Abstract

This study compares the civic education systems in Hong Kong and Indonesia, analyzing their historical development, curriculum structures, and educational goals. The research employs a literature review approach, utilizing secondary sources such as academic books, peer-reviewed journals, and policy documents to compare the educational frameworks of both regions. The findings reveal that Hong Kong’s civic education has evolved within the context of its transition from British colonial rule to becoming a Special Administrative Region of China, with a focus on fostering national identity and legal compliance under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework. In contrast, Indonesia’s civic education has developed in response to its independence, emphasizing Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, and democratic values. The study identifies key differences in curriculum content, evaluation systems, and learning objectives, showing how each country’s civic education reflects its socio-political environment. The research underscores the importance of contextualizing civic education in the formation of responsible citizens who are equipped to address global challenges. This comparative study offers valuable insights for enhancing civic education curricula in both countries and globally.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to compare the SVM and CNN machine learning algorithms by combining PCA as data reduction to see which level of accuracy is higher with orange objects. Methodology/approach: created using the waterfall model, the system used to create the model is matlab ver r2022a, using the help of the python programming language to separate the datasets used, the datasets used come from kaagle including the following (https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/raghavrpotdar/fresh-and-stale-images-of-fruits-and-vegetables), and Orange disease dataset(https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/jonathansilva2020/orange-diseases-dataset). Results/findings: The results obtained from the Matlab test using the CNN and PCA algorithms obtained an accuracy of 76.4% and the SVM and PCA classification models obtained an accuracy of 98.89%. Conclusions: This research was successful with the results of combining the SVM and PCA algorithms which had high accuracy results compared to CNN and PCA. Limitations: In this study, the focus is only on comparing the SVM and CNN algorithms with the help of PCA to see which one has the higher level of accuracy between the two. The dataset was only taken from Kaagle, and the software used to create the model was Matlab. Contribution: This research is expected to be a reference for creating models in the future that can be applied to the classification process of automated products.

Abstract

This study presents the design and validation of a digital learning module aed at enhancing multicultural citizenship competence among higher education students. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method and the ADDIE framework (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) the module was tested across three Indonesian universities: STKIP Kusuma Negara, STKIP Arrahmaniyah, and Pamulang University. A total of 30 students participated in preliminary testing, followed by 54 students in field trials. The module and its accompanying web-based digital were evaluated by two subject matter experts and two media specialists to ensure content accuracy and media quality. Results showed high feasibility ratings (module: 87.56%; web digital: 91.31%), strong effectiveness (module: 88.71%; web digital: 88.80%), and notable practicality (module: 86.61%; web digital: 90.30%). Feedback from lecturers and students emphasized the module’s accessibility, clear structure, interactive features, and adaptability to diverse learning contexts. The digital format allowed for flexible integration into various teaching environments, promoting student engagement and cross-cultural understanding. This research contributes an innovative, culturally responsive, and technology-enhanced resource for civic education, supporting the development of inclusive, tolerant, and globally aware citizens in higher education settings. It also demonstrates the potential of digital pedagogy in advancing multicultural values in Curricula.

Abstract

This study examines the role of digital literacy as a fundamental element in strengthening political education for the younger generation in the digital age. Using a qualitative descriptive method through literature study, this study identifies and analyzes various literature related to digital literacy and political education. The results show that conventional political education is still limited by space and time, while digital-based political education provides broader and more flexible access. Digital literacy is a determining factor in the effectiveness of digital political education because it equips the younger generation with critical thinking skills, the ability to counter disinformation, and the ability to participate responsibly in democratic life. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of a conceptual model that links digital literacy with political participation. Practically, the results of this study provide recommendations for policymakers and educators in integrating digital literacy into the civic and political education curriculum.
