gerak rotasi dan mengalami siklus berulang. Jika vibrasi sudah memasuki Natural Frequency dari suatu struktur bagian mesin, maka akan dapat menimbulkan kerusakan terhadap struktur komponen-komponen mesin. Natural frequency suatu objek tergantung pada karakteristik fisiknya seperti massa dan kekakuannya. Dalam penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui modus getar, dan nilai natural frequency dari engine mounting, hal ini sangat penting dilakukan untuk mencegah terjadinya resonansi pada engine mounting. Dalam penelitian ini model tiga dimensi struktur engine mounting dibuat menggunakan perangkat lunak CAD (Computer Aided Design) yaitu Solidworks Research License 2021-2022, dan prosedur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah FEA (Finite Element Analysis) pada software Solidworks Research License 2021-2022. Simulasi dilakukan dengan meshing sekitar 65.591 element mesh hasil simulasi solidworks menunjukkan bahwa natural frequency engine mounting berkisar antara 37,40 Hz hingga 177,28 Hz, dengan displacement maximum mencapai 0,562 dalam keterangan AMPRES pada modus 8. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya memilih frekuensi kerja mesin agar tidak berdekatan dengan natural frequency engine mounting. Selain itu, respon dinamis displacement maximum manunjukkan, perlunya perancangan yang cermat untuk mengurangi dampak vibrasi pada kinerja mesin. Penelitian lebih lanjut sebaiknya fokus pada pengembangan material dan desain yang dapat meminimalkan displacement maximum serta meningkatkan stabilitas struktur engine mounting

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan suhu terhadap piringan cakram dengan tipe solid, ventilated, dan wave untuk sepeda motor matic. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan menentukan batasan waktu putar selama 5 menit dan tekanan pada tuas rem sebesar 40 psi. Bagaimana suhu pada piringan cakram meningkat seketika saat diberi tekanan dari kampas secara terus menerus. Peningkatan suhu yang terlalu tinggi ini lah yang bisa mengakibatkan kurangnya performa pengereman, ketika piringan cakram menjadi terlalu panas menyebabkan daya cengkram antara piringan cakram dengan kampas rem tidak bekerja dengan baik dan penurunan sistem kinerja rem. Peningkatan suhu yang berlebihan pada piringan cakram dapat menyebabkan penurunan daya cengkram antara piringan cakram dan kampas rem, yang berpotensi menyebabkan pengereman yang kurang efektif dan berbahaya, terutama pada situasi darurat atau pengereman mendadak. Oleh karena itu, pemilihan piringan cakram yang tepat sangat penting untuk menjaga kestabilan performa pengereman dan mengurangi risiko terjadinya kegagalan sistem rem.

Abstract

Traffic accidents are one of the highest causes of death in Indonesia. One of the factors traffic accidents is caused by vehicles, in this case the braking system. Brakes are a device on a vehicle that functions to reduce the speed by applying friction. The main feature in the braking system is heat dissipation. If the brake overheating, the effectiveness of the braking system will be reduced. In general, there are two types of brakes, but in modern vehicles disc brake more used. In this study, various types of disc brakes will be tested. The designs tested are solid disc brakes, drilled-type disc brakes, and grooved-type disc brakes. The aim of research for determine the most optimal disc brake design. The temperature value on the surface of the disc brake will be measure. The Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method is used in this study. The validation process is carried out by comparing analytical result and Finite Element Analysis result on solid disc brakes. The speed before braking is 60 km / h. Material used on disc brake is grey cast iron. In the simulation process using Finite Element Analysis, the mesh size used is 3 mm and the number of elements is 255,244 elements. After the analysis was carried out, the temperature value in the grooved-type disc brake design was the smallest value than another with a maximum temperature of 143.56 ºC during braking. Thus, based on the results obtained, the grooved-type disc brake tends to be more optimal.
