Abstract

The aims of this study to be determine the soil chemical properties and productivity of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) at different water levels on peatlands. The research was carried out in PT. Tabung Haji Indo Plantation (PT. THIP) Indragiri Hilir and the analys of soil chemical properties were conducted at the Laboratory of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Riau, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. This research was held started July to October 2017. This research conducted used survey method. The sampling location in this research are divided into 3 strata in 3 difference blocks and 3 samples that had been determined are named: TMA1 = 20- 40 cm, TMA2 = 41-60 cm and TMA3 => 60 cm carried out experimental used completely randomized design (CRD). There are three times repeatation treatments and 27 samples units in total. The observation data that obtained are analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of variance analysis were continued by Duncan's multiple range test at the 5% level. The parameters of observation carried out include soil chemical properties: pH, C-organic, N-total, P-total, K-total, cation exchange capacity (CEC), saturation of bases (KB) and productivity of oil palm. The results showed that peatland with a water level of > 60 cm had soil pH, organic C, N-total, P-total, K-total, and CEC was higher than the water level of 20-40 cm and 41-60 cm, while KB at a depth of 20-40 cm had a higher KB value than the water level of 41-60 cm and > 60 cm.

Abstract

The research aims to study the response of upland rice on the application of silicates and phosphate fertilizer on Ultisol. The study was conducted in land Ultisol in Pematang Berangan Village, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. Research in the form of experimental factorial completely randomized design consisting of two factors. The first factor is silicate consists of four levels (0, 50, 75, and 100 kg SiO2/ha), while the second factor that phosphate fertilizer consists of four levels (0, 36, 54, and 72 kg P2O5/ha), each combination was repeated three times. The results showed that application of silicates and phosphates increase the growth and yield of upland rice. The application of 100 kg SiO2 and 36 kg P2O5 per hectare increasing of the percentage of grain pithy and weight of dry grain per square meter, about 21% and 117% respectively compared to without silicates and phosphates.

Abstract

Peatland is an important natural resource for human life because it can be used as growth of oil palm plantation. The growth of oil palm plantations in peatlands is strongly influenced by peat water management. This study aims to study the relationship of different water levels to the content of leaf Cu and Zn nutrients and the growth of oil palm plants (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in the peatlands. This research has been carried out on peatland areas in oil palm plantations of PT. Jatimjaya Perkasa Sei Bangko, Kubu District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. Analysis of soil samples and plants samples has been carried out at the Soil Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru. The research was conducted in December 2017 to January 2018. This research was conducted using a survey method, the determination of the location of the study using a purposive sampling method, determination of sampling location is determined by stratified sampling method, where the strata in this study are grouped according to different peat water levels namely water level < 40 cm , 40 - 60 cm, and > 60 cm with oil palm plants at the same age which is six years and the piezometer has been installed properly. The parameters that observed in this study were soil pH, availability of Cu and Zn nutrient, total soil-K, content of Cu, Zn and K leaves and growth of oil palm plants which included plant height, midrib length and leaflet. The observed data were analyzed for variance and tested further by DNMRT at the level of 5%, analyzed by regression to see the relationship between water level and parameters. The results showed that peatland with water level of 40 - 60 cm had a soil pH, K-total soil, Cu leaves, Zn leaves, midrib length and the highest oil palm plantations compared to peat land with a groundwater level < 40 cm and > 60 cm, and has a different length of leaflets.Key words : Cu and Zn nutrient, Oil palm plantation, Peatlands, Water Level.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the types and ways of application of organic matter and the combination of both of the rice yields in peat growing media. This research has been carried out in the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agric ulture, Riau University, Campus Bina Widya Km 12.5, Simpang Baru Panam Sub-District, Tampan District, Pekanbaru, Riau. This research was carried out for 4 months, starting from May to August 2018. The research was conducted experimentally arranged according to a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial pattern consisting of 2 factors. Factor I: organic matter of plant waste (O), namely: O1 (125 g rice straw), O2 (125 g soybean litter), O3 (oil palm empty fruit bunches 125 g) and Fact II: how to apply organic material (C), namely: C1 (mixed) and C2 (spread). The results obtained were analyzed using variance analysis and continued with the double range duncan's new multiple range test (DNMRT) at 5% level. However, the type of organic rice paddy yields results in the weight of the milled dry grain which is 106.94 g-138.23 g, the weight of 1,000 grains that is 26.40 g-26.95 g and soybean litter on the percentage of rice grain grain 86.24 g-88.00 g. Giving application method in the distribution gives results on the weight of dry milled unhulled rice that is 125.21 g-126.02 g, the weight of 1,000 grains that is 26.65 g-26.79 g and the percentage of unhulled grain that is 86.76 g-87 , 74 g and the combination of the type of organic rice paddy and the application method in the distribution gives the results of the weight of the milled dry rice which is 102.94 g - 140.87 g, the weight of 1,000 items, which is between 26.29 g - 27.27 g and soybean litter organic material types and application method are mixed namely 84.94 g - 88.50 g.Key words : application method, rice plant, rice straw, soybean litter, TKKS.

