Abstract

Palm oil is one of the agricultural commodities grown in world trade. North America is one of the regions with high import demand, so that the region can be observed as an export destination. This study aimed to examine the palm import demand in three selected North American Countries (United States of America (USA), Canada and Mexico) and its determinants. Autoregressive Distributive Lags (ARDL) was applied in this study between 1990 and 2017. The results indicate that the demand for palm oil in North American countries has increased. However, the import growth and shares have fluctuated relatively. GDP, GDP Indonesia, GDP Malaysia world palm oil prices, soybean oil prices, and biodiesel production significantly affect palm oil imports in the USA in the long and short-run. The GDP and GDP of Indonesia are the factors that influence palm oil import in Canada and Mexico in the long run. However, we found the impact of GDP Malaysia and GDP Indonesia in Canada in the short-run. Moreover, Indonesia's GDP and GDP significantly influenced palm oil import in Mexico. This research implies that oil palm exporting countries need to consider these factors, especially GDP, before expanding their market to North American countries as one of the biggest palm oil markets in the global world. Abstract

Palm oil is an important commodity between Indonesia and Malaysia with a higher contribution to the national economy. However, the investigation into its competitiveness is still important due to fierce competition in the global world. This study aims to investigate the Relative Export Competitiveness (REC) of palm oil downstream and its determinant factors between Indonesia and Malaysia from 1970 until 2020. This study utilizes REC based on merchandise trade and multiple regression by using several variables influencing its REC. The findings reveal that REC in Indonesia has been greater than that of Malaysia over the past 20 years. Initially, Malaysia had a stronger position in REC than Indonesia, particularly from 1971 to 1997. Our analysis demonstrates that REC in Indonesia is positively influenced by factors such as the palm oil policy, the existence of palm oil organizations, and the official exchange rate. Conversely, GDP per capita and the palm oil policy positively impact Malaysia's REC. However, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) have a negative effect on REC in both countries. Based on these results, Indonesia and Malaysia must examine proper palm oil downstream policy to boost competitiveness. Abstract

Actual Indonesia's inflation rate is higher than the government's inflation target. One of the reasons is that the dataset for calculating food group inflation is asymmetric due to incomplete supply and demand data. This study tries to overcome asymmetric data constraints by providing an enterprise system for strategic horticultural commodities (SHES). The research method used the first three Zachman Framework perspectives: the executive perspective contextual view, the business management perspective conceptual view, and the architect's perspective physical view, each evaluated using the Why and Who facets. Respectively, the result of the Why facet is about business drivers and motivation intention: vision, mission, and goals; strategic goals and the SHES model's entity goals/objectives; and system development rules, requirements, and functionality representation. The Who facets results are associated with responsibility assignments of farmers, merchants, sub-district data collectors, District Agriculture offices, developers, users, and managers (tested using high-fidelity prototypes/mockups). With SHES, data and information collection becomes systematic and holistic, immediately in the form of real-time data from farmers and traders. Access to SHES uses the farmer's/trader's mobile phone. Thus, data recapitulation, from village to sub-district, district, to provincial and national, will likely be based on reality/data facts in the field. Abstract

This research aims to actuate the determinants of the capital structure of the state and non-state-owned construction industries during the infrastructure policy and the Covid-19 pandemic periods. Secondary data were collected quarterly from 2013 to 2020 from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Bank Indonesia, and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing budget using a dynamic panel data with the Generalized Method of Moments. It was found that speed of adjustment, profitability, tangibility, activity, and infrastructure policies affect the capital structure of state-owned construction companies. Meanwhile, speed of adjustment, profitability, tangibility, and exchange rate affect non-state-owned construction companies. The result showed that state-owned and non-state-owned construction companies have a gap of 27.3% and 17.7% %, respectively. Furthermore, both companies have speed adjustment values of 1.38 period and 1.21 period. This means that non-state-owned construction companies' adjustment speed is faster than their state-owned counterpart. Therefore, the decision-making of debt construction companies needs to consider the financial characteristics and ownership of the company.