Abstract

AbstrakRendahnya produktivitas tanaman padi maupun hortikultura di desa Langsat Permai Kecamatan Bunga Raya Kabupaten Siak salah satunya disebabkan karena belum tersedianya air yang cukup untuk budidaya tanaman sehingga perlu dilakukan pengelolaan tata air dengan pembuatan canal blocking untuk dapat dimanfaatkan pada tanaman padi maupun tanaman hortikultura di daerah tersebut. Hal ini dilakukan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air pada tanaman padi maupun hortikultura apalagi pada saat musim kemarau. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan pendampingan melalui kegiatan IbDM pengelolaan tata air di Desa Langsat Permai Kecamatan Bunga Raya Kabupaten Siak. Selain pengadaan air, peningkatan budidaya pertanian dapat dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan limbah jerami untuk dijadikan kompos dan pakan ternak sehingga dapat membentuk pertanian terpadu antara aspek pertanian dan peternakan. Strategi pendampingan dilakukan dengan berdiskusi secara langsung dengan kelompok tani mengenai dampak pembuatan canal blockingdan praktek langsung dalam pembuatan kompos dan pakan ternak. Melalui kegiatan ini sangat terlihat antusias masyarakat dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan IbDM yang dilakukan melalui peningkatan motivasi masyarakat untuk pengembangan tanaman pangan dan hortikultura serta lebih memanfaatkan jerami padi untuk kompos dan pakan ternak.Kata Kunci : canal blocking, jerami padi, kompos, pakan ternak AbstractThe low productivity of rice crops and horticulture in Langsat Permai village, Bunga Raya subdistrict, Siak regency is caused by the lack of sufficient water for the cultivation of plants, so it is necessary to manage the water system by making canal blocking to be used in rice crops and horticultural crops in the area. This is done to meet the water needs in rice crops and horticulture especially during the dry season. Therefore, assistance is done through the activities of IbDM water management in the Village Langsat Permai District Bunga Raya Siak District. In addition to water supply, improved agricultural cultivation can be done by utilizing the waste of straw to be used as compost and animal feed so as to form an integrated agriculture between aspects of agriculture and livestock. Advisory strategy is conducted by discussing directly with farmer groups about the impact of canal blocking and direct practice in composting and animal feed. Through this activity is very visible enthusiastic community in the implementation of IbDM activities conducted through increased community motivation for the development of food crops and horticulture and more use of rice straw for compost and animal feed. Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) holds a very strategic role in the Indonesia economy. Plants that have reached the economical age of 25 years need to be replanted using qualified oil palm seedling. The qualified seedling is obtained through proper fertilization. The combination of NPK fertilizer and organic material of oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) which has been given a cellulolytic bacterial consortium can provide sufficient nutrients for the growth of oil palm seedlings. The study aimed to determine the effect of giving a combination of OPEFB organic material, cellulolytic bacterial consortium, and NPK fertilizer on the growth of oil palm seedling (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) at main nursery. This experiment used a single factor experiment arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatments were a 100% NPK, a OPEFB compost, a 50% NPK + OPEFB compost, a 50% NPK + OPEFB + Cellulolytic bacterial consortium, and a OPEFB + cellulolytic bacterial consortium. The results showed that the application of inorganic fertilizers combined with organic fertilizers (a OPEFB compost and a OPEFB + cellulolytic bacterial consortium) had a good effect on each parameter. Giving organic fertilizer without inorganic fertilizer had not affected plant growth on all parameters. Application of a OPEFB compost and a OPEFB + cellulolytic bacterial consortium can reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers by 50%.

Abstract

The efficiency of fertilizing N on oil palm plants on peatlands in several companies isdone by planting legume cover crop, one of which is Mucuna bracteata. This plantcan form root nodules because it can symbiosis with rhizobium bacteria which willmake fixation of N2 in the air so that the bound N elements can be utilized by plants. This bacterium grows naturally on legume cover crop. This study aims to explore and characterize adaptive rhizobium bacteria in peatlands. The location of sampling is done at PT. Jatimjaya Perkasa, Kubu District, Rokan Hilir Regency. Sampling of root nodules by stratified random sampling. The results obtained by eight bacterial isolates that have relatively similar macroscopic and microscopic characteristics and belong to rhizobium based on the YEMA + CR and YEMA + BTB tests.Keywords: Peat soil, Oil palm, Legume cover crop, Rhizobium