Abstract

The Internet has become essential in increasing output between corporate and country levels. However, the impact of the Internet on trading potential still needs to be known. On the other hand, Indonesia has great potential to export agricultural food products in global trade. Therefore, the relationship between the Internet development and agri-food export potential could be explored. This study aims to investigate the effect of Internet development on Indonesia’s export potential in the global market. The export potential estimation was measured using gravity estimation in 124 destination countries from 2010 to 2020. Furthermore, the panel regression was employed to determine the three indicators of Internet development: Internet users, secure Internet servers, and fixed broadband subscriptions on Indonesia’s agricultural export potential. This study also utilized simulation due to the possibility of rising the number of Internet indicators. The results revealed several positive factors of Indonesia’s agricultural exports, such as importers’ gross domestic bruto (GDP), contagious border, and colonial relationship. Otherwise, geographical distance, exchange rate, and being a landlocked country negatively affected Indonesia’s agricultural exports. Indonesia possessed a greater potential for agricultural exports in Europe, especially in the conditions of emerging and developing economies. There were 85 destination countries with higher potential for Indonesia’s agri-food export. Additionally, Internet users and secure Internet servers positively influenced the agricultural export potential to target countries. The simulation revealed that improving Internet indicators boosted the new market rather than raising the export value to target countries.

Abstract

Background: QRIS as a payment method through QR codes has emerged as one of the products initiated by the implementation of the Indonesian Payment System Blueprint (SPI). Purpose: The purpose of QRIS is to expand the efficient acceptance of non-cash payments, focusing on traditional mass economic functions (such as traditional markets and MSMEs). Design/methodology/approach: The analysis in this research utilized Partial Least Square Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings/Result: The results indicate that habit and hedonic motivation variables have a significant positive influence on behavioral intention, while usage barriers have a significant negative impact on behavioral intention. Furthermore, habit and facilitating conditions variables have a significant positive impact on use behavior. Conclusion: The findings highlight that the decision to use QRIS is largely habitual, influenced by prior experiences and quick decision-making (Hedonic Motivation) at the point of transaction. The decision-making process is no longer lengthy, as QR-based payment systems were already familiar before QRIS implementation in Indonesia.Originality/value (State of the art): The approach of simultaneously measuring acceptance factors and barriers is still rarely employed in technology adoption studies. Evaluating both factors concurrently can provide a more comprehensive assessment of the technology adoption process. Keywords: UTAUT 2, IRT, digital transaction, QRIS, technology acceptance

Abstract

The prices of strategic food commodities, namely rice, red chili, chicken, beef, shallots, eggs, sugar, and cooking oil, are monitored to measure Indonesia's inflation in the food category. This study intended to explore the chili agrosystems as an essential Indonesian daily cuisine due to its perishable nature and its variably supply chain. The state-of-the-art approach from various research databases was used and supplemented with secondary data gathered from the related enterprise. The study revealed that food strategic web-based information systems on production, consumption, and price are under different authorities. Concerning the chili case, even though there was a production surplus, price fluctuation increasing the risk of lowering motivation to plant. The number of actors involved itemizes eight chili's supply chain main patterns. In conclusion, chili trade and freight margins favoured supply chain actors but not the farmer itself. The welfare of the farmers is not good condition. It is characterized by proxy indicators, the majority of which are only slightly more than 100. The situation creates a new risk of decreasing motivation in farming. Further study using manageable chili enterprise systems is required to bring farmers closer to end consumers and improve their welfare. Abstract

Online food delivery (OFD) services can shape consumer habits through regular use. Although promotions attract consumers, they may also encourage food waste. This study analyzes factors influencing the intention to use OFD services and over-ordering behaviors by extending the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) with variables such as sales promotion and leftover reuse. The study used purposive sampling and collected data from an online survey of 253 OFD service users in Jabodetabek. Descriptive analysis and Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) were applied. Results showed that most of the OFD users in this study were female residents of Bogor and Jakarta, aged 25 - 35 years old, single, holding a bachelor's degree, employed, with monthly incomes of IDR5,000,000 and IDR10,000,000, and spending IDR1,000,000 - IDR2,000,000 per month on food. Intention to use was influenced by attitude and subjective norms, while over-ordering was influenced by sales promotion and intention to use. The leftover reuse variable did not significantly influence the intention to use or over-ordering. Implications include encouraging continued OFD use through targeted advertising and features to help users manage consumption behavior, such as setting order reminders, providing nutritional information, and offering personalized portion recommendations. This study’s novelty lies in introducing a new variable and demonstrating that sales promotions can encourage over-ordering.