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh cekaman kekeringan dan dosis pemupukan K serta interaksinya terhadap fisiologi dan pertumbuhan jagung manis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di rumah kaca Jurusan Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau pada bulan September sampai November 2017. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 2 faktor yaitu cekaman kekeringan dan pemupukan K serta penggunaan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama terdiri dari 2 taraf, antara lain: A1 = normal dan A2 = cekaman kekeringan dan faktor kedua terdiri dari empat taraf: K1 = 120 kg K2O ha-1, K2 = 150 kg K2O ha-1 dan K3 = 180 kg K2O ha-1. Berdasarkan analisis varians diperoleh hasil yang berbeda nyata, maka dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan uji BNJ pada taraf 5%. Parameter percobaan terdiri dari faktor fisiologis yaitu kadar klorofil umur 30 HST dan 60 HST serta kadar prolin. Faktor pertumbuhan terdiri dari volume akar, berat basah dan berat kering tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cekaman kekeringan menurunkan parameter fisiologis dan pertumbuhan tanaman kecuali kadar prolin. Pemberian pupuk K meningkatkan kandungan klorofil tanaman umur 30 HST dan volume akar. Interaksi cekaman kekeringan dengan pemberian pupuk K tidak memperbaiki fisiologis dan pertumbuhan tanaman jagung manis.

Abstract

Air merupakan unsur penting yang dibutuhkan dalam budidaya tanaman cabai di Desa Langsat Permai. Selama ini, petani Desa Langsat Permai memanfaatkan air kanal yang berada di sekitar lahan untuk usaha budidaya cabai maupun tanaman lainnya. Akan tetapi, petani sulit mendapatkan air apabila terjadi musim kemarau sehingga menghambat usaha budidaya tanaman yang mereka lakukan. Berangkat dari permasalahan tersebut, kegiatan Iptek bagi Desa Mitra (IbDM) melakukan pembangunan canal blocking yang bertujuan untuk mengelola ketersediaan air khususnya pada musim kemarau. Pembangunan canal blocking tersebut sangat memberikan manfaat pada peningkatan hasil produksi cabai dimana tahun 2018 produksi cabai sebesar 14-15 ton/Ha dibandingkan pada tahun 2017 hanya berkisar 10-11 ton/Ha. Tidak hanya produksi cabai yang meningkat, pembangunan canal blocking ini juga memberikan dampak kepada meluasnya lahan sawit yang dikonversi menjadi lahan budidaya tanaman pangan maupun hortikultura. Terlihat dari jumlah lahan sawit yang dikonversi menjadi lahan pertanian tanaman pangan dan hortikultura sebesar 26 Ha pada tahun 2018. Hal ini sangat mendukung program Pemerintah Kabupaten Siak dimana pemerintah mendorong kegiatan pertanian baik pangan maupun hortikultura dibandingkan perkebunan sawit. Oleh karena itu, Pemerintah Kabupaten Siak dalam hal ini Bupati dan Kepala Dinas terkait melakukan kegiatan panen raya pada tahun 2018. Kegiatan ini sangat menguntungkan petani karena mereka dapat mengajukan beberapa sarana dan prasarana guna meningkatkan budidaya tanaman khususnya cabai. Pemerintah Kabupaten Siak juga mendorong Desa Langsat Permai menjadi salah satu daerah agrowisata berbasis tanaman cabai yang menampilkan budidaya cabai sampai penanganan pascapanen cabai.

Abstract

Peningkatan produktivitas pertanian padi dan cabai di Desa Langsat Permai meningkat setelah permasalahan ketidaktersediaan air untuk menunjang kegiatan pertanian teratasi. Melalui kegiatan PPDM tahun 2017-2019 yaitu pembangunan canal blocking, terjadi peningkatan produktivitas pertanian terutama tanaman padi (pada tahun 2018 mencapai 7-8 ton/Ha) dan cabai (pada tahun 2018 mencapai 14-15 ton/Ha). Selain pembuatan canal blocking untuk tata air, kegiatan PPDM tersebut juga mengembangkan kegiatan peternakan melalui pembangunan rumah kompos dan pemberian sapi beserta kandangnya. Akan tetapi, pembangunan rumah kompos dan pengadaan sapi tersebut belum optimal dalam upaya mengurangi penggunaan pupuk anorganik. Selain itu, penggunaan pestisida kimia secara berlebihan menyebabkan tingginya biaya produksi yang harus dikeluarkan oleh petani setempat dan berbahaya bagi lingkungan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah melakukan pendampingan petani dalam pengembangan sistem pertanian Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (LEISA) dalam pengelolaan pupuk maupun pengendalian hama penyakit tanaman yang dibudidaya oleh petani setempat. Pendampingan petani dilakukan dengan pembuatan demonstrasi plot pada lahan pertanian desa setempat. Dari hasil demplot yang dilakukan pada tanaman padi, cabai, dan jagung terlihat bahwa penggunaan pupuk anorganik dapat dikurangi sebanyak 25% untuk mendapatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil lebih baik, sedangkan penggunaan agens hayati lebih disarankan dibandingkan pestisida nabati untuk mengendalikan serangan hama di lahan pertanian petani Desa Langsat Permai.
